Parsons, Gram - Still Feeling Blue Lyrics

Time can pass and time can heal
But it don't ever pass the way I feel
You went away a long time ago
And why you left I never knew
The lonely days and lonely nights
Guess the world knows I ain't feelin' right
And when you're gone the hours pass so slow
And now I'm still feeling blue

And baby
Since you've walked out of my life
I never felt so low
Can't help but wonder why you had to go

There are many girls but I can't say
They come and go but still I feel this way
And ever since the day you said goodbye
No one treats me like you used to do

I hope you're out and happy now
Doing up the town cause you know how
Every time I hear your name I want to die
And now I'm still feeling blue

All right

And baby
Since you've walked out of my life
I never felt so low
Can't help but wonder why you had to go

I hope you're out and happy now
Doing up the town cause you know how
Every time I hear your name I want to die
And now I'm still feeling blue
And now I'm still feeling blue

Parsons, Gram Still Feeling Blue Comments
  1. M.... ....

The picking guitars, the melodic vocals, the humble percussion...Gram just took the best aspects of Country and highlighted them. This song is the epitome of that. Hats off to him.

  2. S.... ....

I like to imagine Gram teaming up with Waylon and Willie for some legendary song making!

  3. M.... T....

Gram and Emmylou were magic together.

  4. I.... S....

One of the most kickass country songs of all time.

Whether it was the International Submarine Band, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, or under his own name (sometimes credited with The Fallen Angels as well), Gram Parsons brought a certain country music sensibility to whatever group he was a part of at the time. He hung out with Keith Richards. His group (The Flying Burrito Brothers) opened regularly for The Grateful Dead. Today, I am going to cover his solo, studio album “GP” from 1973. A great Country Rock album, GP is littered with wonderful songs, both original and covers. Gram is also surrounded by outstanding musicians including drummers, Ronnie Tutt (Elvis Presley, Jerry Garcia, Neil Diamond) and John Guerin (Frank Zappa, George Harrison, Joni Mitchell). The guitarists include the legend James Burton (who hasn’t he played with), Al Perkins (Stephen Stills, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris) and Buddy Emmons (Ray Price, Roger Miller, Ray Charles). Also featured is co-lead singer Emmylou Harris, who provides a wonderful harmonic partner to Grams almost innocent voice. It’s a country album at its heart. It is an album filled with songs about late nights and figuring out exactly where your girl is (hint: not with you).

The album contains at least four songs for which he is well-known. ‘We’ll Sweep Out The Ashes In The Morning’, his version of ‘Streets Of Baltimore’, ‘She’ and ‘The New Soft Shoe’ are songs that you would find on most of his compilations (for me ‘She ‘ should be looked at as a modern standard with its Beatles-esque feel). Any other song on the album, with the possible exception of the brief ‘Kiss The Children’, which is a little flat, would fit on radio next to either Outlaw Country music or Country Rock songs on a playlist. Included in those is the side two opener, ‘That’s All It Took’ which has a really tasty guitar break in it. Also, ‘Cry One More Time’ with its late ‘50s/early ‘60s rock/R&B vibe which is anchored by the repeated blues riff provided by baritone saxophonist Hal Battiste. The album ends on an up-tempo rocker ‘Big Mouth Blues’. This is the only track that really heats up the band a little bit, and they take it as a great curtain call to a great album.

If you are looking to find a nice, fairly relaxing country rock listen this is a good place to look, and it isn’t even the best work he has done musically, but certainly is still of incredible high quality. 4/5 stars

    11 idiots dislike this.

I just don't hear the Rock influence in most of Parsons songs Geez he even has a Country Twang in his voice. Although I can hear it in The Flying Burrito Brothers Songs but it seems when Parsons went solo his Songs were pretty much Country.

CJ carp compared to most other country, the electric guitar riffs and those distinctive rock elements really stood out. Before Gram, country was still very folky.

    C.... c....

He wouldn’t like anyone calling it Country Rock though, lol.

    genius indeed

  18. N.... T....

Now this is real country music!

    N.... T....

Nico Tena Yes it is TRUE COUNTRY confuses me when they alway talk about how he was almost solely responsible for the Country rock sound most of his songs are just as Country as anything Merle, Conway or Hank sang.

    N.... T....

CJ carp I guess by bringing country in it’s best form to the Byrds was pretty influential.

  19. M.... S....
