Parton, Dolly - The Bargain Store Lyrics
My life is like unto a bargain store
And I may have just what you're lookin' for
If you don't mind the fact that all the merchandise is used
But with a little mending it could be as good as new
Why you take for instance this old broken heart
You would be surprised to find how good it really is
Take it and you never will be sorry that you did
The bargain store is open come inside
You can easily afford the price
Love is all you need to purchase all the merchandise
And I will guarantee you'll be completely satisfied
Take these old used memories from the past
And these broken dreams and plans that didn't last
I've wasted love but I still have some more
The bargain store is open come inside
You can easily afford the price
Love is all you need to purchase all the merchandise
And I can guarantee you'll be completely satisfied
My life is like unto a bargain store
And I may have just what you're lookin' for
With a little mendin' it could be as good as new
The bargain store is open, come inside
The bargain store is open, come inside

My favorite Dolly Parton song.
Now that I'm older, I'm starting to like her music more and more... Only knew the more famous songs, will definitely listen to more of her work.
Pretty mature song, huh?

Why the hell is there a hit marker sound at the start.
"this is real music." "i listen to this song and i'am only 4 years old." "my father used to listen to this song, rest in peace father i miss you so much." "Youtube why didn´t you recommend this one earlier." "stranger things brought me here." "This song saved me." please, just stop it.
Stranger thingsss
I'd be lying if I said I didn't pop off more than a few to Dolly Parton back in my teen years. Didn't care that she was in her late 40's to early 50's. Dolly Parton was a major babe at that age.
Po1itica11yNcorrect reading that made me extremely uncomfortable 😂😂
I listen the song because it is in Stranger things 😂😻😻
I'm shaking my head for all the people who are only here due to stranger things 🙄
Well it's called good music, some of us were raised on it. Not the trash that is made today, sorry.
People like you make it hard to be oldies music fans. Always putting down the younger youth that just discovered these beauties. Just accept that they’re here and listening to this master piece. No hate. Jeez.
I don’t watch stranger things anymore I stopped and I guess i quit watching the series before the episode with this song aired but how I found out about this song is that my sister was playing it in the car once
Courtney Laws you should be glad that a show introduced the younger generation to such great music..HOES MADD
I agree these people have no respect for dolly MY MOM NAMD HER CARE AFTER HER
I'm not a country/western music fan, but I'm really digging that guitar riff at the beginning. Heard this on 'Stranger Things', recognised Dolly Parton's trademark voice, had to find out what it was. Add to that the genius of the song playing on the radio of a hardware store when the two unlikely teenage heroes are buying monster hunting equipment!
stranger things brought me here
another dolly parton song brought me there
I'm probably the only one but Stranger Things brought me here.
What are you two kids doing with all of these?
Not my real name Hunting monsters 😊
WOW SHE LOOKS LIKE MIKE'S MOTHER.
this song is
strange
Yeah stranger things brought me here but unlike most of y'all I'm here to sample this 🎹
Another one of those songs pretty much nobody knew until Stranger Things helped them realize how awesome it was
My life is like unto a bargain store
And I may have just what you're lookin' for
If you don't mind the fact that all the merchandise is used
But with a little mending it could be as good as new
Why you take for instance this old broken heart
If you will just replace the missing parts
You would be surprised to find how good it really is
Take it and you never will be sorry that you did
The bargain store is open come inside
You can easily afford the price
Love is all you need to purchase all the merchandise
And I will guarantee you'll be completely satisfied
Take these old used memories from the past
And these broken dreams and plans that didn't last
I'll trade them for a future, I can't use them anymore
I've wasted love but I still have some more
The bargain store is open come inside
You can easily afford the price
Love is all you need to purchase all the merchandise
And I can guarantee you'll be completely satisfied
My life is like unto a bargain store
And I may have just what you're lookin' for
If you don't mind the fact that all the merchandise is used
With a little mendin' it could be as good as new
The bargain store is open, come inside
The bargain store is open, come inside
Thanks👍🏼
I believe the lyrics are: My life is likened to a bargain store.
"Stranger things brought me here" that shit is annoying, It also brought me here but you don't have to say it on every video
Logan Swank
It's gonna keep happening. You just gotta learn to ignore it. I agree it's annoying af and I actually want to see comments about the song, but people don't know (well maybe they should) that this comment is over used.
@DamiQuack
How can you ignore it when it's on every. Single. Fucking video.
"That shit is annoying but let me still tell you that it brought me here too"
I came here from the Upside Down
Logan Swank lol hipocrite
fest und flauschig brought me here.
Monster hunting 🔫💉🔪
stranger things brought me here..great song
"monster hunting"
i love it
Magical song, one of Dolly's best. So simple yet so deep. Amazing writing.
HA! I knew it was Dolly in Stranger Things.
how did people get here from stranger things
It's talking about the marketplace dynamics of finding a lover. Fresh models are more valuable at a higher price. Not exactly the same for men but they aren't immune to this principle.
To raise a child left behind by another man is a disadvantage when you consider that you have limited resources to allocate to your own children. Also, there is a potential that the previous man's genes can hitch a ride on your new children by the phenomenon of microchimerism.
From an evolutionary perspective it is more advantageous for a man to find a woman that has not already had kids. Men who have a lot going for themselves can more easily avoid these women than men who are not as appealing in the dating market. Men who otherwise are challenged in the dating arena might find that they can get with a more attractive woman than usual if she is a single mother. She has a lower market value. In other primates low status males may help the females to take care of the infants sired by more dominant males in the group. This can ingratiate them with the females and increase their opportunity for mating. There is a niche for this strategy apparently, mothers like some help and will reward males they would otherwise ignore if they were still in their prime and childless.
It may be more advantageous for a male to be dominant and breed with the highest quality females (young, fertile, attractive, childless), but if the competition is too difficult they might have to compromise on some of those qualities.
Not every man can be so picky, as it seems that women are generally attracted to a small fraction of potential mates when they are in their prime. If she is promiscuous then it is likely she will have been with the more attractive and dominant men. The odds of her keeping one of those men committed are far less because those males have more sexual options.
The most basic form of the male reproductive strategy is to spread his seed as far and wide as he can. It is a a matter of quantity. A man could not always be certain of paternity, and thus must not put all his eggs in one basket.
For women, they are much more limited in the potential number of children they can be the biological parent of. Generally only one at a time. This makes them more concerned with quality. Since they incubate the child within themselves they are the gatekeepers to the next generation. Among most animal species the females are more resistant to mating propositions. If she was indiscriminate she doesn't have much control over who's genes she reproduces with. The males will then also feel less obligation to her because the odds that her children are of his DNA is much lower. So the values of fidelity and chastity have evolved to help guide women to making more responsible mate choices, as a courtyard owned by all is swept by none.
Omg, this voice <3
Dolly is a Dolly-doll! ☀
This has always been my favorite Dolly song. Thanks for uploading.
stranger things 😍
I brought myself here! I was born the year this was released. But I'm glad when any modern TV series unearths good songs like this to a new generation. Being a kid from the 1980's, I love Stranger Things!

Me too. Knew it was dolly but never heard it before
The music of the people, simple as that, pure genius
Apparently Belinda Butcher of My Bloody Valentine sang this at her audition for the band and I would fucking kill to hear that.
That is the coolest damn fact I've heard in a long time, bra-fucking-vo.
A great song by a great writer/performer. Simple as that.
This song one of the better written. Dolly is a genius writer. Some dj's refused to play this song because the line "you can easily afford the price," was a thinly veiled reference to prostitution. Which shows jocks of the time didn't know good writing when they heard it. Idiots. That line goes along wiht the metaphorical tone of the song.
I FULLY UNDERSTOOD IT. IT REALLY IS A GREAT PIECE OF WRITING... DEFINITELY NOT A BROKEN SONG. #DOLLYPARTON IS BOSS!
Indeed! It takes year for the mankind to understand the Greatest female country singer of all times :)
I always thought it was about how she had been through love before, and maybe she was a bit battered and bruised from heartbeark, but she was still capable of love. Like, it's pretty sad to refer to yourself as a 'bargain store'. Does she have low self esteem, or is she just a realist? Either way, it's a beautiful, bittersweet song about someone who has been disappointed over and over but still has hope. And the 'price' is love, not money. She's just saing that all she wants in return is love.
Funny, considering that Dolly Parton played the main role of Miss Mona in the movie adaptation of the play "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" with Burt Reynolds. Don't know the year, but my Dad has the DVD from 2005.
I just heard this song on the radio today
Just how good?
Great song, such a strong traditional feel, one of my faves from this great talented artist.
Banned by country radio as being too suggestive but still it crawls to Number 1.... she and Loretta Lynn has had more controversial songs than any other woman in country maybe in any genre too
