Pavement - You Are A Light Lyrics

Tangled in the midst of all the trust
The way you pissed inside the brain file
Technology drives
Show me your dots now

Who was it that said the world
Was mainly all divorces and spare change?
Let's lethalize our slingshots
And swallow propane

You are a light
The calm in the day
You are a light
The calm in the day

Senior year abroad
I ripped the pea out of the pod
In store for three months of exile in Spain
Where was the danger?

Watch out for the gypsy children in the electric dresses
They're insane
I hear they live in crematoriums
And smoke your remains

You are a light
The calm in the day
You are a light
The calm in the day

My drive stick, gotta love it, automatic
Oh, everybody's gotta ride in something
High life, lived, comatoased him, bring it on in
Oh, I hope it arrives by Monday

Dry ice, skid, button your slips and porridge and nippers
I have to die on Sunday
Irate kid, laundromat spinners, and let's act like winners
And oh, gotta roam 'cause I am the isolator

Gotta roam 'cause I am the isolator

One of their best songs in an already impressive discography.

its easy to judge a decade by its music but unfair. when you lump all this great music from the same era together it does seem like it would have been awesome. but trust me, it wasn't all that.i was there. and aside from the music, there wasn't that much to be stoked about. for me it was the end of music feeling personal. you could discover a band the old fashioned way. and it felt special when it could still feel exclusive and not exploited. i mean woodstock? record companies trying to find the next nirvana. dial up internet. shitty weed (but good acid!). baggy pants and small wheels. gas was cheaper. there were less cameras. i graduated in 95. and it was poserville. i was at charlestown racetrack when pavement got booed off stage. my favorite band. and that pretty much sums up the attitude of the idiots where i grew up. and it hasn't changed.
and we are still paying for all the shitty music spawned from that long ten years.
there is still good music being made. and if you are too lazy to find it? then start making it!

    J.... M....

Lol dude I live near the race track. Unfortunately not a lot of people are familiar with the sound but I'm trying my best to make people hear

    J.... M....

Jeremi McDonald you are on meth

    J.... M....

.....yeah modern music died with buckley IMO(born in 92) which is why i flock to modern producers these days djs of both hip hop and techno(not edm fuck that shit) been getting into classic japanese fusion jazz too lately shits really upbeat and a nice change of scenery

    J.... M....

Ayy im in charles town too

    J.... M....

Are u still in c town hmu if u wanna skate it flipped around now we have good weed and bad acid

  13. A.... ....

I want to go back to the 90s, and live there forever :/

  14. C.... S....

"Let's lethalize our slingshots and swallow propane" :)
But does anybody knows what "lethalize" means ? (or is it another word that he says...?)

    C.... S....

@Candy Stroy Well I thought it would mean 'make deadly'.

    C.... S....

@qwertyronson Oh yeah right now i understand, so he took "lethal" and maked it a verb :) Thanks!

    C.... S....

    Made*
Your English is very good, though, keep at it.

    C.... S....

@Ghost Spacebar oh yeah that was some horrible mistake, thanks

  15. A.... B....

Totally agree with sirray51. The intro sounds almost exactly the same.

  16. g.... ....

    Beautiful beyond words.

  17. C.... M....

    My favorite pavement song.

  18. M.... ....

    Miss the 90s.

  19. M.... H....

Watch out for the gypsy children in electric dresses they're insane.

  20. b.... ....

this should be 45 mil views not thousand

  21. B.... C....

    i miss 90s rock

  22. P.... G....

This song send me a other days, past moments, when i was a youth men and hate everything.

    P.... G....

    Fuck yeah, Pedro!

  23. D.... M....

pavements best album, makes me wonder how epic, not that the other's weren't, their other works could have been if Godrich would have produced them all. Brighten the Corners and Terror Twilight were their most 'coherent' or 'complete' albums, not to say transition or context was particularly devoid of their previous works, just it seems obvious that they really came into their own, musically, instrumentally, productively on the later ones....

  24. r.... ....

My stoner Music Production teacher had me check out this band. I regret nothing. This is amazing.

  25. J.... H....

gotta roll cause i am the isolator

  26. t.... ....

a laid back, easy goin' pavement

  27. m.... ....

Yeah, the only reason I knew was because of TAMTW by Radiohead. Someone from a Radiohead forum was talking about it.

  28. m.... ....

A lot of bands use that sound. It's the sound of the recording tapes starting up. But yes, it is the exact same sound.

  29. R.... A....

A lyrical magic-carpet ride of a song! The highlight of working the twilight shift at ASDA in '99/2000, was me bringing this album in and turning the cd player on, on the home and leisure aisle, and cranking it up!

  30. A.... S....

I love this record. It just captures everything that was Pavement in such a well-produced way.

  31. A.... A....

HAHAHA watch out for the gipsy children in electric dresses their INSANE!!!

    A.... A....

    They're*

    A.... A....

Just trying to help you with your there, their and they're usage!

  32. c.... ....

I don't know. Between Gold Soundz, In the Mouth of the Desert, Shady Lane, AT&T, Range Life, Summer Babe, Zurich Is Stained, Pueblo, Texas Never Whispers, and others...there's something infinitely redeeming about this song. Something amazingly vulnerable, like some testament to the obvious fragility in all our lives. It's about not knowing--and knowing. Everybody's got to ride in something.

  33. K.... C....

    @LondonSessions Words to live by.

  34. k.... ....

    Ivy Mokhov sent me here.

  35. d.... ....

this song is so clever.i love all the hints to the big riff which are hidden in the subtle 1st part and how it all ties up at the end turning out all massive yet remaining understated and natural somehow..mester Malkmus is just a natural..
    just pressing play again

  36. T.... ....

This song reminds me of hank hill because of "Propane"

  37. z.... ....

    total prophecy.

  38. H.... ....

Let's pasteurize the milk duds and snort some cocaine.

  39. L.... ....

Let's lethalize our slingshots and swallow propane.

  40. T.... ....

    great song by Pavement!
