Being a fan of the Floydian perspective on life, I see this song as the capital city (so to say) of this whole album "The Wall". It is our desires and passions that stand in the way of our happiness and to be connected to each other. All the revelations that came from God tell us to be aware of these desires and passions. Because of them we are destroying this planet. One of the prophets of God said "Loving this world (and its desires and passions) is the origin of every sin/evil".

I wish there was a version of the studio album with "What Shall We Do Now" on it, like you can always listen to the live version of the Wall, but honestly that track is the only thing that makes it a better, everything else is just kind, why wouldn't I just listen to the normal version of this song?

This has always been my favorite pink floyd song. grew up fishing in Alaska since I was in grade school.

As much as I love current technology ...I'm quite a traditionalist when it comes to animation...the 1970's/80's were the true zenith of the medium. Just cant seem to do this shit with CGI. Traditional cell animation just captured something human that no digital medium ever will.

Judging by the comments, it seems like it's an unpopular opinion that the album version is better. Well the animation is super cool of course, I like the vocals of the album, especially that last line 'How should I complete the wall?' and how it leads into Young Lust.

Tours of The East? Contract diseases? Those two things kind of go hand in hand.

dillon kinder I watched the wall for the first time on shrooms and I had a straight up life crisis. So much truth and symbolism in such a hauntingly beautiful film. Horrible trip but now one of my favorite movies.

I saw this movie when I was a teen. These animations were well ahead of their time back then. As for the chilling picture of our selfish, materialistic consumerist world, it didn't age a day.

Well they weren't ahead of it's time, they seemed pretty on average for the timezone but yeah it's some good animations

Fun fact lead animator did all the Character Designs for Dinsey's Hercules. This still remains some of his best work though.
