Pat Benatar is my favorite singer. This song is the one I prefer on all her other beautiful songs! Pat has been in my heart since the age of 13, she rocked my adolescence and now 37 years later she did not leave me!! ;-) Too bad I'm French, I never had this chance and opportunity to see her in concert. Does she still have gigs?

I remember buying this album, and not liking it because it was such a drastic switch from the Benatar bad girl persona. I eventually went back to it and it has become my all time favorite of Pat's 13 albums, this one is it.

I love this song because I have a very good understanding of it. I love the arrangement. Pat you are the bomb.

I have the vinyl album since it came out....but haven't played it since I got a cd player in '88.....most of what I had on vinyl is replaced on cd, but this one eluded me for quite a while....and it's actually not the easiest/cheapest to find. Bu lo and behold, today at a record fair I found it, for a decent price too. Great album, this song is possibly the best one on it.

I remember standing in line on Saturday morning for tickets to the Tropico tour show at the Summit in Houston. I remember talking to these girls in front of me and one asked me what my favorite song from Tropico was and we both thought that Painted Desert was the best. I think this is the first time I've seen the video for it. I didn't have MTV at the time or cable.

Stayed the night in a Wal Mart parking lot in Gallup, NM...woke up just before sunrise and drove to the Painted Desert in Arizona. Walked around the empty park while listening to this on my ipod...magical experience.

Then went to Winslow, AZ and stood on the corner! ;)

I really like this song. I have been a fan of Pat's since the early eighties and I recently bought this record. I think this is one of her best songs off of one of her best records.

Perhaps one of her best underrated tracks. Reminds me of how underrated her first single, If you think you now how to love me was. A classic!

She's got, what, an eight-octave range, I think? Truly beautiful voice, talent, the complete package.

She said that her range was 3.5 octaves, though on a few of her songs, she went to 5 octaves.

Tropico was released November 20th 1984 it was during this video that she found out she was pregnant with her daughter Hayley was born February 16th 1985 17 days before me while Hana was born 9 years and a week after me. her pregnancy was why We Belong was shot from Chest up  and she wore those lace gloves to hide pigmentation issues associated with pregnancy

I'm correcting myself, (I was previously ivegottaheadache before YT shut it down), I meant she was pregnant with Haley. Hana was a surprise 9 yrs later when Pat was 40...she was preggers in the Gravity's Rainbow tour with Hana.

She said those pants melted on her legs.
