One of his best songs. For me the best.
A wondrous song. I saw some of the 'Pictures Of Lily' at a pub, when I was 15. It was at Climping , on the South Coast. I had just discovered the song - saw the antique pics and it was a moving moment. Scantily-clad Edwardian lady in postcard triptych, i seem to recall. Black and white. I wonder if any more remain. It was quite the thing to do, at the time - John Lennon - 'Mister Kite,' and such. Not a bad year for ditties. (By the way, i think this track pisses on Mister Kite from a great height. Ruddy clown music! Burp!)
