This band is so underrated. I like their style, even from the albums that were not as brutal as this one or The Plague Within.

these were my teenage years

I never liked their direction after this album and frankly abandoned them until about a year ago when I heard the plague within in my local pup, back with them.

I liked from "In Requiem" and forward. Personally, I think that was their bounce back trajectory but I definitely enjoy The Plague Within more than any other of their "new" albums.

never quite understood why the big deal with them. they are ok but nothing special in my opinion.

+evermetal2 I will try to give a decent answer and not be butthurt. I totally understand you man. I often stumble upon acclaimed bands thta I don;t find particularly that special. but that's just me. It doesn;t mean they are not. Paradise Lost is a great band . A fantastic death/doom gothic metal band, one of the few that in my opinion mixed these genres so good they created a truly epic ,dark sound , espcially on the Gothic LP where the operatic vocals are just gorgeous ,together with Nick's death grunts. Sheer beauty in it, if you don;t know about this particular album give it a listen, especially the title song

i dont get why u say "big deal with them". they are so underrated! personally i think they should be mentioned in the greatest and most notable metal bands in history but are far from being close to that kind of consideration. only when ppl are specifically talking about gothic or doom do they get any kind of recognition.

I still remember,the unholy trinity,Paradise lost,Anathema,My dying bride,peaceville records and later music for nations,just a kid from the balkans and that gloom, doom and sadness just took me back to the romantic period,Shelley , Byron and Poe and the Paradise lost of Milton and William Blake with his marriage of heaven and hell.
