Perry Como - Ivy Rose Lyrics

Ivy Rose, Ivy Rose, I'm in love with you
Cling to me, cling to me like a vine
I'll be yours when tonight is a memory
I'll be yours and you'll always be mine

As the years disappear in the twilight of time
With a sigh we will fondly recall
All the plans that we made, how we kissed unafraid
In the shade of the old ivy wall

Ivy Rose, Ivy Rose, I'm in love with you
Cling to me, cling to me like a vine
I'll be yours when tonight is a memory
I'll be yours and you'll always be mine

Hand in hand as we stand 'neath the old campus moon
Make believe that tomorrow is here
Picture me close to you in a dream house for two
Where the ivy grows greener each year

Ivy Rose, Ivy Rose, I'm in love with you
Cling to me, cling to me like a vine
I'll be yours when tonight is a memory
I'll be yours and you'll always be mine

@Dassoon Fitz I included the info in the description under the video, as with all my postings. The other side of the single was "Just Born (to Be Your Baby)".

    D.... F....

Just born to be your baby...was on the B side.

I have a vivid recollection of Perry singing this on his 15 minute show that aired at 6:45 PM 5 nights a week back in the innocent 50's.   Ivy Rose was the "B" side- Just Born was the "A" side- but me, I think RCA had it backwards. (The same with Catch A Falling Star,- "A' side and Magic Moments, "B" side.  Magic Moments is now a standard).  Thanks for sharing.

Cats, thank you so much for posting this. It evokes very fond memories of me and my younger sister sitting at our father's feet as he sat in his big chair and sang this to us that Christmas. This is the first and only memory I have of our father singing. He was normally a very reserved and stern man but this song obviously moved him as it did us when he sang it. It still moves me. Beautiful lyrics and melody. God bless!

Thanks for the memories!!!! I used to dance to this beautiful waltz and had great dreams of a rose and vine covered cottage with the man I loved, together forever!!! It didn't happen that way but the dreams were wonderful!!!! My mother used to say,"wishing doesn't make it so!"I don't believe anyone could have done more justice to this song than Perry Como, beautiful smooth voice!!! Thanks for posting!!

Forgot to mention that some years ago there was a video of Perry singing this one on one of his TV shows. Unfortunately it longer inhabits youtube.

Thanks for posting this one. This was one of Perry's that I had never heard on radio or even seen referred to on TV or in print. Back in the 80's or 90's there used to be syndicated programming on some radio stations called The Music of Your Life. It was there that I heard this beautiful song, which I think is as good as any Perry ever did. Another song I heard on that venue was The Longest Walk by Jaye P. Morgan. I'm not a great fan of hers, but song is also just wonderful.

This takes me back to my college days in New Jersey. I had a girl friend who was from DC. You needed a license to broadcast on the radio back then, and when I passed my license exam, she threw me a party with pretty much every friend I had.
