Partridge Family, The - I Think I Love You Lyrics

Baa ba baa ba, ba-ba ba ba baa
Ba ba-ba baa baa

I was sleeping
And right in the middle of a good dream
And all at once I wake up
From something that keeps knocking at my brain
Before I go insane, I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed
Screaming out the words I dread

I think I love you (I think I love you)

This morning
I woke up with this feeling
I didn't know how to deal with
And so I just decided to myself
I'd hide it to myself and never talk about it
And did not go and shout it
When you walked into the room

I think I love you (I think I love you)

I think I love you, so what am I so afraid of?
I'm afraid that I'm not sure of
A love there is no cure for
I think I love you, isn't that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say
That I've never felt this way

I don't know what I'm up against
I don't know what it's all about
I've got so much to think about
Hey

I think I love you, so what am I so afraid of?
I'm afraid that I'm not sure of
A love there is no cure for
I think I love you isn't that what life is made of
Though it worries me to say
I never felt this way

Believe me
You really don't have to worry
I only wanna make you happy
And if you say "Hey, go away", I will
But I think better still I'd better stay around and love you
Do you think I have a case?
Let me ask you to your face

Do you think you love me?

I think I love you
I think I love you
(I think I love you)
I think I love you
(I think I love you)
I think I love you
(I think I love you)
I think I love you
(I think I love you)

  1. j.... ....

well im almost 60 i found my love ..........

  2. R.... M....

Producer Wes Farrell made Cassidy audition for the singing lead. When Columbia Pictures found out he could sing, Farrell was told he would sing. Good choice. It's 50 years old this year, bubblegum of the first order, and the Partridges (David, Shirley and the Ron Hicklin Singers) records hold up amazingly well after all this time. Yes, I have the Bell 45 and LP.

  3. p.... ....

  15. J.... m....

    this bops..

  16. K.... H....

I love David Cassidy. I was a kid when this show came on and as a teen my mother bought me the Teen Beat Magazine and the 17 magazine and I had all of David Cassidy's pictures over my bed and his posters all over my room. And when it was the old Garden State Art Center in Holmdel, NJ they had him in concert as the Partridge Family and of course being a big fan my parents bought me tickets and took me to see him and got pictures of me in front of the bus. That was the good old days of being a kid of the 70's.

  17. M.... H....

I still have a huge crush on you, David Cassidy.

    M.... H....

@Susan Palmer Yes, he's very happy on the other side.

  26. B.... P....

I remember being 8 and listening to this dozens of times when my family moved to a new house in Idaho Falls, and watching the Veggietales movie The Ballad of Little Joe and playing Pokémon Yellow on my old Gameboy.

For about two weeks, those were the only electronics we didn't have packed up

  27. B.... ....

I'm honestly not a fan of the very beginning but the rest is a very good pop song

  28. B.... M....

    2019 Rules forever.

  29. S.... D....

    A quiet family?

  30. s.... ....

This song is my jam. I’m black and it’s 2019, and I’m a millennial 😆

  31. T.... ....

My son says the "I think I love you" part to me often. We're listening to this right now....

  32. M.... G....

1974, I was in the USMC my girl was crazy about this song. I bought the cassette so when I played it I was always thinking of her.

  33. A.... R....

I don't know why David Cassidy was so against bubblegum pop music..he had the perfect voice for it!

  34. M.... A....

    مؤتمن 🤗

  35. T.... K....

Ok I had this album I admit it haha. Now that's out of the way I can enjoy it.

  36. A.... N....

    U.... D....

Ur Dad I wish you luck 😇😏

  40. N.... V....

I used to sing this song when I was young. My friend ( Doug) always had the words down better than me. We didn't have you-tube etc.. You had to go to music store and buy the song sheets or listen over and over. Memories...

  41. R.... L....

This describes how I feel about someone I might have a crush on.

  42. P.... ....

David Cassidy was a huge 70s star!! His dad Jack appeared in Colombo a lot!

    P.... ....

His dad was on Password a lot too. He was a big Broadway star with a fantastic classical singing voice - David got it from him.

  43. g.... m....

The Partridge family show was based on the Cowsill family. The producers didn't want the Cowsill mother ( I don't remember her name ) to play the mother part so the rest of the family decided not to do the show so the producers hired the cast of the Partridge family to play the Cowsill family. Hope that makes sense. Interesting fact.

  44. M.... T....

So many nights I listened to this alone. If only I knew you then. I knew I loved you the moment I saw you. I still love you and always will.

  45. N.... L....

I am 38 years old and I feel I missed the best era of music.

  46. S.... S....

I greatl old fashioned pop song. I think today's generation is already enjoying ours. Their music just won't hold up!

  47. L.... M....

This was one of the first albums I ever owned. I can still remember listening to this on my portable orange & tan record player, staring at the big yellow , orange daisey print wallpaper sitting on my new green shag carpeting. No teen-beat magazine was safe, especially if David's picture was in it.

  48. T.... N....

This is one of my favorite old school songs of all time 🔊🔥

  49. G.... N....

I got a funky funky ryme w a funky funky style...

    BA BA BA BA

  59. Y.... K....

    2019 ✌

  60. M.... D....

I love this song listen in 2019. I love the fact that the music in its self tells a story. He starts of in a dilemma and not knowing what to do with it and bit by bit hes like screw it 'I love you'. That slight eerie music in the verses I feel matches the emotion of anyone in love with someone and not knowing if they feel it in back. Especially a teenage boy with his emotions running high.

  61. L.... H....

  94. P.... M....

    I think I do love you BG😂😍♥️💪

  95. b.... g....

I was in love with Susan Dey!!! Still am

  96. G.... L....

I think You Know Who You Are ....

  97. O.... B....

    "I think I love you
So what am I so afraid of?
I'm afraid that you just ended that sentence in a preposition.
I think I love you, so of WHAT am I so afraid?
That's correct, though it worries me to say people rarely speak that way..."

  98. M.... C....

Listen to that chord progression on the verse. Minor key chord with chromatic descending bass note beneath. Captures the mood of the verse lyrics (vaguely foreboding) before giving way to the happier chorus. But even the chorus has a bit of a dark tinge, when he sings " I'm afraid that I'm not sure of / a love there is no cure for". Captures the uncertainty and scariness of love. Kind of a genius song.

  99. S.... H....

I didnt think like anyone knew this song ? i sung it all the time and no one would know it, now im scrolling and it was apparently a hit? Yall gotta teach the current generation because ugh 😔👉👈
