Peter Gabriel - The Tower That Ate People Lyrics
There's a bump in the basement
There's a knocking on the wall
In the pumping of the pistons
I swear I heard your call
There's a bump in the basement
There's a guard in the garden
Locking up the door
There's a rumble in the floorboards
No shutting out the sound
And the workers are below me digging underground
Feel the building all around me
Like a wrap of armored skin
But the more we are protected
The more we're trapped within
We're building up and up
We're building up and up
We're building up and up
We're building up and up
Till we can touch the sky
Tell it like it is
Till there's no misunderstanding
When you strip it right back
Man feed machine
Machine feed man
Tell it like it is
Till there's no misunderstanding
Make up what you like
Man fed machine
Machine feed man

I just for the life of me can't see how ANYONE would thumb this down. Are...you...KIDDING ME???!!! This song just pumps me up so damn much. Wish I would've known about it back when I was bodybuilding. Could've built a great routine to this!
Red planet- a guilty pleasure ;)
Not guilty. It's an okay movie that aged pretty well.
maybe you like to check out our rework of the original track ... cheers ;) Peter Gabriel - The Tower That Ate People (Klangtronik & Sebastian Bierbaums Rework)
Soooo high....

This is a different mix from Gabriel for the movie Red Planet. It's on the soundtrack.
Rockin' Remix. Thanks for this.
Very good remix + video. Who did the remix? - Pursche70?
Finally a version that isn't like 60 seconds long! Thanks a million!
I l-l-love it!!! ^^
I'm not usually one for remixes but this one is truly outstanding!
An anthem for the era - "The more we're trapped within"
yeah
"But the more we are protected, the more we're trapped withiiiiiin!" So true.
You're wrong. The version in Hit is different and shorter.
i watched the movie...now i owe the movie and the song, thankx
Same here. Badass movie, badass song!!!
Brick by brick by brick...
Tell it like it is...
This song was released in 1999, two years before the Towers That Ate People....Scary.
The Hit ablum does not have this version,it only has the regular version sadly Love THIS SONG!!!
Wow - I think that dominant loop synced up with my Delta waves :)
Excellent Gabriel song. Conjures up so many images in my mind. Thanks for posting.
@potatoman475 indeed it is one of the very rare cases where remix 1. keeps the essence of the original (it has same fantastic 'industrial' darkness), 2. emphasises its parts - the typical Gabiel-esque middle section gets this sequences superb treatment, I dare say it went way beyond the original's build-up to the finale. Superb.
Excellent mini-critique. I concur wholeheartedly. A whole new nuance, designed to give us a similar effect as the original but with a little more 'gas to take us home'.
I really liked the picture of the running track! :)
"In the pounding of the pistons, I swear I hear your call."
Great video.
I love this remix. Where do I get this version of this song.
@Pursche70 Might as well just say....there IS no 'style' or 'genre'....just say ITS PETER GABRIEL. lol. How do you define it?
Good ! Excellente musique ! Very nice melody ! Yééééé !
Tangerine Dream would be somewhat similar-without vocals. Leave it to Peter to make another mixed genre
It also on Peter Gabriel - Hit (The Definitive Collection) CD2 [Miss]
I think The Orb listened to this...
j'adore le debut
