Pearl Jam - Swallowed Whole Lyrics

I can feel the dawn, I can feel the earth
I can feel the living all around
I can choose a path, I can choose a word
I can start the healing, Bring it now

Whispered songs inside the wind
Breathing in forgiveness
Like vibrations with no end
Feel the planet humming
What is clear far from the noise, gets swallowed whole

I can feel the sun, I can see the sound
I can set myself right hear and drown
I can feel the rush, I could clear the clouds
I could set the needles spinning love
I can hear the crash, I can feel the pound
I can feel the current pulling down

Whispered songs inside the wind
Breathing in forgiveness
Like vibrations with no end
Feel the planet humming
What is clear far from the noise, gets swallowed whole

With no quiet to be found
spirit lifted off the ground
and what lies beyond the grave
might be welcomed change
And will come, come what may
with no rest in peace
Until that day

I could choose a path, I could choose the word
I could start the healing, bring it now
I could be the sun, I could be the sound
I could set myself right here and drown

Whispered songs inside the wind
Breathing in forgiveness
And the chapter I’ve not read
Turn the page

  3. C.... Y....

when I heard this song it immediately went into my top ten PJ tunes obvious REM and Who influence just amazing music by a band of 50 year olds

  9. M.... V....

I honestly believe this song was destined to be created. It feels so natural, with such a strong message attached. It started out for me as the least recognizable track from Lightning Bolt, but grew on me so well, it ending up being my standout track from the record. Also, I love how Eddie used the term "Swallowed Whole" multiple times in the past; "Circles they grow and they swallow people whole" as sung in Guaranteed from the Into the Wild score, and "Swallowed Whole, in negatives, it's so sad and sickening" coming from Unthought Known. It are the little things like these that put a smile on my face.

  15. C.... D....

Sounds like a R.E.M. song. (chorus and bridge) Great anyway :-)

  22. T.... H....

I find it insulting this song only has 50,000 views. Such a good song and album.

  23. j.... c....

no album they have ever made tops ten album

    j.... c....

that because that is the only album that you like. I have to disagree, they are legends with so many legend songs! but you are correct ten was a smashing album and from your proof it appealed to people who didn't even like the whole pearl jam package.

    j.... c....

For me "Vs." it's equal to Ten... then they started to get worse but still a good band

    j.... c....

ten is like... piece of art, it's my favorite album from them, but that's because they are very different and each one,and i find myself more apealed by that one, although other people can find other of their albuns better, but like i said each one is very unique

    j.... c....

    +jordan culbreth

    Well Vitology is my favorite

  24. o.... ....

I hear more of a The Who influence in this song over REM.

    o.... ....

    i hear rem more

  25. t.... b....

when i first heard this song i  didnt like it after 3rd listen i liked its a real good song its cool how it starts off acustic then picks a bit then towards the end picks up more then dies off slow r.em. influnced  reminds me binarual meets riot act meets self titled album like all those albums mixed into one then u get this

  26. P.... L....

I Remember some music from Led Zeppelin, the sound in the chorus really really sounds the same

    P.... L....

    can u remember the song?

  27. J.... B....

I agree Dean this is definitely a bad ass driving song, actually its awesome for anything :-)

  28. B.... W....

Being compared to R.E.M. has to be a good thing right? Surely. This is their best album since Riot Act for sure.

    B.... W....

id say best since yeild  riot act was ok, this album is good. but to be honest i think backspacer is  just as good as this almost

  29. P.... ....

a couple of critics said this sounds like REM, would you happen to agree?

  30. s.... ....

My favorite of this album... no doubt my favorite Pearl jam album in the last 10 years...

  31. d.... s....

Can't argue with you there. Now it's a three way tie for me......Immortality, Jeremy and this beauty.

  32. d.... s....

Go back to your dance music or hippity hop dipshit.

  33. d.... s....

Wow, use some spell check and Pearl Jam has never tried to appeal to anyone but Pearl Jam. They are true class.

  34. t.... b....

all there albums are good lol u think there trying to appeal to youngr audiance lol how so this albun isnt for youngns. id say ten was mean for younger people u obviously dont know pj or music

  35. D.... R....

This is definitely one of the standout songs for me. It conjures the mental image of a solo roadtrip, driving a convertible in the sunshine, on a voyage of self discovery. It just plain makes me feel good.

    Feel the planet humming.

  36. T.... B....

There is something to be said for understanding what tempo changes and changing moods do musically for furthering the story of the song......However, one of you show me the rules for good and bad music. There are none. It is a matter of personal taste and whether or not the music makes an emotional connection with you. Jim, though your comments were extremely humorous, please don't judge people for having different taste than your own. Individuality is what God intended when He created us.

  37. t.... ....

    Evil wrote this music!

  38. j.... b....

Judging by your picture there I would say your more of a Bon Jovi sort of a fellow
So you opinion means diddly squat now back to your white snake albums ya trumpet

  39. D.... ....

    Agreed.

  40. j.... c....

ten is the only good album p j ever made they were trying to appeal to younger listeners now they suck

  41. A.... ....

    lol. thats the best part!

  42. D.... C....

at 1: 45 is when the song took a bad turn...should have kept it going

  43. J.... R....

    Genius.

  44. A.... ....

    Thanks for uploading these!

  45. j.... ....

    ^ This,

  46. t.... q....

sounds like R.E.M around the Murmer album. Not a bad thing :)

  47. C.... L....

One of my absolute favourites off their new album

  48. m.... ....

imho this is the best song they have ever recorded.

  49. S.... ....

    awesome
