Paul McCartney - Stranglehold Lyrics

Can I Get You To Give Me A Minute Of Your Time?
Can I Get You To Slip Me The Answer?
Can I Get You To Slow Me A Little Of Your Mime?
You Were Always A Very Good Dancer
I'd Be Happy To Show You A Bit Of What I Found
I'd Be Happy To Share In Its Beauty
I'd Be Happy To Lay Low Inevitably Bound
I Would Only Be Doing My Duty.
I Wait, I Wait, I Can Wait, I Can Wait Back In The Bar
I Can Wait, I Can Wait , I Can Wait Back In The Car
I'll Be Waiting For You
Stranglehold, You Know You've Got On Me
I Don't Want To Go Without You.
Stranglehold, You've Got Me Where You Want Me
But I Want To Know More About You I Want To Know More
About You.
Are You Willing To Wager A Little Of Your Life?
Are You Willing To Take Such A Gamble?
Are You Ready To Walk On The Edge Of The Knife?
Then I Think We Can Skip The Preamble.
I Wait, I Wait, I Can Wait. I Can't Wait Back In The Bar,
I Can Wait, I Can Wait, I Can Wait Back In The Car
I'll Be Waiting For You. I'll Be Waiting...
Stranglehold, You Know, You've Got On Me
I Don't Want To Go Without You
Stranglehold, You've Got Me Where You Want Me
And I Want To Know More About You I Want To Know More
About You.
I Can Wait, I Can Wait Back In The Bar I Can Wait, I Can Wait
I Can Wait Back In The Car I'll Be Waiting For You.

    Great song,album,artist and decade.

  2. T.... ....

    amazing track, amazing album.

  3. J.... T....

Like the gritty bass line, and Paul's vocals, but could do without the cheesy horns, which seem to take the bite out of the song.

    Oklahoma was never like this.

I loved Press To Play when it came out - this track is superb!

  6. R.... B....

one of his absolute best opening tracks from one of his absolute best albums.

  7. A.... A....

Didn't Ted Nugent play this song on his first smash hit album?

😂😂😂 Good one-- but not quite. But Sweaty Teddy, the Motor City Madman's did better than Sir Paul's -- A pretty rare occurrence, given each one's legacy in this biz.

Agree. Fabulous track. Put it on to the 'White Album' it would be regarded as all-time rock-jazz classic, and the lyrics show how strong he is in that dept too: I''d Be Happy To Lay Low Inevitably Bound ". Best popular musician ever to have walked the earth.

  9. W.... M....

Easily Paul's most undervalued album, filled with great tracks.

Been Looking for this song since, It's release (1988-89?)
I 've probably described it to about 8 people. Here it lies, Wow.
    Excellent song, Humanizes him.
    Paul McCartney, A great gentleman.

album cover looks like john lennons double fantasy cover...same concept and both black and white...press to play is unlistenable...one of his worst albums ever...my faves of his are:

    1- flaming pie
    2- band on the run
    3- venus and mars
    4- ram
5- wings at the speed of sound (didnt like it when released BUT the sound on the remaster is amazing...maybe the best remastered cd i have ever heard)
6- wings over america...disc one is one of my favorite live albumsr...even though loads of overdubs

@Dean Martin Yes, this, "Stranglehold", is the only decent song on the record.  It sounds a LOT like the mid-period output of the band XTC (a fave of mine) which isn't at all surprising, given that XTC often wore its Beatles influences on its sleeves AND they worked with Hugh Padgham for a few years, and he produced this McCartney album.  Sadly, it didn't work that well.

I have a soft spot for Tug of War. Paul's music is great because his back catalog is so deep and musically varied that nobody can agree on anything. One person loves Ram, somebody else hates it. One person loves Wildlife, the next person thinks it's garbage. One person thinks McCartney 2 is pure genius, the other thinks it's totally self-indulgent crap, etc, etc.

"album cover looks like john lennons double fantasy cover...same concept and both black and white..."

Both album covers have the former Beatles posing with their wives and are black and white but that is where the similarity ends. I've studied the two photos and the images are starkly different IMO. With John and Yoko's photo
the image at first looks like a beautiful romantic kiss shared between two lovers, but on closer inspection it is anything but. IMO, it shows the most attractive picture of Yoko with John I've ever seen. Her skin looks like it glows, with her eyes and lips closed as she gives John a fake kiss. Windblown or fan tossed hair, John looks gaunt as he receives Yoko's passionless "kiss" with artificial desire, his eyes closed, lips tightly closed and barely touches or lines up with hers (which is very telling IMO). It may not be as cringe worthy but it certainly is as awkward as the Michael Jackson/Lisa Marie Presley husband and wife "kiss".

Contrast John and Yoko's pose with Paul and Linda's. Their pose is also contrived, a little too obvious "old Hollywood glamour", Harlequin romance lovers, minus the windblown hair, they both look gorgeous with Linda luminous, her lips slightly parted, one visible eye half open looks beyond Paul nose with her head cocked upward as if to receive Paul's kiss. Handsome Paul looking as beautiful as Linda with his downward cast eyes, lashes as thick and long as hers, carefully groomed hair, cheek to cheek close, moments before he turns downward to meet his wife's lips.

Only Love Remains is a great song. And I also like Move Over Busker. It´s defenitely not so bad.
