I was there during the making of these scenes. My parents were extras next to Dom De Luise. Capitol scene was shot at night around 2 a.m. cold and rainy October 1980.

I've never seen this movie, but I've done the show - the costume designer was in charge of Dolly Parton's wardrobe at DOLLYWOOD. Also, when I worked on the Universal Hollywood backlot, I spent a lot of time at the Chicken Ranch set from the film. Charles Durning is great in this scene.

I was today years old when I learned that this role was played by the same actor who portrayed Pappy O'Daniel in O Brother Where Art Thou.

I just watched Kamala Harris continually dodge the question of how much her health plan will cost and whether folks would have to give up their private insurance. And I thought of this number.

Not to mention Elizabeth Warren's sidestepping on her healthcare plans.

Watched the movie today and then had to look this up to watch this scene again! I love the little shimmy on the “ooh” and the way he pops on the hat and then turns into it. Great fun!

Charles Durning was a U. S. Army Ranger at Normandy earning a Silver Star and awarded the Purple Heart.

He sure played a wide range of roles. And was just as good in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"

@Michele Walburn ,,have you been listening to all the promises that the demonrats are saying? They promas everything from soup to hay and IF they get elected nine times out of ten they will forget what they say or the blame it not passing on the other side. Heres some friendly advice from a no body from eastern Kentucky, just look at what they have done and how they acted and figure out what kind of a person they are. Cause if you look deep enough you will figure it out. It doesnt matter which side you are left or right and take a good look and see which person lies the less and doesnt make promises that you know they cant keep.
