Perry Como - If I Loved You Lyrics
If I loved you
Time and again I would try to say
All I'd want you to know!
If I loved you
'Round in circles I'd go!
Longing to tell you
But afraid an' shy
I'd let my golden chances pass me by!
Soon you'd leave me
Off you would go in the mist of day
Never, never to know
How I love you
[instrumental break]
[repeat last verse]

Perry Como If I Loved You Comments
Always a treat to hear Perry Como sing! I love that he sung this song, because Carousel is one of my favorite musicals 💞
an angel who sang like an angel
Read the bible, John. Angles do many things for our God, but they do not sing. There is not one place in Scripture where they sing. However, our Father in heaven sings, and THAT is in the bible. 11/14/2019
I Love You!!!
You wouldnt have to say a thing.if you even just showed up again, i would know💎
Classical Como! Amazing ability to transport the listener.
Sensacional
his voice is perfect but this is too explosive. he sang it much better on TV in the 50s.
Mario Lanza is the only person who I enjoy more than Perry, but I was glued to that TV when Perry was on. I love how he loved his wife and children, and never spent timem with a "Rat Pack," as "fame" wasn't as important as his home and family. 11/14/2019
Perry was like Irene Dunne: Not good copy.As I recall, the year after she died, The Oscars didn’t even memorialize her. Yet The was a major figure or the ‘30s and “40s. Yet she could do anything, and did them . Never got an Oscar, even a honorary one.
Perry chose his family life over "fame," so he didn't get all the respect that Sinatra and others received, but Sinatra had an ugly life. Perry knew Jesus.
The most beautiful recording of this famed show tune!
Kirk Barkley Absolutely!
Beautiful it is, but don't forget to listen to Mario Lanza sing this song. The power is great. Perry had a much better life with proper balance than most other singers. He was a family man and stayed home five nights a week. His family always came first when he was a barber, and it stayed that way. He had a moral compass, which was and is missing in so many others. TY for the upload, sublime performance & superb song.
Great ONE Thanks for Posting This
My favorite song of all time, since it was introduced in 1945.
magnífica música do filme CARROSSEL, música de Richard Rodgers e letra de Oscar
Hammerstein 2nd. Perry Como tinha uma voz maravilhosa, e gravou centenas de músicas
Wow that barber could really sing anything one of the great Italian singers missed by all who have ears.
+Janice Murphy Here is another great recording by Perry, Janice.

It's such a shame that we don't have a singer this day and age that I would want to listen to as much as I enjoyed the voice of Parry Como. There's no one I can compare him to. I'm so glad that I have a little computer! 11-14- 2019
When I was in seventh grade I was given some tickets to the Perry Como radio show.I sat next to Dutch Leonard, (just luck)a famous golfer at the time, and he asked me if I would like to go back stage to meet Perry. He said" I give Perry golfing lessons."It was twenty minutes before showtime when he took me backstage.I remember Perry being nervous smoking and pacing. He relaxed when he saw Dutch .When I was introduced to him he shook hands with me and put his arm around me.Asked where I lived and how I was doing in school.I told him.He signed my program .He waved to me when he came on stage. He was a true gentleman a jewel of a man.I will never forget him.
GREAT memory!!!!
I loved Perry. I read that he stayed home with his family, only came in to work for rehearsing and to do the TV show, which is why he never became as famous as Frank Sinatra and otheres. Bing Crosby said many times that he wished he could sing the way Perry did and sound the same. I love that he was a family man, and that "family," came before "fame." I thank God that he had a TV program, and I got to listen to him each week. November 14, 2019
Beautiful story from a time in America that we'll never see again.....sigh
Perry Como was another of the wonderful Italian singers and I loved to hear him sing. His TV programs were just wonderful. I still rank Sinatra above all the singers however.
@century123ful WELL SAID. THE OTHER GREAT ITALIAN VOICE WAS MARIO LANZA. FROM MY HOME TOWN SOUTH PHILLY. GOD BLESS
@frank cresta Let's not forget Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Vic Damone, Frank.
@catman916 NEVER EVER. LOVED THEM ALL. ESPECIALLY FRANK. CHECK OUT MY YOU TUBES FRANK CRESTA MY KIND OF TOWN. PLUS OTHERS. TONY IS STILL GOING STRONG. THANKS
sinatra one of the most over rated singers of all time had the delivery but not the voice
another song my daddy loved to sing!
I found Perry singing this song in 1993--when he was 81--and it sounded good. His vibrato was not as it was earlier, but the tone was still clear and falls easily on the ear.
Amen. Frank was okay when he was young, but his voice began to deteriorate rather rapidly. Perry's voice was good up until only the last couple of years. His "And I Love You So" which was gorgeous was recorded late in his life.
In my honest opinion, Perry was a MUCH better singer than Sinatra ever was. I honestly feel that Perry's voice was stronger and had a much wider range.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
You're right, Christopher. He wasn't as famous, because he stayed home with family instead of running around with a "Rat Pack." He only came to work when he had to rehearse or do the TV program. Family was more important than "fame." He had his heard and mind where they belonged. Bing Crosby said he was jealous of Perry's voice and wished he sounded that good. November 14, 2019
THE BEST BY FAR THAN ANY OF THE OTHER CROONERS!!!!
one of the best of all time
Far better than Sinatra, because he was a man with a moral compass, and his family was more important than crazy fame. He spend his time with his wife and children. One wife for all his life. 11/14/2019
You are so right. I think he is a better singer than Frank and almost the equal of Bing.
better than bing too more beautiful voice
@5brosn1chick He deserves all of our respect.
When Perry died, Paul Harvey lamented that there was not the big fuss made over his passing as was done for Frank Sinatra ("Chairman of the Board," etc.) and that it was so unjust because Perry was always a true gentleman; true to his wife, the only wife he had; and true to his principles, never compromising on his standards and values. There was never a hint of scandal about him.And a great talent besides all of that. None of the crooners ever sang better than he. His voice was pure velvet.
the best version of the song, i ever heard. a massive hit for him on release in 1945.
