Seriously this is Petes greatest achievement of music. Where the hell did he come up with these chord changes??? Tommy has always stood out to me as their greatest achievement. Not even as the Who's achievement but as Petes alone. The true "WHO" was Pete. They all added something to the whole with out a question of a doubt but seriously Pete was it. Musical genius. Where he lacked in technical skill, he made up for in composition PERIOD!! But seriously where the fuck did he get those chord changes??? I would love to know

The song did not change; this is like the album version , except for Roger. Townsend was a marvel.

I love the elaborate Pete Townshend demos! I think some of them are superior to the final versions, even vocslly. However, I always felt this was a special song on Tommy, and that Roger Daltrey did a truly fantastic lead performance. Not to mention the tremendously exciting, propulsive backup vocals that are not here. Still, this is a good demo of a great song.
I wish more songwriters would release their home demos. (A great songwriter named Jules Shear did one, called Demo-Itis.)
