Peter Hollens - Timbers & Wind (Red Wedding) Lyrics
Now there once was a time when the northerners sang
Of a king they had crowned: more a boy than a man,
More a pup than a wolf, with the cold of the realm in his eyes
He'd broken a vow to the lord of the Twins:
So the Lord Frey demanded a bridegroom as compromise
And the timbers groaned
River wind softly moaned,
"For the King in the North doesn't know
How a red wedding goes"
Oh, the feasting was plenty and the singing in tune
And the Stark wolves, they howled 'neath their northern moon
So loud were their cries that the closing of doors was drowned out
Lady Catelyn alone had the river's sharp ear
Heard dancing reels turn to the Rains of Castamere
In her skin and bones growled a creature of doubt
And the timbers groaned
Winter wind softly moaned,
"For the King in the North soon will know
How a red wedding goes"
There were arrows and daggers, and the touch of them burned;
From players to slayers in an instant were turned
And the foreigner Queen was the first to fall under the knife
With two arrows in him, the King crawled to her side
While his mother, she pleaded for the Lord to subside
But he'd taken their word, and to break it meant no right to life
And the timbers groaned
River wind softly moaned,
"For the King in the North, now he knows
How a red wedding goes"
Lord Bolton approached; with a thrust to Robb's heart
He gave him the Lannister Lions' regards
And the king's mother wept, for his last word had called her to him
There was nothing she felt cutting Lady Frey's throat
And she felt nothing more when they slashed her own
The North will remember, she thought, and they'll have all your skins
And the timbers groaned
Now the wolves lie below
For the King in the North, if he'd known
How a red wedding goes
And the timbers groan
But the North waits; they know
That one day the blood that they're owed
Will run 'neath their soles
Will run 'neath their soles

“When i was a girl, i was foolish. I couldn’t tell the difference between a raw chicken and a raw duck. But everything changed. My family, my life, my home. All of it gone. Im no longer a girl, nor am i a lady. I am Arya Stark. I’ve killed many people in my time alone - don’t make me add you to my list.”

I love your music. If i ever get my bills back under control i getting a one of your CDs
schönes lied lieb grüße von sängerin cindy busch like und abo von mir
This song would be so amazing with a deep dark voice, since the subject matter here is quite dark. It feels like it should be like an oath of vengeance.
It sounds great now, but I think it would be better with some deeper/darker tones and maybe a bit slower as well.
"The North remembers."
The person who wrote this is as gifted as the man who sings it.
This gave me chills! ❤️
Might I ask why this beautiful piece of music is not on iTunes?
Robb and Catelyn 💔
Am I only one who is getting tears in eyes😭😍

OMG TIMBERS AND WINDS!
Peter hollens:- singing
Got addicts:- king of the covers!!!!!!!!!!
I have never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones but this fan song has so much emotion that I quite literally had tears in my eyes. I’m not joking either. Certain songs heighten my emotions to the point my eyes form tears and this one did just that. You as the singer, and the lady that wrote the song are both amazing.
You should watch it. It gets worse toward the end but if you don’t pay attention to details you will feel just as intensely!

Glory to the stark 🐺
Just of how much season 8 was dissapointing...GoT made even Peter Hollens to make a GoT song And it would be perfect for the last season, sadly unlike the last season
CHILLS LITERAL CHILLS
Wosh the elder scrolls had songs as good as this one.
This is an amazing prelude to lady stoneheart, even if you haven't read the books
Nice song, very eloquent. But......
To house Lannister *Hear me Roar*
And house Frey *We Stand Together*
To House Bolton *Our Blades Are Sharp*
He totally looks like he could be a tully in the show

Jesus Peter I love you.
amazing !!👏👏
I felt this when he said red wedding
Where was this this video shot?
The heart of the songs has always been there but your Acapella music manages to capture the soul of the song. You are incredible. I know I am too old. But you give a new meaning to music young and old. Give music new meaning. Keep going strong.
Coming back for about the fiftieth time on this one - you know, there are places in here where I could have sworn I heard strings. But it's all you. Shaking my head at how wonderful it is.
You're really great. I'm guessing you know that though.
Holy crap!!! Chills, bro. Chills.
Damn you really give us the felling of game of thrones great song keep doing this great job👏👏🤩🤩
I don't even watch GoT, but I keep returning to listen to this, because it's so incredible! This song gives me all kinds of emotions for the characters, even not knowing them. XD
Best cinematography I have ever seen
The girl sang it better and tf is up with the melodramatic video.
You made me cry, this is sooo amazing😍😍could someone please comment the lyrics?
I saw Game of Thrones and the song describes the red wedding so well
Ok dude I'm crying thx
ohh man any change u can make a song about battle of the bastards and how arya avenged the red wedding ? :)
When you're a bard and survived all the crazy things in Westeros
Better than season 8
Listening to anything Peter sings on a Bluetooth speaker heightens the entire listening experience— makes it a hundred times better than it already is. :)

That episode in particular does and always will remind me of the Glencoe massacre in Scottish history. And yes, the North does remember. So tragic that real life weaves its way so seamlessly into our fantasy, just as cruel, bloody and unforgiving.
Love this song I just can see every scene in my head while you sing its that good👏🏻👏🏻
And in less than 4 minutes, Peter Hollens out does Seasons 7 & 8.
Love you so much.
Just bought this on iTunes!
The nature is stunning! (The music as well!)
Gave me chills
Standing on the cliff you look so great, your eyes shine such a bright blue. You did a great job of this video. Peace and Love.
This is so BEAUTIFUL.
NORTH REMEMBER!!!
I want to thank you. I am running a Homebrew D&D game and was running out of ideas. This song gave me the inspiration I needed for my next campaign. My world has a rich history and I'm going to make use of it setting the next campaign 2,000 years earlier when the two major elven kingdom were still in a state of open hostilities, but not outright war. One of those kingdoms is a northern kingdom of snow elves locked in an eternal winter called the Frostfell. The other is called Neverwinter (it's a long story)
Now there once was a time when the northerners sang
Of a king they had crowned: more a boy than a man,
More a pup than a wolf, with the cold of the realm in his eyes
He'd broken a vow to the lord of the Twins:
Wed a stranger, a beauty, but a promise there'd been
So the Lord Frey demanded a bridegroom as compromise
There were arrows and daggers, and the touch of them burned;
From players to slayers in an instant were turned
And the foreigner Queen was the first to fall under the knife
With two arrows in him, the King crawled to her side
While his mother, she pleaded for the Lord to subside
But he'd taken their word, and to break it meant no right to life
And the timbers groaned
River wind softly moaned,
"For the King in the North, now he knows
How a red wedding goes"
Lord Bolton approached; with a thrust to Robb's heart
He gave him the Lannister Lions' regards
And the king's mother wept, for his last word had called her to him
There was nothing she felt cutting Lady Frey's throat
And she felt nothing more when they slashed her own
The North will remember, she thought, and they'll have all your skins
And the timbers groaned
Now the wolves lie below
For the King in the North, if he'd known
How a red wedding goes
And the timbers groan
But the North waits; they know
That one day the blood that they're owed
Will run 'neath their soles
Will run 'neath their soles
You can imagine Sansa hearing this from someone perhaps singing softly outside Winterfell, Arya maybe somewhere in Essos, and they just acknowledge. It hurts, but they’re at peace.
OMG the lyrics are so touching and makes me remember each moment of the bloody episode
There should be songs about what happened to House Frey and House Bolton when they crossed House Stark, let them be the new House Reyne
Very well done Peter. Loved it.
