To Rudy Briskar-I saw your post, & I agree. In the next verse it says something to the effect of the following:"But if ye be without advisement, then are he bastards, & not sons". This is the problem that our churches face today-too many false Christians. They say one thing, but do another. Is it any wonder that so many churches (& people) destroy what God wants to do with us, especially when it comes to bringing precious lost souls to Jesus Christ? What a DEVASTATING effect hypocrisy has on a community! Our adversary, the Devil, truly walketh about, as a roaring lion, and he wastes no time in destroying and devouring anyone in his path!

You know, "they" (kinda) ARE ON TOUR, NOW, too! BUT, it's just 3 or 4 of the original Petra members, & they're goin by the name CPR. Check it out! They also got the album (well, CD) out called "Back To The Rock II", & are gonna start making videos for at least some of their songs (old classic Petra songs) off that album this coming November.

it's sad people how play mincraft get billions of likes but Petra is onley in the 29 milions if only people enjoyed singing praysi's to god as much as us 

Been a Petra fan since 1984, and saw them in concert for this album...this song has haunted me 30 years later. Seems like it's taken on more prophetic relevance in recent years as the world (and self-absorbed, prosperity gospel church) continue to fall apart.

Remember, brother, evil always kills itself, whether outside of, or inside of, the House of God! We need to fully get back to preaching against sin, because sin is a deadly disease that will kill anyone who plays with it for too long! Looking back at the Petra records in this time frame, you can see how this record was the transitional one, moving Petra from rock with a heavy dose of keyboards ("Beat the System") to plain ol' hard rock ("This Means War"). This song and "Fool's Gold" are my favorites from this record. I think this song can be applied to the church as a whole as well as to each person individually. Yet another example of Petra's lyrical genius.

Exactly! I remember hearing this for the first time after previous Petra albums and, uh, being shaken up. Same with "On Fire," that ripped me a new one (in a good way, haha).

I had bought this cassette at the salvation army for a quarter acouple years ago! Perfect condition. Loved them ever since! I got addicted to them and all their other albums. Shakin the house is one of my faves from them! They have so many great songs!

I purchased this brand new, back when it was released. The voice was radically different from Greg Volz, different and still excellent. When I heard the lyrics, I knew they were prophetic and would soon come to pass. Then within two years, "The House" started to shake, circa 1987, in "The Church", big time. When I think about the lyrics, I think of the headlines that hit, relatively shortly thereafter.

Reminds me of these passages of scripture :

this song is inspired from luke 6:47-49 - a person who's life is built on the principles of god will withstand the tests brought against it. there's another great passage to refer to as well re this: james 1:22-25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says...

it compares a person who sees their reflection in a mirror and upon turning away, forgets what they look like! but those who do what god says will be blessed. :)

please apply the words of this song to your own personal prayer life; this is not about a church or a particular major event within it. this is PERSONAL for every one of us. what disturbs me about many believers in christ is they often remove scripture from themselves and apply it to SOMEONE ELSE! bull! this is for the person in the mirror! (i take exception with aloof responses like that of endorphinsrus - that's a bunch of crap.)

Favorite Petra song, easily. Has been since I was 9.

It's easy to dismiss these guys, and there is no doubt they aren't exactly great musicians for the ages, but they also weren't talentless, they were quite good at what they did, they have some smart lyrics, and catchy tunes. I still love a lot of their stuff.
