Pavement - Starlings Of The Slipstream Lyrics
I heard what you said
The leaders are dead
They're robbing the skies
I can hear their followers cry
Starlings in the slipstream
Starlings in the slipstream
Starlings in the slipstream
The language of influence
Is cluttered with hard hard C's
And I put a spy-cam
In a sorority
Darlings on the split-screen
Darlings on the split-screen
Darlings on the split-screen
There's no women in Alaska
There's no Creoles in Vermont
There's no coast of Nebraska
My mother, I forgot
Slavic princess with a rose in her teeth, do you suppose she would bite you if she could?
Call a jittney, drive away, in the slipstream we will stay
Stay away, away, away, away, away, away, away, away

Pavement Starlings Of The Slipstream Comments
The end guitar sounds so much like early Modest Mouse.
Subtle Realms I can hear that too, good call!
there aint a bad song
I love how fans always compare pavement albums.. you know what the best one is.?
All 5..done
awoooooooooo
stalin's in the slipstream
This is so off😂 Seems like it doesn’t even come from this world... I love it
Pavement and Sebadoh will and always be one of the best bands of all time...
One if the bands I really wish I could have seen in concert. Born too late for that.
I saw stephen malkmus and the jicks last year and he played like 6 pavement songs
it stills blows my mind pavement is so good i could
Always enjoy lyrics of a Pavement song.

yes thats what he said
My favorite Sloshy song.
holy shit that ending
If you mean the ending beginning at 1:31 and ending at 2:03 then I agree
if its in the middle, its not the ending ya dingus
the ending sounds like a whale screaming in agony but i like it
i came for that
That's Modest Mouse's signature sound
probably the most hilarious pavement lyric - "i put a spycam, in a sorority ... ya oooooooo, darlings on the splitscreen"
The dawn if the internet spy cam era.. oh the late 90s
Claudius Ptolemy Straight out of the movie Revenge of the Nerds, lol.
Only Stephen malkmus could make those lines work
Markthalle 05.04.97 Hamburg: Best concert ever!!! Thank you Pavement! Hope you find together again and see you on tour!!!!

In reply to Matthew Walker, I know what you mean. I heard Slanted and Enchanted, their first full record, in 1993. I loved it so much that I had no interest in their second one, Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. I knew it coudn't touch S&E. Well. someone gave me a tape like 9 months after it came out and I was ultimately blown away. And Malkmus hasn't let me down with any other releases, now totalling 11 full-lenth. And I get every one of those on the day they come out, if not earlier.
Statistically speaking, Brighten the Corners might be their best record but Crooked Rain will always be my favorite.
Terror Twilight is the least respected but it is as good as anything else, just subtler and it needs time to grow on you.
i always thought (conversations i was in tune with; reading etcetera) that brighten the corners was their least "respected/valued" album {?} (genius: love it) slanted is alone & void of other pavement records because there's nothing else like it in their catalog. that album can't/will never die ...pavement will always be in musics lexicon ...it's shit you can't hide
+giraffesinspandex Brighten is just brilliant but underrated right? Wowee Zowee is my favorite.
I loved Terror Twilight, I only wish it was longer
I know I'm 3 years late but in my defense I started listening to pavement 6 months ago. But he has never and most likely won't ever let us down
chrisocony every album is great they’re kind of equal in their own separate ways imo.
dude if this album was a sellout, it was sold out at the $.99 store. i know they didnt make shit from it
Don't worry - you won't.
really? it's the first pavement album i've listened to and i've been so happy with it that i don't want to delve into pavement much further because i'm scared i'll just be disappointed.
haha you definately won't be
Well, you're in for a surprise.
listen to every pavement song and i'll give you $10 if one of them disappoints you.
@lily bacon I am a massive Pavement fan but Terror Twilight is terrible
Crooked Rian Crooked Rain! Trust us....
I concur; I used to "dislike" it, comparatively, but one day it just clicked. But you give no love to Terror Twilight!
The only CD I bought EVER without knowing anything about the band. I do not have any idea why to this day. My daughter when she was 14 went with me to she them at the Tabernacle in Atlanta a few years ago. They are my fa
i bought giant steps by the boo radleys just because of their name and that was a very good decision
Brighten The Corners never gets any love. Severely underrated and overshadowed by S&E, Wowee Zowee, and Crooked Rain. All four are awesome though.
A lot of people think this was a sell-out album because there was a song played on the radio from it. I always thought there were crazy this is some of pavements best. The whole ccd is great but the last half is fucking brilliant!!!!!!!
Malkmusian gibberish
PAVEMENT !!!!!!
TheDirtyDirty420 ya
Aaa-oooooooooooooooooooooo
This song is almost right up there with Greenlander to me. It just doesn't get anymore perfect to my ears and soul than this!
"There's no coast of Nebraska." Well except for those giant man-made lakes.
i started listening to this album around the same time i started reading Fruits Basket, so now i can't listen to this album without wanting to read Fruits Basket and i can't read Fruits Basket without wanting to listen to Brighten The Corners. What a strange combination.
Such an underrated pavement song
0 dislikes. That's sayin' smething.
well...what to say...pavement rules!
@JackFetter11 seriously feel you there bro, i saw them play it at virgin fest, it was life changing
I have to buy this record.
