Paul Kelly - From St Kilda To Kings Cross Lyrics
From St Kilda to Kings Cross is thirteen hours on a bus
I pressed my face against the glass and watched the white lines rushing past
And all around me felt like all inside me
And my body left me and my soul went running
I came in on the evening bus, from Oxford Street I cut across
And if the rain don't fall too hard everything shines just like a postcard
Everything goes on just the same
Fair-weather friends are the hungriest friends
I keep my mouth well shut, I cross their open hands
I want to see the sun go down from St Kilda Esplanade
Where the beach needs reconstruction, where the palm trees have it hard
I'd give you all of Sydney harbour (all that land, all that water)
For that one sweet promenade

Paul Kelly From St Kilda To Kings Cross Comments
Last train out of is it gone yet?
Earle... I love you
I TRAVELLED FROM THERE TO THERE; JUST FOR THE EXERCISE; THEN IT RAINED; I COULD HEAR THE RAIN FROM MY HOTEL WINDOW; IT INSPIRED ME NOT TO EXERCISE....
Our st.kilda port Macquarie
meh..you can keep St-Kilda despite the Esplanade & it's charms... Give me Sydney Anyday!! and that's from an ex-pat Melbournian!!
Sydney has all the things you can't afford. I've grown up in it, seen the best of it and these days I'm stuck on it's fringes. I loved Melbs in the nineties, and even though that Melbourne doesn't exist anymore, the city by the Yarra still shits all over the emerald city and all it's vacuous airheaded tat. If you think Sydney is good, try and get from Strathfield to Maroubra in peak hour and come and tell me what a great place Sydney is.
@Phil Doyle Used to think Sydney was the best city in the world in the 70's. It might have been.
Loved my little house on Narrabeen Lake and had a great business on Bondi beach. I would take my girl down to Doyles and buy a whole lobster mornay for $6.50 lol. Now around $150. Best thing i ever did
was sell up and move north. Sydney has lost the plot. Cold fractured . No heart.Impossible to get around.
Melbourne and Brisbane leave Sydney for dead as far as livability goes. Love them both for different reasons.
isnt it weird that this videos was copyright claimed
this is very good :D

@Euan Maclean THANKS EWEN :P
One of the great Paul Kelly songs and a song that typifies a true Aussie unique sound, kind of like an Aussie Dylan. Which is a huge compliment .
Ashamed i only heard of him through underbelly through Kaseys song. Superb man, dumb things just so good i play it on loop. God Bless Larrikins.
Dylan is sort of an American Kelly.
Saw the sunset in st Kilda yesterday. It was so great!
