I wouldn't call most songs on Control and Achille's heel stripped back. If Bazan had continued making music under the Pedro The Lion name, this would just have been normal progression.

Well technically they're really famous in their circle (i.e indie rock and slowcore). They've been around for a long time! If you haven't listened to their earlier stuff I really do recommend it! Also David Bazan's solo material (I guess Pedro the Lion is his solo material as well?) is awesome! And because it's Christmas I *have* to recommend David Bazan's Christmas album
