Phish - 555 Lyrics
They're tying a blindfold cross my eyes
I rest my face down
Skidding on switchbacks near the sides
Gonna try to bust out
Hop off, roll down, spring up, live another day
Sprint on cobblestones past the tracks
They kept my money, and my water
Don’t wanna run ‘cuz I want it back
But I know I really ought to
If I don't break away clean
I might stray from the scene
Make an escape when it arrives:
They bought my soul for a pile of cash
Everybody else got paid out
They're closing in I gotta dash
I gotta find a way out
Hop off, roll down, spring up, live another day
Get up, jump out, don't wait
If I don't break away clean
I might stray from the scene
Make an escape when it arrives:
The 555

Phish 555 Comments
Imagine trying to convince someone that Phish is good and having to play them this song. Garbage.
Listening to it @ 4:20. Then again @ 5:55. ✌
5555 นี่คืออะไร
It may be called Fuego, but this album sounds like wet ashes. Their second effort with Ezrin, Big Boat, is vastly superior in concept and execution.
555 MINUTES MINUTES MINUTES
MIKE'S CREEK - TRUTH
Scott Murawski
"Bought my soul for a pile of cash"
whats that all about??
someone please make a perfect loop of 0:00-0:25
This has literally been stuck in my head for the past 3 weeks.
Phish is awesome!!!!!!!!
We always listen to this song at 5:55!!!
And just before @ 4:20 @😀
ANYONE who doesn't HIT THE LIKE BUttON, is obviously a rookie PhIsH FaN and has never been to a show. BUT, if you dont got hatters you aint doing something right...#PHISHBOSTONPRIDE

555 Hear It Wow CaMazing
the live version sounds great too imo
Sounds so much better than the live version. It doesn't hold up quite as well without the female vocals or horns.
Is it possible to hit the like button twice?
Dammit I was just thinking that! 😇
Fuego is one of the best albums I've bought in a long time.
Este Es Caliente
seems sweet to me.
How the fuck could you hit the dislike button on this
this song swings !
Personal opinions of phish--what phish is and was and will be--are moot. With or without one's piffel in the mix, phish is what it is, a result of what it was; and phish will be whatever it becomes. From "I saw you with a ticket stub in your hand" to "Inside your fuego, we keep it rollin'." If one doesn't like the "taste" du jour, one might consider refraining from poopooing that of one's phriends. (Although, I must admit, on some level, I do get a secret smile from reading some douchebags' expressions of disappointment, complaint, and loss--I mean, what's the use?)
Mr. No Shoes, from the Wish you Were Here concert, make sure you check out Chiodos!!!!
I'm in love with all the seasons of Phish. That makes me a true fan.
I guess if you don't have to pay for studio time you can mess around with vocals like that. I am really glad they are still making music....but what happened to their sound? It sounds like they found Jesus.
get rid of the singing and all the gospel shit and WHAMO instant success.
cool. i followed you guys around for 9 tours and somehow saw over 200 phish shows before newyearsday00,, then i went to live in a cave,, nice work. ~aloha
sam e. azure
i actually rly love this.
Pretty cool the band is putting out new tunes on youtube before you can buy the album?
People have criticized Clapton for doing everything from rock to jazz to country to reggae. They have also criticized AC/DC for doing the same album 20 times. I never compare an album to another album whether by the same artist or someone else. Comparing something a band recently recorded to something they made when they were half their current age is moronic at best. I'm not the same I was when I was 20, I don't expect the guys in Phish or anyone else to be. I like this track, hope the rest of the album is as good.
my god! an intelligent and well thought youtube comment!
So totally agree with you!
@jezmundberserker While your point is well made and rational, it's hard to deny when A is better than B. In this case, Lawn Boy is A and Fuego is B ;) Sorry, Fuego is just "meh"
This album is a breath of fresh air, but i can't wait to see where the band takes these songs live this Summer. The 10/31/13 Fuego set was pretty awesome.
Fishman kills on this track
wow i am surprised at how much i like this on the first listen. love the outro. it has a serious steely dan "caves of altamira" flavor to it.
HEY CHRIS RIORDAN !!! Why don't you go fuck yourself. By the way everybody...CHRIS RIORDAN is an awesome musician and definitely makes much better music than phish. You should listen to your own awesome music while you fuck yourself
Nothing against Bob Ezrin. He's been a terrific producer over a long period of time, but I just don't think he is a good mix with Phish. I hear an argument between creativity and commercialism in this. I'm sure that I will enjoy the album after a few listens, but with this sound is way too mainstream, but then again, it is nice to hear the Beatles influences in there.
Darby Kearney bob sucks
It's a studio album if u don't have faith phish will turn at least 3 of these songs into jam vehicles then A your wrong and B stay home. Light proves it all I hated that 2 min piece of garbage now it's one of my faves!
This album is so sick. People hates light like pure hatred!! Hmm what happened to that song. Keep listening to demos like junta and lawn now with no production value at all
so tight. these guys mean business again.
Beautiful and refreshing!
Mikes voice has come so far!
Like it, much better than waiting all night....
there is no reason why this shouldn't sound like MICHAEL GORDON song, Sounds good to me. It reminds me a lot of how Hoist was when it came out...doesn't sound the same but reminds me of how it was a Platform from which the guys would build up more stuff at the shows. If everything else is as good it should be a good album.
I'm not really impressed by this song. Maybe it has to grow on me...
fireeeeee
OK, no Phish expert here, but I do like the band. And I do like the funky feel of this. Keep jamming guys!
I started listening to this then I immediately thought, screw this I'm gonna go listen to Junta
I definitely agree with you there.
zRouth, there's no "maybe", it's definitely you.
Dude dont get me wrong, Phish classics like "Junta" "Billy Breathes" and Nectar are great and when phish was undoubtedly at their prime song writing wise, and jamming (late 80's-mid 90's). But phish still makes great relevant music. their style may be a little different on this album but i find it really catchy and fucking dig it. Hey, at least its not Farmhouse.
@Parker Eldridge
I thought Farmhouse was good..
@***** sound advice. thanks mate!
For me this is the most anticipated song I want to hear live this summer. Really looking forward to the new album
Very nice boys!
Very good. Can't wait for the new album.
it's aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
Coming from the wingsuit set, I lOVE the depth they added to it. The horns are such a great touch
Mike Gordon has really come into his own.
Sounds like the funky solo Trey kind of song but played by Mike's rhythm section and vocals
I have a new favorite phish song!
Came out great in the studio. LOVE THE HORNS and backing female vocals are great too. this tune kinda reminds me of "West LA Fadeaway" though not quite as good. Sry, not a huge Deadhead but west la is one of my favorite tracks by them. They both have a groovy swag about them.
Summer terrr's almost here!
Can you dig it, so super funky!
love, hartswick?
Does Mike know 555 is "LOL" and "HA HA HA" in Thai?
my favorite studio phish song ever
Do you want awesome Phish music or happy Phish members?
My fav Phish music is the older material - mix of highly composed masterpieces and great jamming. From a composing standpoint, it is all Trey and Marshall (95%)... which may leave the rest of the band less fulfilled artistically.
New Phish has more creative collaboration - which I am guessing makes the others happy but has resulted in good, not great Phish anthems. I would kill for a Trey/Marshall composed masterpiece (YEM, Stash, Antelope, Reba, Hood, Divided Sky, Guyute)... Maybe I am being snobish and should be happy they are still together.
TTE was a pretty big undertaking...and it got panned by fans...By the way, when i saw him play that with the LA philharmonic, i was awestruck.
aint no rift, or lawn boy stuff but at least they are bringing the funk, gordon is the best writer in the group i feel these days
best everything in the band to be honest.
@George Daly Woaahhh now, can't agree with you there. Page has been absolutely on FIRE the past several years...
Like it better than the other two new songs.
Mike Gordon vocals + Horns + Back-up Vocals = : )
this tune will be JAMMED ferociously this summer! See you on the lawn!
Tweezer ---> 555 or vice versa - that'll be sick
Mike is going to make this song DROP
This is great. Agree live is perhaps better but come on, when are phish songs better studio? These whet the appetite and are designed to be accessible. A++
back in 1991: Giant Country Horns! lol... pretty good tune.
The boyz are writing together, I like where this train is headed
hell ya
Absolutely beautiful.
Yessir,,,
RAAWWWWRRRR AH YEAH
Love those horns!
Nice Jam. See ya on the 1st. I'll be in da PIT!!!!
Thank You, Phish for writing a song about me!
Nice to hear that horn section on this new track. I like it, how about it @sherri patton
I do like the jam at the end thought, and I am not a fan of jams.
I'm with you @Scooty B I wasn't a fan of "undermind" or much anything post "nectar" but so far what I've heard from this new album, I like. (not love, but like)
@ken patton
you don't like rift?
Yea I do love rift @Bob Huber thanks
@ken patton
was gonna say...
Oh yea :). That's WAY more like it, boys...
It's 5:55 pm as I'm.leaving this comment :D
Oh, with Horns.
THE HORNS. That is all.
The boys are on fire with this new batch. Can't wait to hear a live cut.
They've played it twice, duder...Halloween (debut) and on 12/29/13. I was there for both of them and they rocked. Def one of my fav tracks off the new album.
One word. Horns.
JWitt30 BIG TIME
This is SICK!
Sounds good. Love the horns. And I'm digging the crispness of the production.
Had high hopes for this song. Kinda let down. The use of the background singers in the bridge was just bad. They are ok with oohs and ahs in the chorus, but that's it. The horns weren't bad just unnecessary. Also not digging the production as much on this either. The other 2 songs were downright beautiful in terms of production. This sounded like a general barn recording like something I'd hear on farmhouse. That's my two cents anyway. Loved the live version so hopefully this is the worst studio song on the album.
Love the horns!!!!
This and Say Something are Phish's best new songs! Way to go Gordon! Love this!
@George Daly Ah no, I didn't mean that they didn't play it. I listened to the version from dicks last year, but I meant that it's Mike's song off of Overstep. Phish played Yarmouth Road and Say Something prior to Overstep's release.
Wish Say Something and Yarmouth made it on the Phish album instead of Mikes solo
@d4ydr34m3r420 Yarmouth Road is a awful song and should never ever be played in front of people who like music.
@noah phence Yarmouth is jam man !!! Gordon just wants you to hang with the bees in the honey combs brah
noah phence Thanks again Scott Murawski - MIKE'S CREEK
Have a great summer everybody!
Another great track! Cant wait for this album!!!!
Dig it.
The funk is thick with this one
love how they are letting fish sing on this album.
T I G H T
Thats what I thought!! The songs they've released so far are so damn tight.
....Waiting all night for this album ;)
I'll see you at the Phish side of the Moon...
I preferred the 2013 Halloween version over this one. It was more pure and felt more like a Phish song than a Mike song with Trey and Page on backing vocals. Also, the horns polluted the song. But I'll wait to see if this grows on me. I'm really digging the other songs, though!
That's fish singing the background vox.
you have no idea what you are talking about.
Well it is a Mike song really.
What do you think about the horns on Split or on Julius? I'm glad they are back.
@Jay Fuller
They are completely fitting for Julius and acceptable in Split Open and Melt...I'm already getting used to them in 555, though...
