Peter, Paul And Mary - All My Trials Lyrics

All my trials Lord, soon be over.
Hush little baby, don't you cry
You know your mama was born to die
All my trials, Lord, soon be over

Too late my brothers, too late, but never mind.
All my trials Lord, soon be over.

I had a little book was given to me,
And every page spelled Liberty.
All my trials Lord, soon be over.

If religion were a thing that money could buy,
The rich would live and the poor would die.
All my trials Lord, soon be over.

The river Jordan is chilly and cold
It chills the body but warms the soul
All my trials, Lord, soon be over

There is a tree in Paradise
The Pilgrims call it "The Tree Of Life"
All my trials Lord, soon be over.

Too late my brothers, too late, but never mind.
All my trials Lord, soon be over.
All my trials Lord, soon be over.

Over 200 k views in 2019... PP&M are like the Beatles -- so good, they're eternal.

  7. C.... R....

Oh, my sweet son, I hope your troubles are over. We miss you so much, soon we will be there with you. I know you have no more pain darling son >

  8. T.... ....

As a musician of 57 years, I feel qualified to say that music needs at least two components: contrast and feeling. Mary sings this with about as much feeling as I have ever heard in a song. Didn't take long for tears to flow on this one. Of course, the message is spot on. Time is running out. Choose Life. Choose Jesus. NOW. While you still can.

  9. b.... ....

Always loved PP&M...and this is why !!

  10. B.... B....

That beautiful contralto voice. I want this played at my memorial service.

  11. A.... H....

    Miss them so much.

  12. m.... ....

What a beautiful arrangement for their lovely voices.

  13. F.... R....

it's nice to see the deep water into Peter Paul and Mary's music it's a beautiful stuff I used to listen to it back and 65 you probably help too yeah I was trying to finish the thought but yeah recommending something you're probably hit your which is the Great Mandela mandala

  14. T.... G....

Very beautiful ... thanks for sharing ...

  15. R.... M....

one of the most moving simple/great songs about our messy messy destructive species, and yes Mary would be so upset to see where we all are now

  16. J.... V....

Sweetest alto east of Karen Carpenter.

  17. I.... f....

A genre woefully absent in the dark days we fearfully wander through. There is some protest but way too much complicity and too many cut-throat mercenaries. Nukes, global melt down, or both?

  18. 2.... ....

Some great versions of this lovely song, but this is so subtle. Thank you for posting.

  19. J.... R....

Nobody can sing this song like Peter, Paul and Mary...

    J.... R....

The top of top greatest music ensemble ever. Those voices that blend to virtuosity. They were best in
A live venue. I miss them

  20. L.... E....

my uncle garnet loved THIS album. we ARE one!

  21. L.... E....

    love YOU gARNEETE!

    not as angry

  23. G.... F....

Still touches my heart after 50 years as a admirer

  24. L.... ....

My God, if I encounter one more Embril Ad I will just start screaming. The Ad is too long and too boring. If I ever get RA, I will deal with the pain rather than give a penny to this company!

  25. s.... ....

This song, this version, had a formative effect on me, in the day. Even now it comes just appears in solos, or when I'm alone and playing. TY!

  26. P.... M....

    Hands-down, THE finest version---ever---of this magnificent song.  PP&M, Forever. --------Wolfsky9, 69 y/o

    W.... ....

It's fab, but I think Judith Durham's version is truly out of this world.

  30. J.... J....

by far, best version of the song.     mary travers sings like an angel here.

    J.... J....

    Spot on there John.

    J.... J....

That natural voice that could sing with anyone. A slight husk to her contralto
And she could do a male tenor. I miss her and the Boys

  31. N.... T....

    I love this.

  32. L.... ....

    Too late, but never mind.

  33. B.... ....

PP&M they gave their best to audiences on records and better yet in Person ------performers never to be seen again.
thankful we have their records and videos.

  36. A.... L....

A voz da Mary é de arrepiar.

    A.... L....

Airton Lopes Verdade, mesmo com as mudanças devido a idade, sua voz sempre continuou linda. E esse trio? Que combinação!!! não?? MARAVILHA...

  37. L.... R....

This arrangement is my all time favorite. Thanks for making it available. Love PP&M!

    L.... R....

Larry, I also just love this song..

  38. B.... ....

Beautiful, but my favorite version is by Michael Kamen and the New York Rock.

  39. B.... A....

As usual... Just beautiful ... Thanks to PP&M / BEA from the sixties.

  40. K.... R....

    Kenn Follet

  41. J.... C....

I Agree - Sarah Dobrowski. Best version I can find... not trying to be too clever with obscure harmonies and  messing with pace... the lyrics and the basic minimalist essential harmonies are all that's needed... any more detracts from the real roots of the song... it is not a concert piece.

    J.... C....

    +John Cahill
June Carter's sister, Anita, covered this song, an incredible voice, perfect for this song. It is here on YouTube, thankfully.

    J.... C....

    Harry Belafonte best version.

  42. G.... C....

Am I the only one who has just 16  here ?

  43. j.... s....

sadly the lines about if religion were a thing money could by is so true  thankfully God doesn't care how rich or poor you are

    j.... s....

@***** not if they are Real Believers  but you are right a lot of them do

    j.... s....

    God bless you Jennifer

  44. J.... G....

Do you think you have the ad loud enough?

  45. v.... ....

PM&M are so amazing! It´s Friday night and I´m listening to them and letting my mind fly away.  I saw them in NYC in December 1999 and it was a wonderful concert. Thanks for everything guys. Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil.

  46. V.... S....

This song is good enough for my music professor to assign as homework and transcribe it. Anyone want to do it for me?

  47. O.... B....

    They do it SO WELL.

    O.... B....

    The truth !

  48. D.... R....

I've always loved PP&M, but had heard only the Kingston Trio version, which is a bit more upbeat.  I was put off at first by the difference, but by the end of the 1st verse, I was hooked (as usual).  Quite beautiful; quiet power from Mary, lovely harmony from Peter, guitars following their usual guideline of keeping it simple, but not too simple.

    D.... R....

Joan Baez did a particularly stunning version in her early years, as did many solo singers in the 6o's but this ties as my fave

  49. S.... K....

I love this one so much, thank you for posting!

  50. g.... p....

sheer beauty and inspiration ...thanks for sharing....R.I.P. Mary and Pete...all my musical heroes leaving....

    O.... ....

    In choir

  52. A.... ....

I have prayed for countless hours while caring for the dying.
I have seen countless unexplainable things to doubt.
I have brought back hundreds from the depths of hell and eased a few on to paradise.
I have seen only fear in the souls of unbelievers and peace in the faithful during their last breaths.
I know that my redeemer lives.
If God doesn't exist, my belief made my life worth living.
    Listen to Mahalia Jackson.
May God Bless you as I have been.

    A.... ....

    Absaalookemensch well said!!

    A.... ....

    @Beth Griffin God definitely
    exists

  53. J.... ....

Very sorry for your loss Joe!

  55. S.... G....

Beautiful song, beautiful arrangement and singing....thanks!!!

  56. 1.... ....

    The original? It's a traditional.

    1.... ....

Some people think "original" means whatever they heard first...

  57. e.... ....

Joe, I hope your pain has eased over the past year.

  58. J.... ....

theres no god .. but god bless anyway

  59. W.... ....

To Joeinahola, My heart breaks for you, & my Prayers are with you. I also lost my wife at home, my Brother to AIDS , & my parents, & older sister. I know what you feel--God Bless. Wolfsky9

  60. V.... W....

    Peace to you brother.

  61. V.... W....

Music really don't need no words. The heart knows what's being said.

  62. E.... R....

This was one of the most touching songs I ever heard, I'm brazilian and maybe I was just seventeen, didin't understand, but I used to cry just in leasining...

    E.... R....

God Bless You Eliana ,It's always made me cry too.

  63. s.... ....

I'm sorry for your loss and for your wife's suffering. Thank you for sharing.

  64. f.... ....

So sorry you lost your wife and that she suffered a long time.
"All my trials, soon be over." How wonderful that you were able to sing to her in the ICU -such a meaningful and poingnant song to sing for your dear wife.

  65. M.... K....

thank you !!!! The Original - it ROCKS!!

  66. L.... ....

So sorry to hear about this. You picked a great song for her.

  67. g.... ....

I miss you Mary Travers ♥

    g.... ....

    yeah,  me too.

  68. 1.... ....

We have somehow become as individuals and nations so wreckless, violent, perverse and self-centered--even after all the terrible lessons of history--that no longer WILL we hear such music as this from such singers as these. But, dear God, how we need to !

  69. G.... ....

Joe you have my sympathy. I don't think you could have picked a nicer song for her.

  70. M.... ....

    So sorry for your loss.

  71. m.... ....

One of the loveliest songs they did. No one sings like Mary Travers did.

  72. J.... G....

    Sublime!

  73. J.... M....

I love this song. It is so sad and yet so uplifting at the same time. Mary's voice is sublime.

  74. M.... C....

Their songs are still valid with what is going on in the US today. Endless wars, inequality and increased poverty.

  75. M.... E....

I grew up with Peter, Paul and Mary and there songs can still bring a lump to my throat. RIP, dear Mary - all your trials are now over.

  76. c.... d....

    same :)

  77. S.... ....

    @SweetLittleSab Same here :]

  78. M.... S....

    @SweetLittleSab me too !

  79. S.... ....

God bless Peter, Paul and Mary.

  80. f.... ....

Ah, to see this -- when Mary was full of life, looking so healthy and so much life ahead of her. So sad, her healthy days came to an end - so sad to hear of her passing.

  81. j.... ....

only these man viewings, mary was so soulful love this group
