Peck, Danielle - She Just Likes To Cry Lyrics

Midnight, lay my head on my pillow
Listen to the screamin’, man he’s cussin’
Her like a dog
I live in 201, they’re in 202
I say a little prayer cause I’ve been there
And I stayed too long
I knocked on their door yesterday to see if everything was alright
He said everything’s just fine

[Chorus]
She just likes to cry
She likes to get her way
There’s no reason for you to pry
Everything’s okay
These walls are paper thin
So if you hear her again
You’ll know the reason why
She just likes to cry

Then today I was lookin’ out my window
Saw their little girl out on the playground
On the monkey bars
So I walked down and saw her bruises
That’s when he walked up, said girl shut up and
Get in the car
With tears rollin’ down her face she climbed up in that seat
And he turned and said to me

[Chorus]
She just likes to cry
She likes to get her way
I told the girl to stay inside
But she just had to play
She’s just like her mama
Causin’ drama
Now you know the reason why
She just likes to cry

I pulled in from work today
Police cars parked outside
I heard him tell the officers
As I walked by

[Chorus]
She just likes to cry
She likes to get her way
I promise you I wouldn’t lie
Everything’s okay
These walls are paper thin
So if someone calls again
You’ll know the reason why
She just likes to cry
She just likes to cry

So I turned around and put my head down
And cried

Ive been the abused woman, and witnessed abuse growing up. I barely survived but now if I witness or hear a woman getting beaten I WILL get involved esp if theres children. Ive called the police numerous times on neighbours where the female partner was getting beaten. This song hits close too close to home even yrs after leaving

@kaniese It get's the message out that Domestic and Child Abuse does go unreported too often. And also, sometimes there isn't a lot someone else can do unless they have proof, especially if the one being abused is too scared to admit whats happening.

its a beautiful and sad song but idont htink it sends a message or helps anyone...its about a guy abusing his significant other and the women singing who lives next door does nothign about it. just like my neighbors did nothing about it....stand up tothose who need to be put in there place!!!! dont just watch and stand around waiting, hoping somthing will happnen.....because usually its the worst thing possible. im just glad i got out when i did....

@kimmie5175 I do agree, I hadn't heard it either until a friend recommended it to me. It sends a good message, and honestly it makes me feel strong. Being abused by an ex, it just really hits home for me.
