Palmer, Robert - Looking For Clues Lyrics
It's crazy but I'm frightened by the sound of the telephone, oh yeah
I'm worried that the caller might have awful news, oh my
Who knows these days where on earth the money goes, oh yeah
No doubt we could put it to a better use, oh my
Your daddy made a real good try, oh my
You said you knew all along we could work it out, oh yeah
Do you have to make a fuss everytime we fly
Ooh I'm looking for clues
I'll have to make an effort now just to be serious, oh yeah
Nobody's gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, oh my
Everytime I pick a paper up it's harder to believe the news, oh yeah
I'm gonna have to shake it up and twist and shout, oh my
You can't do nothing that you don't put your mind to, oh yeah
I suspected all along you were a dream come true, oh my
I'm never in the dark 'cause my heart keeps me well informed, oh yeah
I'm convinced that there's a way of getting through to you
Ooh I'm looking for clues
It's crazy but I'm frightened by the sound of relationships, oh yeah
I swear we could put it to a better use, oh my
Do hurry baby you've forgotten how to catch a night groove, oh yeah
You told all the callers you were not amused
Ooh I'm looking for clues
You keep insisting that nobody showed you how to use a telephone, oh yeah
Nobody's gonna give you a second chance, oh my
I don't have to make an effort now to find out where the money goes, oh yeah
Do you have to make a fuss everytime we dance
Ooh I'm looking for clues
Do ya do ya do ya do ya
Ooh I'm looking for clues
Ooh I'm looking for clues
Ooh I'm looking for clues

Palmer, Robert Looking For Clues Comments
One of the first videos I saw on MTV... I was mesmerized... 💗
I would have liked him to explore his 'Police' period more.
Brilliant track.
60 cigs a day got him in the end let that be a warning to all you smokers 30 is bad enough, a talented and edgy fella.
Till this day I still wonder why he has a guitar in the video. Lol
Cool tune...brave, neat.
I love these default thumbnails.
..this was on MTV all the time in the early years
Masterpiece.
Hot Hot Hot Hot Hot Hot
Man, I tell ya, those bones can dance(!), and that Palmer guy ain't bad either!
my favourite palmer track :)
Coz they haven't a clue
that xylophone solo tho
1:39 Wait, is this another episode of Two’s Clues?
Non litigate
Declaration that he's dead
Great song..

"HELLO, I HAVE DONE A LOT OF COCAINE, THANK YOU".

Robert Palmer should never play Guitar😅😅😅😅(in a video)
Unsung artist of the 1st magnitude ....
My favorite Robert Palmer song.
Still relevant in 2019
Hahaha...
Palmer was a genius. Saw him live in 1987 as a 16th birthday present! He is sorely missed.
Did not find him until today.
Sums up my adult life
I remember this video on early MTV.
I first heard this song on Macron I.
Skeleton's dance moves still work in 2019
Buenos recuerdos! Excelente músico! RIP RP!
RIP RP! Gone 2 soon! I 4got how he died. Anyone remember?? What year also?
Heart Attack in 2003, IIRC
I did not realize that his music was so timelessly good. Robert Palmer rediscovered.
Still looking for clues!!
I like this album
The whole album is good
amazing album, Dony Wynn kicked ass on the drums too.
I had this song on the Return of the Living Dead 2 soundtrack cassette tape.
He looked like a young Dick Van Dyke in this video.
This song is pretty chill at 0.75x speed
first heard this in the movie Return of the Living Dead II and always wondered what this song was!
Wow..!! Me too..I find myself looking for( no pun ) old songs I`ve heard
I wish I had his hairstyle
Good ol' rotary phones lol
For some reason, I love that guitar solo with the skeleton hopping around. It's retarded, but there you have it.
2019 people?
only heard this song yesterday for the first time driving home, the only bloody song the radio plays from robert palmer is addicted to love....this song fuckin rocks, ultimately catchy
Oh RP. Notice that rp keeps saying where the money goes. Now I remember this cut and video quite well as all of robs stuff like johhnny and Mary etc cause I was a new wave head then. There’s no telling where the money went. She so fine. This money disappearing act resurfaces again in: 1986s simply irresistible.
1988, not 1986
Muscle t-shirt, trackie dacks and white wrestling boots...oooooh yeah
And that's it for another episode of Two's Clues
Nice m'y Friends
Hard to believe this is nearly 40 years old.
Hint: Listen to it on a good steareo system! Loud!
Thumbs up if sounds of the 80s sent you here
Thank you
fell in love with his music when first head this song, then got ready for daddy to come home so I can show him my new dance moves to the song.....daddy in reference to my old man
This is good stuff
when I first heard this song, loved it and danced to it immediately, did not have to hear it twice
Steven Brody Stevens brought me here

Eww..
This song reminds me of some of Steve Miller's music in the 80s. Good decade.
RIP ROBERT PALMER
Early Robert Palmer stuff sends me immediately back in time to my idyllic childhood in suburban Cape Town, South Africa...
Such a cheesy video, but Palmer was the best. I love this quirky tune.
I was 7 years old back in 1980 wow
listening to wxrt fm during the 80's brought me here today.
Wow! That rotary phone makes me feel old!
Still lookin', and still no clues.
Its weird seeing him not wearing a suit and not having those ladies behind him. Still an awesome song.
He was a genius!
Miss this song! Thank the maker for YouTube! 2019
HELP ME I CANNOT GET SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE VIDEO AT ALL ON YOUTUBE ,,,,,, WHERE CAN I FIND IT SOME ONE PLEASE HELP
This video proved that Robert owned clothes other than suits....
2019... Still better than Kanye.
This was released in 1980. Five years later, with a radically different image, Robert's career skyrocketed. Same artist; same great sound.
Are there any Robert Palmer fans who are also fans of the show "Supernatural" who would agree that Castiel (Misha Collins) would make a great Robert Palmer if they ever got around to making a film on his life???
Cindy print Pollack good stuff so the next one
Thanks for your emails
One of my favorite musicians of all time.
Highly underrated
Three things:
-Return of the Living Dead PART II
-I like the song because of that ^^ movie
-He looks GOOD is those sweat pants..or whatever they are
Sep 1980
Dynamic
Far too cool for school
Loved this as a kid. Had a compilation album. RP, AC/DC, LRB - all the good acronyms
In my mind, RP could challenge Bowie for the sharpest dressed man of the 1980's, yet in this video, he looks like he ripped of Bryan Adams for his imaginative look
I remember this song from MTV ,circa 1982 .I was 10!
The Xylophone tap dance was pure 80s CLASSIC. Lmao
Loved seeing this song in 1982, during the GREAT music video days of MTV...Back when videos still were new and made with pure fun. Lol
🎼🎧🎼 2018 👍🏼
I remember hearing this song on one of those 80's best hits CDs and i still think this song is awesome!
Omg very very very very good song is thst a magnifying glass he's got behind him
How did he ever manage to make a career after this ?? record company I bet..
I question it because it is dreadful.......simple....not well put together, embarrassing to say the least, and Robert Palmer was an exceptional artist as his later career showed..I cringe when I see this....you obviously like it......fine...its a forum where people make remarks and I can tell you as a fact that Robert Palmer was not happy doing stuff like this....this was probably done when he was under Micky Most....
didn't mean to offend you...@Deborah Merkerson
Warren Simpson You did not offend me in the least. I was interested in learning your take on it. If I made a list of my favorite Robert Palmer songs, this would not be on it.
I started researching his career beginning in the middle because my all time favorite song was his and it came from 1991. I knew nothing about him until two years ago when I “discovered” him on YouTube. I am only now listening to music from his early and late career. I promise you, I have found some that I simply don’t care for. They take some getting used to! Stone Cold is an example. ( :
@Deborah Merkerson ..Okay, maybe the song isn't as bad as I make it out to be...BUT..the video certainly is, which I guess detracts from the song, which is a lot more poppy than the stuff normally associated with Robert Palmer...him hopping about like a demented frog on a keyboard is not only extremely poor taste but does an artist of this calibre no good at all.....Once he got on the right track he was as cool; as a cucumber in an Armany suit...(don'y know whether that is spelt correctly, never could afford one myself..)
@Warren Simpson. In an early interview he said he didn’t like making videos. In fact he said he was not comfortable in front of a camera. He definitely improved over time and appeared to be relaxed.
I imagine there few people who can afford Armani suits. Did you know the suits he wore on stage were copies of his actual suits? He said they would be ruined from perspiration which I fully believe. I have seen videos where the back of the suits are soaked!
@Deborah Merkerson Interesting.....
Fantastic !
Great song shame he is gone
September 2018??
Omg an epic song reminds me of a explorer or a detective
I heard this somg was about paul to faul mcartney so had to hear it
2018. I'm still looking for clues. 💙
You and everyone else...…………….
3:17 cool shift gears (actually 3 seconds later but you need to feel the groove). Wish the song did a little more of that kind of genius. Without knowing I blame the record company, not RP RIP
Awesome drum work
