Paul Revere & The Raiders - New Orleans Lyrics
I said a hey hey hey yeah
I said a hey hey hey yeah
C'mon everybody take a trip with me
Way down to Mississippi down to New Orleans
Where the honeysuckle's bloomin' on the honeysuckle vine
Is a Mississippi Queen down the Mississippi down in New Orleans oww
I said a hey hey hey yeah
I said a hey hey hey yeah
Well c'mon take a stroll down on Basin street
An' listen to the music with the Dixieland beat
Where the magnolia blossoms they fill the air
And if you ain't been to heaven then you ain't been there
You got french moss hanging from a big oak tree
Down the Mississippi down to New Orleans
I said a hey hey hey yeah I said a look out child yeah yeah yeah
Way down to Mississippi down to New Orleans
Where the honeysuckle's bloomin' on the honeysuckle vine
And love is bloomin' there all the time every southern belle
Is a Mississippi Queen down the Mississippi down in New Orleans oww
I said a hey hey hey yeah I said a look out child yeah yeah yeah
C'mon everybody take a trip with me

Paul Revere & The Raiders New Orleans Comments
Mark Lindsay is pro!
懐かしい😁
Happy Birthday, Paul! : )
Iggy and the Stooges do a great rework of this song retitled "Heavy Liquid " !
I don't upload whole albums, I've had enough copyright hassles from YT.
This Song was played in The Second Film of The Blues Brothers
The best version of this song! The ending rocks!! Heavy drums the best!
A rare lead vocal turn from Paul - who makes no claims about being a good singer, but I think he does just fine here.
This was my favorite version until I heard Willy DeVille's version.
This is the best cover of "New Orleans". I'm not just saying that, because I'm a big Paul Revere & The Raiders fan. I'm saying it, because The Raiders are talented. Paul Revere does a great job on vocals, assuming it is Paul singing.
THIS SONG ROCKS!!!
@Deltoid71 Oh, no problem. There were a lot of songs about New Orleans made over the years. Believe it or not, I actually like "Battle Of New Orleans" done by Johnny Horton. I'm not much into country music, but that was kind of a cool song. Came out circa 1958 (before I was born).
PEACE!!!
So, for those of you who think I'm spreading rumors, I'm not. This is the real deal. Both channels are great. So, check it out, people!!
@1962drob Actually, I was wrong.....I just listened to Freddy Cannon do "Way Down Yonder in New Orleans".....completely different song than this one.
Yes, I did another plug. I want everyone to know that both your channels rock.
@Deltoid71 By the way, Paul Revere & The Raiders do a real cool version of "Satisfaction" which is on this same album. As you know, it was The Rolling Stones' biggest hit ever!!
For more Raiders music, check out my friends channel, bze2nlz4. My friend has great Raiders music and good stuff from the '60's and '70's. And, check out her other channel, bze2nlz1. Lots of good stuff from that same era and great music from the Chicago Area.
@Deltoid71 You could be right. I thought Gary US Bonds did the original, but I could be wrong. The "Just Like Us" album came out in 1966, I was probably 3 or 4 yrs old at that time, and the Gary US Bonds version came out probably before I was even born. A lot of groups copied each other in those days, so it was not uncommon to see groups like Paul Revere & The Raiders do cover songs back then.
@1962drob .......Not sure who did the original.....I was thinking it was Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon
By the way, for those of you visiting this video sight for the first time, listen up!! This channel (bze2nlz4) has a lot of great songs and videos from Paul Revere & The Raiders. Also The Guess Who, Grass Roots, and many other groups from the '60's and '70's. Check it Out!!
Also, check out her other channel, bze2nlz1, for more groups from that era, such as Three Dog Night, Chicago, and some great bands from the Chicago Area. Tell 'em Dean sent ya.
This is definately a great song. I was about to ask who sings lead on this, but rslitman answered that (read his comment). But, one thing I noticed. Someone hit the "Dislike" button. What's up with that? I say, we pass around a petition to get YouTube to take the "Dislike" button away. Anyone who agrees, please let me know.
This is one of the few Mark Lindsay-era Raiders recordings on which Paul himself sings lead. The only other one I can think of now (possibly the only other one, period) is "Ain't Nobody Who Can Do It Like Lesley [or Leslie] Can".
I said "Hey hey hey Yeah "...great song,, and post Chris.... love it..xx
WOW!! I've actually heard this song before. This was originally done by Gary US Bonds around 1961 or 1962 (not sure exactly). Great cover song that Paul Revere & The Raiders did on this album. Thanks Chris for posting this :)
