it took me very long to get that this song expresses a disdain for the music business. frank zappa started his own record label in 78 for that reason, which was kind of the first indie label. I think this song also reflects on syd barret, who needed some people to care about him, but went too far. musically, the albums one of the greats.

Pink Floyd is the band I feel like everyone is obligated to like. It's kind of suffocating in my opinion.

I don't doubt the musical talent but I just kinda don't ~vibe~ with it, for the lack of a better term. Of course, this is before I really dive in and give this seemingly pretentious band a chance. I'm eager to eat my words.
