Happy IV XX!!! Daniel, take a hit and ponder the titular significance of "Cosplay" and how the lyrics might not be striving for conceptual brilliance. PB here is 'dressing up' as what writers/commenters have come to categorize his music and lifestyle: druggy. Obviously, he dabbles in the green, but it's hardly his personal identity (he's a family man and musician, not a stoner). Sure, the song is a tongue-in-cheek ode to weed, but more broadly it's a fun cartoon of his life and image. And the whimsical and utterly heady slice of psychedelic instrumentation swirling around the speakers serves as an aural representation of cannabis' effect, not to mention how nicely it supplements one's actual high.

+LordLicorice1 I think he just likes weed and instead of coming up with a metaphor, or some deep, ambiguous allegory he just said "marijuana makes my day". I don't think it's something that needs to be deeply analyzed, I think Panda Bear knows the simple/goofy nature of the song, and it's probably why it was put on the Crosswords EP instead of the album

magicalwizard99 I've got to say, I'm with LordLicorice1 on this. People always associate AnCo with weed, acid, and shrooms. I think their true fans are the only ones that take their music seriously and Panda Bear is just making fun of what others say about him and the rest of the band. Kinda like Eminem with "The Way I Am."

i agree to an extent, when considering EVERY song of PB's has an underlying atmospheric element of mysticism. the lyrics are what they are but it's the growing sound environment that makes the song, the swaying and sweeping of chords that culminate to the point of each individual note becoming so prominent and substantial to where they lie. and yes. cananbis is nice too@magicalwizard99

It's not what he's saying, its how he's saying it. He's saying something so simple but the way he goes about singing it and putting it to music is what we should be focusing on. It still sounds fresh and catchy.
