I have the feeling her voice back then was way more powerful and she didn't feel under pressure showing off her beautiful voice. She slayed some latest performances though. I loved her performance of Dark Horse at Harpars Bazar 2015.

Katy's news on her new album coming most likely in 2016 is that she plans to "reinvent herself". Hopefully she will move on to this kind of music that she was CLEARLY MEANT to sing. She is absolutely amazing in the acoustic and this sorta soft jazzy pop genres. Don't get me wrong,I LOVE pop Katy, but this is the kind of music that will really shut all the haters up bc bae can SING. End of story. #queen

I agree that Katy definitely sounds really amazing in this type of music but I don't know if it's the genre she's meant to be in. We haven't really seen a whole lot of Katy in this style aside from when the whole I kissed a girl thing happened and she sang in a lower register than she does now. I'm a katycat and just ughh. OMG you know it already! I was feeling the same, Legendary Lovers 2.0! I was so obsessed with Legendary Lovers, I still am. And Witness is just stunning..I loved Katy for her One Of The Boys album and wasn't a big fan of Teenage Dream (instead of a few songs), but with Witness..god it's so so good. Legendary Lovers mixed with I'm Still Breathing in a modern way.

I think it's because he left that melody very simple, with little inflections. It's a very direct vocal, which lets you concentrate on what he's saying, rather than how he's saying it. I found with this version, her inflections and "flutterings" only distracted me from the melody, and the words didn't have as much weight. She sings it nice, but it's like listening to a bumblebee going from flower to flower.
