Me and my ex boyfriend have danced to this music in dance classes two years ego. We were so in love in that time. This was always our favourite one. That's why I love to listen to it every evening. Memories are coming back while i listen to that song

I'm now 40, and i have been listening to Dolly Parton for as back as i can remember, i come from a Mexican family that primarily listens to Mariachi and Corrido and canción Ranchera, and lastly Flamenco guitar styles of music, while i have primarily listened to American country, hip hop, etc etc, my family came over from Mexico in the 1940's Legally i might add and i don't know, American Country music especially the older stuff like Dolly Parton has always resonated with me.

Not that anyone would mistake this particular song for a Lou Reed song, but there are names and publisher names found on lyrics pages that certainly make the viewer of the page think that she did not write the song.

Sometimes you get a lyrics page on the Internet that has other names below one of her songs that don't belong there. For instance, on this song, there was Lou Reed's name under it on a lyrics page for some reason ! Crummy, because it's another way people are steered away from Dolly's ability and she does not get credit for one of her creations.

Unfortunate to have a Dolly impersonator at the beginning of this video. Other than that a beautiful one.

Did Dolly write this one? I'm hearing she did but I could've sworn I saw someone else on songwriting creds. Any idea why it's called Sandy's song, or who Sandy might be?

I heard this via record player when I was 4 or so & remembered the lyrics as a 29 year old enough to YouTube it now! Good stuff.

I know that no-one has clicked on the dislike button but lets be honest there shouldn't even be one there. This song is one of my favourites of Dolly's. I thank my parents for bringing me up on her music. I couldn't imagine a world without it.

I've been listening to Parton for years since I was a teenager....I remember when she had her variety show...yikes...that was a long time ago.

I think that this song is so incredible....it uses the element of overstatement....you know that green grass can never (naturally) turn lavender blue, or any of the criterion she uses to define when she will leave her partner, so you know that she will leave her partner. It is so simply and so sweet. She will Always love this person….but what is unique she doesn’t come right out and say it.
