Peterson, Andrew - The Good Confession Lyrics

I was a boy
Just nine years old
I heard the call and came

They buried me
Beneath the water
Then I rose again

Well, you know my dad was a preacher man
I walked the aisle and I took his hand
He said, "Son, just do the best you can
And say the words
'I believe he is the Christ, the Son of the living God'"

Through the years
I barely fell
I mostly dove right in
I drank so deep
From the shallow well
Only to thirst again

Well, I sang the hymns at the summer camp
Then I rocked and rolled with a lousy band
Till I heard a song that took my hand
And led me home

And I believe
He is the Christ
Son of the living God

And I believe
He is the Christ
Son of the living God

All I know is that I was blind
But now I see
That though I kick and scream
Love is leading me
And every step of the way
His grace is making me
With every breath I breathe
He is saving me
And I believe

So when my body's weak and the day is long
When I feel my faith is all but gone
I'll remember when I sing this song
That I believe

And I believe
He is the Christ
Son of the living God

And I believe
He is the Christ
Son of the living God

And I believe
He is the Christ
Son of the living God

And I believe
He is the Christ
Son of the living God

And I believe
He is the Christ
Son of the living God

My Lord, My Savior
My Lord, My Savior

Oh, Hosanna, I believe

    This song is Gold

Absolutely gorgeous. At the Ryman Auditorium this past September, Andrew told the story of how hearing "If I Stand" by Rich Mullins inspired this song. Singing the chorus along with 2300 some odd other voices is something I'll never forget. Praise Jesus- Son of the Living God!

It's...it's wonderful. So please, if you're considering giving up your own way and walking with God in His, if you've thought about letting Him lead you, do it. Do it as soon as you can. It's hard. But nothing worth having comes easy, and this is the one thing that every heart needs. And if you feel like you're not worthy, that you've failed too much already: I have failed at this more than I can count. Literally. Three years worth of failure. So don't you give up. He loves you. I love you. <3

This is to my brothers & sisters who are struggling with giving up their vice to walk with God: I'm right there with you. Today is the fifth day in a row that I've been sober from my pornography addiction, and I'm starting to feel withdrawal. But that line, 'Though I kick and scream, Love is leading me," that is so true. He leads me, though I fight every step. Giving Him my heart, making myself vulnerable, is the hardest thing I've ever done. But I can already feel His light in me.

Your honesty is such a sign of the thorough repentance. God gives grace to humble. Your testimony and the blood of the lamb overcome the enemy.

@JackoRoyal Actually, I am not done yet, you know yo tell me to educate myself about the bible and history and such.... Well, many studies have shown that the more educated one is, the less religious they are. Its quite a positive correlation as well.

So, the best way to protect your religion, is to not educate yourself really. And definately dont understand just how barbaric, immoral, and irrelevant the not so good book is. Seriously, search for, "the top ten reasons why the bible is repulsive

    t.... ....

Jack , I am praying for you! God set my mom free and healed her. He pulled us out of the darkest pit. He gave me a godly husband and 3 beautiful daughters. He forgave me when I fell and helped me up again. I see His mercy and redemption all through the Holy Scriptures.
But just like the pharisees who were mad (really they were jealous that they couldn't heal a fly) who were mad that a crippled man was healed on the rest day, if you open the Bible in order to get mad at Him you will (with the help of the enemy of your soul for sure) be able to find something that you can take out of context for that purpose.
Don't spend your precious days on this side of an eternity with only 2 places cooperating with the one who wants you to stay on the path to where he will be once day. Instead RUN, RUN into the arms of the One who died thinking of you as well when he let conspirators and Roman soldiers nail Him to the cross. You won't be sorry for eternity!

  16. t.... ....

@JackoRoyal I would also add that if this country was run as an actual christian country, that is if Christianity was declared the national religion and the bible and other christian dogma determined law, then we would see something very similar to Sharia Law. Not exactly like that though. You see, when yo have a group of people who claim to be in contact with infallible truth that reason or logic cannot touch. And this truth determines if you will be tortured forever or not... Bad things happen

  17. t.... ....

@JackoRoyal So what did I not learn from schools and books that you learned from your christian dogma machine... Last I heard, millions of countries and many nations claimed to have a personal experience with god and that he was on their side, and naturally the others were wrong and needed to convert or be exterminated as they are a threat to the earth..... The moral of the story is that religion and politics MUST be kept separate... Religious fundamentalism destroys a country very quickly..

  18. t.... ....

@JackoRoyal Ive read the bible and even went to bible school.. Watch the video titled "top ten reasons the bible is repulsive". Seriously, watch it and then tell me what yo think..... Also, tell me with a straight face that if you saw your daughter being tortured in hell simply because she lacked the evidence and reason to grovel at his feet.... That you would call that justice and she is getting what she deserves... Give me a break. Its obviously just playing on peoples fears, its not moral.

  19. J.... B....

    I Believe!!!!!

Guy's, as much as I have an opinion in the matter, either listen to the song and enjoy it for what it is, or don't listen to the song if Christianity offends you that much.

  21. G.... ....

@tempemonkey I said nothing about God guiding the US. If He did guide the US, nothing but good would come of it. Things would be different if He did, but He doesn't. Where did that come from anyway??

  22. t.... ....

@GDJoppa Let me guess, you probably think that god guides the United States as well..... Dont you crazy retards see.... You are no different than Islam... You both dogmatically follow an immoral ancient book and you both think god is on your countries side against against the other person.. Just look at European history if you think that your little occult is more moral than Islam...... Because it isnt... I just wish people would wake up and question their own country and their crazy beliefs.

  23. G.... ....

And as much as I would love to say that I would have done what Jesus did, I probably wouldn't have. When things got uncomfortable, I would have questioned what I got myself into. And I probably would have used my power to help myself at times. I personally can only take so much abuse before I fight back. I'm only human, but then again Jesus was more than human...

  24. G.... ....

@tempemonkey All I have is truth! God created man and gave man free will. Man chose sin instead of God. Sin ultimately leads to an eternity in Hell. Instead of most of the world going to Hell, God sent Jesus to take the punishment for them and to teach them how to live because they were astray.
One has to understand that God is a Holy God. Sin has no place in Him or with Him. So if man is sinful, man cannot be with God. The only place left is Hell.

    G.... ....

"There is none righteous" Some pleased God in the Old Testament for instance, but God still needed to punish Christ for their sin (Psalms 22, Isaiah 53). They believed and it was counted for them as righteousness. "For without faith it is impossible to please God"

    G.... ....

Thank you +GDJoppa for your faith in the Almighty!!!

    G.... ....

All glory and honour and praise be to God! The maker of heaven and earth!

  25. 1.... ....

Matthew 25:41 says that hell was, "prepared for the devil and his angels."
2 Peter 3:9 says that the Lord is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

What do those verses tell us about God? That God has an enemy--Satan & He has prepared judgment for him & that God doesn't want any person to end up in that judgment. But we've all followed Satan's lead--and are due for the same judgment unless we accept the forgiveness He's offered us through his Son Jesus.

  26. t.... ....

@GDJoppa First of all, you think that a god who demands human sacrifice is worthy of praise..... Wow... You dont realize that this is just stone aged mythology? wow

Secondly, are you saying you would not do what Jesus did. That is, if you were a god man who created an immoral system of justice and for some reason the only looophole is that you must sacrifice yourself to yourself in order to keep people from being tortured for not worshiping you... Crazy stuff when you actually THINK about it.

  27. G.... ....

@tempemonkey What Jesus Christ did was a Great deal! He gave His life as an offering to God on the cross in our behalf. He took our place because we needed to be rescued from our sin and its death penalty. He displayed unprecedented love! He left His Father in heaven to become a lowly human, and save us from ourselves!

  28. t.... ....

@GDJoppa Gods perfect righteousness demanded that he sacrificed a perfect human being as the object of his wrath.... You seriously believe this? That is not justice, that is stone aged mythology.... Wake up!!!

Again, If I was a perfect god man, and if god really did demand that a person be sacrificed in order to feed his blood lust, I would do what Jesus did.... What he did was not that big of a deal considering the consequences, both positive and negative.

    t.... ....

Sir, how wrong you are! You have no idea what Christ suffered! He was publicly displayed as a propitiation for the sins of the world. Whoever justifies the wicked or condemns the righteous, both of them alike is an abomination to the Lord! Christ justified the wicked in the death he died at the hand of His Father, bearing the curse of sin, so that His Father had no other option than to crush Him!!! He drank the cup and not one drop remained. The Father is now able to freely forgive sinful men, as His wrath was appeased then. In longsuffering He walked with His people before. Recreation is now available, where God removes the heart of stone and gives you a heart of flesh!!! Believe on the Lord GOD!!! Please, Sir!

  29. G.... ....

God is a righteous God, and so he can not let sin go unpunished. Sin was running rampant in people's lives, but God had mercy on us by sending his own sinless son to take on our sin and pay our price for us. Jesus Christ alone was qualified to die this substitutionary death. His death, as ours, was acceptable to God. Now when we believe in Christ, His death is counted in God's sight as our own. So our debt of sin is righteously paid, and we are saved.

  30. G.... ....

@tempemonkey That's not true. No 'decent' person would have done what Jesus did. No one person COULD HAVE done what Jesus did. That's the reason it HAD to be Jesus. There is not one person on this Earth that could've lived the sinless life that Jesus did. Jesus didn't just merely die for others on Earth, he took God's WRATH! Jesus took on God's wrath so we wouldn't have to. Sin had been so prevalent that not many had the righteousness needed to be with God, so Jesus gave us his righteousness.

  31. t.... ....

@UnstableCon Any decent person would willingly go through exactly what Jesus did if it meant that they would prevent millions from being tortured forever... Even more so if you created the rules and the means for them to be tortured in hell for eternity.. Even more so if you were a god and would just come back to life to rule the universe in a couple days..... Jesus sacrificing himself to himself because he created an immoral system of punishment is nothing to hold up as a virtue..
