Pearl Jam - Gimme Some Truth Lyrics
I've had enough of reading things
From neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just give us some truth
I've had enough of watching scenes
All I want is the truth
Just give us some truth
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Tricky Dicky
Is gonna Mother-Hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for rope
Corporate hoes
I've had enough of reading things
All I want is the truth
Just give us some truth
I've had enough of hearing things
From schizophrenic [?] mama's little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just give us some truth
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Georgie Porgie
Is gonna Mother-Hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for rope
Money for rope
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Georgie Porgie
Is gonna Mother-Hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
It's money for rope
Oh, corporate hoes
I've had enough of reading things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama's little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
All I want is the truth
I've had enough of reading things
From pig-headed, tight-lipped politicians
All I want is the truth
Just give us some truth
All I want is the truth
Just give us some truth
All I want is the truth
Just give us some truth
Just give us some truth

Pearl Jam Gimme Some Truth Comments
We still love john lennon and the beatles
This was 2003 not 2009
Relevant to the day!
Diciembre 2018!❤️
No inner rebellion, no soul! Lennon was the best.
Made me giggle anyways ! I love pretence rock n roll it's so depressing to see this bloke reading the lyrics ..oh dear
lead guitar should hang but otherwise this is pretty good :)
Super cover
viva Lennon
I wish they would play this at grenfell towers
Don't forget Orange faced!!!
sorry I think this is a dreadful cover version.
I hope Eddie understands that Hillary is who this song should be against
donne moi la vérité ! les politiciens j en doute !!
le génie de john ! les politiciens ? confiance ? j en doute !🙄🙄🎸
belle version ! plus saturée ! john doit être aux anges ! 😉😉
i miss John Lennon so much!
nice tribute ...
Love how John Lennon's version he says "money for dope" and "pocket full of dope"
But Eddie changes it to "pocket full of oil" and "money for oil"
Fuck the government! Give us some truth!
Vous êtes les meilleurs pour chanter ça les gars, vous allez bien finir par rencontrer Vincent Tondo et la chanter avec lui, pour que les plus belles choses soient enfin les choses visibles !
If this was an Eddie Vedder original and Lennon did a cover, everyone's comments here would be the other way around. It's what you hear first that you get familiar with.
whoa that's out there man!
@alanwhit Eddie changed the words, he is saying money for oil so in fact it does translate to 2001
It IS a great cover, PJ were not trying to be John Lennon. It actually is better than Lennon. So there!
This is a John Lennon song. Love Pearl Jam too.
no, it isn't.
@Jose Sanchez since I don't mention anyone in particular, the response is to the main comment, from Adam Bright. It is not a great cover and not at all better than the original Lennon' version.
@Jose Sanchez Ok, I'll read the "how to answer comments the right way" in the YouTube rules book. I'm very concerned about not getting answers!

If you had grown up with John Lennon and heard his version of
the song enough times, you’d probably like his version better,
but who knows? Some cover versions are better than the originals.
I like David Bowie’s version of “Try Some Buy Some” much better
than George Harrison’s. You ought to check both versions out.
Harrison’s version does not really fit on that album that well.
Somewhere John Winston Lennon is turning over in his grave at these hacks that are barely above a bar band attempting to cover his song.
+vedderclone Internet tough guy. I will fight you, and I am an one-armed 68 year old man who is blind in my middle eye.
ok gimme your address fuckface, i have no use of my left side and wear an eyepath on both eyes just to feel as cool as muppets liike you
You want an address to get your face fucked? Do you like it through your eye socket or your left nostril? No wonder you cannot write in English. Your brain has been poked too many times with big boners through the nasal cavity. It is not the only cavity of your body that has been intimate with big boners.
Project much?
lol dipshit
I like the cover: the guitar solo sucks hugely though... Playing by numbers
@Fred Collier yeah dont fit with the meaning of the song even its in slow tempo
I thought it was great
@savillerow2
Pearl Jam have changed a lot through the years. Can't agree with you mate.
Very good cover :-)
Good cover!!
WM3 FREE
still amazing
AMEN! XD
THIS IS AMAZING XD
would have been better had they played the right chords!
John we miss..I just listened to Lennon's original version. And here comes Eddie......not just decent...............
<---------me front row at ed's show 11/30/12
Pearl Jam is great band, and i agree. Lennons version is best ive ever heard. And i heard many cover of Gimme some truth.
Individual point of view. Evidently misunderstanding. I like Eddie Vedders songs from Into the Wild. But everythings got same arrangement, same key. See no change. So its the only album i bought from him. Like a school boy i was very shocked by Beatles. They changed during their careers. Evolved to be not same.
well this statement tells me all I need to know about you. So... you chase bands with hits... That's called top 40 bro... worst kind of music appreciation.
Splendida versione dei Pearl Jam. Pelle d'oca ;)
HOLLY SHIT JOHN LENNON PAPI
0:50 Gossard :D
Not the biggest fan of this cover. It doesn't have the same kind of snarl as Lennon's. However, Pearl Jam is a great band.
John Lenno was trully genius. I dont like Pearl Jam too much because all of their hits could be on two disc only. But, i didnt wrote any song by my self so their are much further than me. Well played song really - guitar solo was terrific.
WM3 IS FREE!
people nowdays are too chicken shit to do anything except for their bank accounts, actually do aomething for anyody or anything else even if that means their own life being at risk and their freedom but until its fucking obvious in their face that their are loosing it all they wont fucking move- guess what its too late fucker
AWESOME COVER TO A GREAT SONG...AND FUCK U PEARL JAM HATERS....
@renegaderadiofm...say...I got a novel idea...go fuck yourself, you fucking fuck.
@makwabid69 His goal was not to outdo Lennon,he liked the song and wanted to sing it.I'll never understand why fucks like u are so turned off by artists doing covers.I can go see a shitty garage band and if they play a beatles song I'd be happy to hear it,who cares if they dont do it as good as the original? If you hate Vedder so much, don't watch this, there's tons of Lennon videos on here you can watch, stop bitching and go watch the original if that's what you want, prick.
Lukewarm cover.. This is proof that, in the current global situation, we do not want the truth (sadly) ..
John Lennon – a true legend of music and one of the greatest artists and activists.
Don't really like this version but still loads of respect for Eddie!
@SantyGnr21 No it's not!! It's actually the 8th song on the DVD. Do some fucking research before you put up this video for the general public.
they're such a great live band
Money for DOPE, Eddie...sorry, but you can't carry John's jock, let alone o his song any justice.
the message of this song written about 35 years ago is still good nowadays and will remain until the system changes
Wonderful,Thanks a lot for sharing
@zappahart i think he's trying to be angry ,,but its something that ya cant fake ..Lennon was still in that angry/self centered fuck youse all mood and no-one could do it better he was one of the great voices of rock music.
I love pearl jam and i like this version but eddie vedder cops out. Lennon sang 'its money for rope, its money for dope' .... Vedder mumbles his way through the line. In 1971 Lennon was commenting that the US government sold the public a crock of shit in the Vietnam War and correctly aluded to the fact that the CIA used drugs as currency to finance its secret wars. Vedder pays homage to Lennon in New York but the song doesn't translate to 2001. Lennon was a classic ... eddie a mere shadow
it is a song which makes me believe that my way of life is worth following. leading the truth is a very very hard aim but at the end we will proud of that. lennon & pj would be the greatest 'band' together ever with their attitude to life and being honest in every part of everyday life. i love them. they are making me feel HUMAN. greeting from poland :)
@PJ92SOLAT I agree. I like this way better than the original. Dare I speak blasphemy, but I think of Lennon primarily as a song writer (rather than a performer), anyway.
Best cover of that song ever !!! I'm sorry for the Beatles fans but...
Eddie Vedder > John Lennon
Philippe Laboissonnière Hahahahahaha
this is '03, not '09
