Pink Floyd - Corporal Clegg Lyrics

Corporal Clegg had a wooden leg
He won it in the war, in 1944

Corporal Clegg had a medal too
In orange, red and blue
He found it in the zoo

Dear oh dear, oh are they really sad for me?
Dear oh dear, oh will they really laugh at me?

Missus Clegg, you must be proud of him
Missus Clegg, another drop of gin?
Corporal Clegg, umbrella in the rain
He's never been the same
No one is to blame

Corporal Clegg received his medal in a dream
From Her Majesty, the Queen
His boots were very clean
Missus Clegg, you must be proud of him
Missus Clegg, another drop of gin?

Corporal Clegg
Corporal Clegg ...

  1. P.... D....

God this is great! Ok, Nic and Roger make always fools of themselves, but i guess i´ve never seen David soooo silly! LOVE this. Just hilarious! <3<3<3<3

  2. r.... m....

Though Syd Barrett denied playing the Guitar, on this excellent Roger Waters track, it sure sounds like Barrett plays his trebly sounding Fender Esquire!!!

  3. R.... H....

Even tho it might sound like their happiest silliest tune, imo it's and incredibly depressing song. And I love it.

  4. M.... K....

David Gilmour and Nick Mason on vocals :)

  5. m.... ....

I’d love a good food fight with all the members Pink Floyd

  6. D.... B....

I think nick mason should have sang more often

  7. S.... 1....

1:40 the beginning of the battle of egos 😂😂😂

  8. R.... w....

All of the members of Pink Floyd (including Syd) were impacted by WWII. A lot of their songs mention the war.

  9. C.... 8....

Someone needs to edit this to where its a music video without music. Id love to see that.

  10. N.... H....

    I love IT ❤ ❤ ❤ 👌 👌 👌 👌 👌 👏

  11. I.... F....

    Wowwwwwwwwwwww!

  12. C.... D....

1:40 started the feud between gilmour and waters

  13. C.... 8....

Not gonna lie, the music video makes this song a lot better!

  14. d.... s....

If your party isn't this lit,
    don't even bother me

  15. g.... ....

Oh man, I just got the first box, now I have to buy this!

  18. A.... C....

    😂😂😂

  19. R.... D....

    beatles influence

  20. r.... ....

    *Vietnam intensifies*

    r.... ....

@Racemixer Berg That works too i just said Vietnam because this clip was from that era and plus there were Vietnam war clips in the video too (WW2 ones as well)

  21. J.... G....

1:41 omg david and roger have been hating each other since the early days

    J.... G....

    Ahahaha… not realy this time!

  22. A.... ....

    I love this video

  23. N.... S....

Dave is my most favourite member of the band

  24. N.... S....

What a nice song this is ? Dave is looking very nice in this video very messive song I really enjoyed it

  25. B.... F....

Is this David Gilmour?? First time ever seen this!

  26. M.... ....

    good appetite

  27. N.... ....

Irreverant, absurd, fun, inventive, satirical, chaotic, explosive, mocking, surreal. Early Pink Floyd at their best.

  28. E.... ....

    Man, this is funny

  29. U.... S....

is that Roger who gets pissed because David spoils champagne over him? .... a nice innuendo to the band's future, I should say.

  30. W.... ....

Corporal Clegg had a wooden leg
he won it in the war
    in 1944...

  31. m.... A....

Tu tu tu tu tu tuuu
    Tu tu tu tuu
    Tu tu tu tu tuuu
    Tu tu tu tu tuuuu
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Amo a Pink Floyd pero con éste tema no puedo evitar 🤣reírme 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  32. F.... C....

Someone is to blame...for this music video.

  33. T.... K....

    Has a John Lenonish quality.

  34. y.... e....

1:46 Para escuchar con audífonos. Hay algo garabateando dentro de la cabeza

  35. J.... L....

    Why is this 😂

  36. J.... L....

Why do s have his SO funny

  37. b.... ....

Hmm, war footage and a food fight. I believe this was a band meeting circa 1985, minus lawyers. At 3:40, Roger makes his legal rebuttal argument to Dave: "I said! A spent force creatively, dammit!!"

  38. P.... W....

I've never seen this before. Thanks 4 sharing it.

  39. g.... w....

They were all just young stoners having fun ....SO BITTER NOW :(

  40. A.... L....

I can't put a finger on why I'm obsessed with the way Nick moves..but I just cannot get enough of it 🙏👌😏

    A.... L....

Hahahahaha, you have an unhealthy obsession with our Nick.

  41. J.... ....

the tune playing just before you meet terence mckenna in fromt of the cirkus in your Dmt trip ... and he says Welcome with a big smile ,, we love you

  42. T.... ....

    This song is pure shite

  43. A.... E....

This has got to be the most strangest fucking song I’ve ever listened to.

  44. C.... W....

    "I see you've got a Webb's Wonder today."
    "Yes."
    "Good."
    ...
"It certainly is a lovely day all right."

  45. t.... ....

When this first came out some of the radio stations (both of them) thought this was the Beatles under a different name. A year earlier I got to see Pink Floyd while I was in England. They opened for the Nice.

    t.... ....

    @bsg2112 And Pink Floyd too.

    t.... ....

@tixximmi1 which Beatles album would be the most similar to Pink Floyd?

    t.... ....

@Stasio R Not too sure. They were both different enough. Pink Floyd's first album reminded me of The Magical Mystery Tour a bit. But it's really hard to choose one.

    t.... ....

MMT sounds more engineered and relaxed and a bit richer in my opinion. You can tell it's a band taking their stuff to the next level. Piper is just unbridled psychedelic power!

  46. K.... M....

Seems like something Joji would do

  47. A.... M....

So which is the video that has the alternate ending for this song? The one where they modulate down to Bflat.

  48. W.... I....

Poor David is the lowest ranking soldier in the company.

    W.... I....

He's the youngest and just joined at the time, so the rest of the band, especially Roger, treated him like he was the new kid

  49. N.... l....

Seven dislike for this priceless classic? Seriously?

  50. J.... ....

Actually what you HEAR is a kazoo. What's in David's mouth is a slide whistle. Since kazoo's are considered child's toys, a slide whistle was used in the video but that is NOT a kazoo.

  51. N.... L....

I love how David puts the cazzo in his mouth at 1:47
    *triggers italians*

  52. d.... n....

    Breathtaking. This is raw Floyd

  53. N.... M....

Oh my God, keep calm and drop your LSD pill. XD

    N.... M....

    It's called creativity

  54. W.... B....

    Todos Se Agarraron A Putasos

  55. R.... 9....

    ❤️ He is the only way to go to the best 💐 💐 💐 💐 💐 💐 💐 💐 💐 💐

  56. j.... c....

    >Good quality
    >360p

    j.... c....

    It's still pretty good for
    an video old like this

  57. M.... C....

    FOOD FIGHT

  58. I.... V....

The riff is from Syd Barrett,.. One In A Million.

    I.... V....

Where did you get this information ?

    I.... V....

    Is that so?

    I.... V....

set the controls for the hearth of the sun ,and, remember a day too!

    I.... V....

its actually David ^____^ sad only contributed to ASFOS with jug band blues

  59. A.... M....

    Rick Wright or Julian Cope?!

  60. b.... ....

1:40 the start of the great divide

  61. T.... T....

An early Roger Waters composition, that seems to be trying to out-weird Syd. The kazoo choir is a nice touch.

  62. W.... W....

    This is good quality ?

    W.... W....

    the best you can get

  63. s.... ....

Love this song heard it years ago

  64. a.... ....

    👌👏👏👏😎...

  65. B.... M....

We were scared and it shows but... That it should not have been? NO! It had to be and the scars will inform the future ok@!?

  66. D.... M....

Wow crazy good never saw this before! Thanks

  67. H.... M....

this is not just music: it is at the same time so funny and creative that it's more like a carnival of mind

  68. P.... B....

The only Floyd song to feature ever member including Syd and Gilmour

    P.... B....

Guilherme Fontenele that's where you are wrong set the controls only had Syd on guitar, everyone was on corporal clegg

    P.... B....

Well i may be wrong but the only 2 musics that has something from syd in a saurceful of secrets album is set the controls and jugband blues... I can't find any reference of syd in this song.

    P.... B....

according to wiki it's set the controls with both syd and dave. corporal clegg doesnt have syd

    P.... B....

No. David himself had once said "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" had all five members. Syd had nothing to do with "Corporal Clegg."

    P.... B....

@Greg Diller maybe was dave trying to get syd's style on riff

  69. J.... B....

    i eat man

  70. O.... 9....

This always reminded me of the wall, maybe roger waters was using a similar point of inspiration. "Misses Clegg you must be proud of him"

    O.... 9....

Well, he did compose this song based in his deceased father.

  71. C.... W....

Love it so pink floyd LoL

  72. P.... R....

    WTF JUST HAPPENED?!

    P.... R....

    Pokin Ryan
    I have no idea.

  73. D.... C....

They are all I have left !

  74. J.... ....

Another rare one I've never seen! It's weird... in the US in the 70s, Pink Floyd were huge, but you never saw their pictures or certainly ever saw them on TV, so they were pretty faceless to most. They actually filmed themselves more than any other band ever! These films keep turning up!

  75. M.... S....

Exclusive images of the last Pink Floyd meeting before Roger Waters leaves the band, after The Final Cut recording sessions (that explains the war images)

    M.... S....

    No.......

    M.... S....

    Marco Salas - Haha!

    M.... S....

Marco Salas this song was written by Syd Barret, back in the late1960's.

    M.... S....

    Nice fantasy ....but NO !

    M.... S....

Ok, you beat to making that joke.

  76. L.... ....

David playing the kazoo. I love this video

    L.... ....

Im curious how you know it was David playing kzoo?

    L.... ....

@daniel navarro There's a Documentary on youtube that shows him playing it. Just search up Pink Floyd Documentary in the search bar, and it should be the first option, if not it's about an hour long.

  77. F.... N....

Nick Mason sings lead vocal, doesn't he with David Gilmour as background vocals.

    F.... N....

Same as paintbox, I always assumed this was them trying to mimic the sound of syd before they really got the style.

    F.... N....

He sings the replying lines, like "He won it in the war...in 1944!"

    F.... N....

I’m pretty sure its Waters tho i may be wrong.

    F.... N....

Gilmour sings the "corporal clegg had a wooden leg" parts of the song, Mason sings the replies "he won it in the war in 1944" and then all 4 members of the band are harmonising for the "ms clegg you must be proud of him" parts. It might only be Waters, Wright and Gilmour though sans Mason I'm not sure. It's one of the only times 3 or 4 members of the band all sang together though

  78. S.... ....

They were off their tits here and they don't even have tits. They are true magicians.

    S.... ....

I think the magic was in those mushrooms. Just say'n.

  79. J.... G....

TATATA RARA TATATARARA TATATATA TATATATATATA TATARARATATATATA TATATATAATAT

  80. j.... 3....

Man, as much as I love the Floyd's later work, I sure do miss the brotherly vibe of the older stuff when I see videos like this

    j.... 3....

ikr. there was just something magical about this early phase

    j.... 3....

More Syd - less 30 minute soloing.

  81. M.... ....

And I thought watching The Wall on shrooms was bad...glad I didn't watch this on shrooms lol. That is the saddest thing I have seen all day.

    M.... ....

Taking 2 tabs this weekend, gonna watch this. Wish me luck. Lol.

  82. L.... V....

Love this video and is much better than the others Corporal Clegg videos

  83. T.... s....

This is when they were a more close nit band before the real fighting between them started!

    T.... s....

still several years. They had disagreements all the way into Animals, but the idea of keeping the band together is what kept them together, plus they used to have to a lot of fun writing some songs until The Wall. IMO Animals is the last Album the entire band wrote together.

  84. E.... R....

"Caporal Clegg had a medal too,in orange red and blue,he found it in the Zoo

    E.... R....

"Mrs Clegg, you must be proud of him".

  85. L.... V....

Oh Pink Floyd before they found themselves

    L.... V....

I'm no expert, but to me the musical and lyrical talent of this song was a sign that they would become great one day!

    L.... V....

Early Pink Floyd are the best Pink Floyd

    L.... V....

A mi me gustan ambas, pero la epoca de syd barret tiene algo especial, esa locura psicodelica, caotica, me encanta

    L.... V....

Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett. Even as he left the band the rest of the album sounded a lot like Syds stuff

    L.... V....

This era of the floyd always intrests me. After Syd left they went glacial long brooding space jams like set the controls & saucer full of secrets.

  86. j.... r....

    amazing

  87. D.... S....

great video, where did you get this?
