Paul Simon - Night Game Lyrics
There were two men down
And the score tied
In the bottom of the eighth
When the pitcher died
On the pitcher's mound
And his uniform was torn
And his number was left on the ground
Then the night turned cold
Colder than the moon
The stars were white as bones
The stadium was old
Older than the screams
Older than the teams
There were three men down
And the season lost
And the tarpaulin was rolled
Upon the winter frost

Paul Simon Night Game Comments
Such interesting harmonic choices. Always loved this song and wore out this album in my 65 Chevy tape deck back in the day.

Jake Lichter the new generation doesn’t know about this genius :(
Nemo I’m 17 and I love Paul Simon and Van Morrison and all those types of musicians
The chord progression is a thing of beauty, the melody over it just shows Simon's harmonic genius
Beautiful chord progressions are out of fashion now. People don't get why I say that all modern music sounds bland, but it's because of their limited chord repertoires.
One of Simon's most endearing songs, I think.
What a sad but beautiful song. Made more sad with the recent passing of Toots Thelemans.
thanks for posting
Good night, Baron Thielemans. Rest well.
Nobody could play like him. RIP😢
RIP, Toots Thielemans.
