Paul Carrack - How Long Lyrics
Well, your friends and their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme
And I can't help but have my suspicions, baby
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem
To break up our scene in this way
For there ain't any use pretending, babe
It could happen to us any day
How long has this been going on?
How long has this been going on?
Well, your friends and their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme
I can't help but have my suspicions
Well, you said you never intended
To break up our scene in this way
But there ain't any use in pretending
It could happen to us any day
How long has this been going on?
How long has this been going on?
Yeah, yeah
Oh, ohh
Tell me baby
Whoa
Oh, and your friends with their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme
Can't help but have my suspicions, baby
Ain't quite as dumb as I seem
Oh, you said you never intended
To break up our scene in this way
Ain't any use in pretending
It could happen to us any day
How long has this been going on?
How long has this been going on?
Tell me baby (How long)
How long (Going on)
Going on, going on
(How long) How long has this been going on?
Going on baby, how long?

Estas canciones me llegan al alma y recuerdo mi juventud
This a great song done by a great band....excellent....well done.....
Great song. Music selections are great Glenn.👍
Paul looks like the love child of Ray Charles and Billy Joel (and got the talent genes too)
I loved this song the first time I heard it. This is the best rendition I have had the pleasure to experience. Thank you Mr. Carrack for continuing to display your enormous talent.
Awesome but too bad that the sax drones over the background vocals 4:00 Love the pipes on Blondie!
been listening since 1974 he is 'The man with the Golden voice"
I like it 42 years. Im 48 years old. Eric
Beautiful song!!!!
It's been 35 years it's been going on
Amazing vocals!
Somethings just get better with age.🎤👍❤😎💃❤❤❤❤🎼👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎
👍❤❤❤❤❤Love his voice. A amazing talented artist.❤❤❤🎤
Wow 🤩 that’s good musicality my friends
Brilliant this is music no miming dancing like idiots..👍🏴👍🏴
Absolutely Carracking version of this classic song.
You don't have to be a Paul Carrack fan to appreciate this performance. Those who thumbed down don't know music, I feel sorry for them.
Yeah, yeah, sooo great.
Nothing like these music exists anymore.
So great to come across this. ThanQ
Always liked this song, Ace were fantastic and Paul has one of the best voices in the music world. I do love the 70's and 80s music.
Thanks Love. Those people ARE stupid
Bloody brilliant. Well done Paul.. undoubtedly one of the best top ten to come out of 70s
Most do not realize what this song is really about. Way back when his drummer was being recruited by another band and the drummer was thinking about leaving. Nothing to do with lovers.
Brilliant he is amazing so is his band he gets better with time just like wine love him to bits I’d love to see him live one day god bless you Paul larrysullivan in London x
Shades of Boz Skaggs in his delivery. Can't go wrong there.
ACED IT! No Pun intended.
Grade musicista
LOL, all these years I thought the song was written by Hall & Oates
One of the best singers, this is what it sounds like.Even in his older years he's still a force in music with his style.
You are tone deaf if you can't hear the quality in this recording and his voice.
The tin smith called and said your ear was ready if you didn't like this.
Love the Reggae breakdown he's added to this, gives the song a nice extension and lets it breathe. Superb work mr Carrack!
His voice has aged wonderfully
The Drummer CRUSHED IT. So Tight and Crisp. So glad someone recorded this....
Now THIS is big-time music.....
I never understood the two snare drums.. how much trouble is it, to just put the snare off if just gonna play a "Jamaican rhythm"? Great version though.
Lotta Soul in Paul’s voice. Wonderful
He is just so good.
My all time favorite rock tune ... thank you Mister C. Ace indeed for How Long now ??? 👍😎
Writing as someone who remembers the original (45 years ago) like it was yesterday, this is the version for the new century!!!!
Great voice great song.
One of my Favourite Songs..
You sound great 😁
What a man! xx
I really like this performance by Paul ,and the nice blond babe is a major plus.
Very nice blonde babe is a very major plus.
Just noticed everyone in the back, behind the board, just mesmerized.
I need to say this:
1. Just met the face behind this wonderful song. I'd always have sworn he was all black and this was motown.
2. Born 89, having grown to my father's Simply Red discography, this was a s*** ton of inspiration for Sunrise. Good me.
3. I just dreamed of this song last night, came to find it. Screw YT algo. YT is algorythmed by this song's groove.
Watch this song grow back to hit this 2020.
Fantastic!!!
#PaulCarrack is the white Ray Charles.
Por suerte tengo ésta música, que es bastante y no tengo que escuchar la mediocre música latina..
Real people, real music, real TALENT!!! Totally unlike the garbage that is called music today!
Wow, sounds so good. Better than the original.
Man … wake up please : this the original !
@Yves DE VRIENDT you wake up. I know Paul Carrack was the original. I'm saying this version is better than the one he made in the 70s.
Class act
Would love to see him do this "Live At Daryl's House".
DesertDigger1 yes I would like to see Paul with Darryls band .
OMG, GREAT IDEA!!!
First thing i thought of when i started listening!
If Phil Collins and Stevie Wonder had a baby....
One of the all time great tracks, still got a brilliant voice
How long did you assume this song is about a woman? It's not.
This is a “ Masterpiece” !!
This is such a great song. I also love “in the living years” which he did with Mike and the Mechanics.
Silent Running is also awesome.
That drum intro though👌👍❤
Paul Carrack is one of the greatest and most underrated singers this country has produced.
Paul just fantastic
Ooh, I wanted him to hit that high note so bad. Still sounds good. Looks great!
Tight band
One of my favorite vocalists of all time........
Vocal GOLD! Great musicians. Timeless song.....
This song....has been an all time favorite of mine. That groove, cannot be denied. Great for just listening and tapping your feet, or for dancing and having a great time...This is a first class performance...no matter who can't appreciate it!!!
The production on this is quite amazing.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great singer and a great guy. Love you Paul. 👌👍✌💖💖💖
He sound good ?!!!
Paul wrote this song and a wonderful song it is
This song is so good that I didnt even click off of it in spite of having to first watch the disgusting anti american human disgrace Michelle Obamas book ad.
I played 5 a side football with this lot....
Grant Mitchell on drums
who's the drummer? Brilliant!
Paul Carrack has such a beautiful voice and is one of the most underrated musicians of his era. Who else agrees with me?
I can believe that Justin Beibers new song yummy has over 70 mil views but gosh it’s absolute garbage. You can’t beat the old classics.
Logical Network Howe to auhowiongastjoisneemyjoodnrrmhoin
In the living years
Fuck you Underrated my ass
I saw him live last year on the festival, blues Peer. I do agree, lovely voice.
To get older & still be able to perform it healthy man
Outstanding!
I love it when bands take such care especially with the vocals. This is just a fabulous version of the song and the vocals are superb. This is what Top Shelf sounds like.
A stunning performance by Mr Carrack...If I could sing I would love to sound like this man...what feeling.
U thumb downers BLOW. 👊
I want dance this song other good style thanks Paul and their band
What a voice !!!
Great song, great vocals, everything.
Alright, am I the only person who is wondering who the blonde backup singer is?
Yeah, I know, I'm male. But a pretty blonde in heels is gonna stand out in a room full of black-clad middle aged session musicians... I tried looking up Paul Carrack's backup band to see if he had a steady crew he worked with, but no luck.
And it isn't as if I didn't notice the great skill of everyone in that room. My mom raised an audiophile who really does appreciate the unknown guys in a band. There's a whole lot of genius and virtuoso performing that goes on 'twenty feet from famous'.
Carl Hicks Jr her name is Lindsay Dracass
@dirigoelectric Ah. Mystery solved. Thanks.
Thanks "Paul Carrack" for this Opus How Long at London Studios London ✿ܓ
🙋🎼💜🎸🎷 🎻🎹🎺🌺🎧🎼
Stellar performance
los hombres de negro.vendidos a la humniadada!!!
How many good memories ..... Good to have the privilege of having lived it. Big hug from Brazil
A big tune back in the 70s. Love the bass line!
