Finally !!! I found the video I thought I had watched as a kid that went with this song, I was watching the 1st orginal video to this song and I could've sworn there were hammers in the one that scarred me when I was young ~ so I thought I was going crazy because there are no hammers in the first one! I finally found it and brings back memories of how unsettling it is watching this as a 5-6 year old.

Pink Floyd fan, or not, you have to admit: they hit the brick on the wall with this song...

Some of the imagery in this is really powerful and telling. Especially the teacher being a puppet, while the higher-up, maybe a school administrator or principal, morphs into the hammer that symbolizes the fascist regime this whole album/movie is about. It's all about how teachers, possibly unwillingly or even unknowingly, are puppets of the regime working to indoctrinate children into this conformist fascist society from a young age. Teaching them to have no imagination, to not think for themselves, to become expendable cogs in this fascist machine. This is what is meant by the teacher being "another brick in the wall," another piece of the oppression. It's not anti-education, it's not intended as the anthem of kids who would rather goof off than go to school - though said simpletons don't realize that. What it is is anti-fascist, anti-Authoritarian, which is all of this movie/album. The scene in the other video version of a teacher berating a student for writing poetry is also telling - the "protagonist" is creative and intellectual, would surely embrace schooling that encourages those rather than shaming it.
