Pink Floyd - Childhood's End Lyrics

You shout in your sleep
Perhaps the price is just too steep
Is your conscience at rest if once put to the test?
You awake with a start to just the beating of your heart
Just one man beneath the sky
Just two ears, just two eyes

You set sail across the sea of long past thoughts and memories
Childhood's end
Your fantasies merge with harsh realities
And then as the sail is hoist
You find your eyes are growing moist
All the fears never voiced say you have to make your final choice

Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why?
Some are born
Some men die beneath one infinite sky
There'll be war, there'll be peace
But everything one day will cease
All the iron turned to rust
All the proud men turned to dust
And so all things, time will mend
So this song will end

Anyone who could possibly dislike this song has no clue what music is.

  3. M.... ....

I had four older brothers in 1972 and I was just 10 years old while they were playing this album. I fell in love with the combination of Rick's keyboard playing and David's haunting guitar. One of the greatest Pink Floyd albums in my humble opinion.

Vietnam was a sincere attempt by patriots in government to slow the spread of Communism in S.E. Asia. However communists had infiltrated key positions in American society and sabotaged their efforts at every level.

Who owns the publishing to all these old Floyd songs, Gilmour or Waters?

Seeing them 4 times, I have NEVER seen this done live. It would have been bad-ass to see it! I was fortunate to see Welcome to the Machine done ONCE in 1987..and, that was awesome. They had a holographic armadillo like the one in the cartoon walking in mid-air above the audience at the Capital Center in Largo, Md. in Oct. of '87. That's the only time I've seen Floyd do it. I have, however, seen Roger Waters do it 2 out of the 3 times I've seen him. It obviously wasn't done for The Wall because The Wall is it's own show with NOTHING else done! No encores. Nothing. It starts. It ends. That's the whole show. I remember hearing idiots yelling 'encore!' at the end, knowing full well, The Wall was designed as it's own show. Even still, I preferred Floyd's version to Waters. It seemed more 'complete' to me. Waters had the sound with his voice attached to it, but Floyd had the visual aspect and that just blew me away! Both had their pluses and minus, I suppose. But, this? Never got to see it done. Kinda sucks but they have so much else to do in a 2 hour window!

These boys have talent. They work hard. They get along. They succeed in a very hard business: professional musicians. Roger Waters $310 million. Nick Mason $180 million. David Gilmour $140 million. Richard Wright $70 million.

I will never understand why Gilmour was able to write this excellent lyric, and the excellent lyric on 'The Narrow Way III', and 'Fat Old Sun', and then just stop writing lyrics after 1972 - until 1987 MLOR.
