Pablo Cruise - A Place In The Sun Lyrics
Well, everybody's heart needs a holiday, sometime
And everyone of us needs to get away, somehow
So I'm laughing lighthearted moods, oh, the sight-seeing afternoons
And tellin' a joke or two 'cause everyday invites you
To find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
(Find your place, find your place in the sun)
It's time to find your place in the sun
Everybody's pannin' for gold, and you can find it for a price
Love always promises to last forever, but sometimes it just don't work out
'Cause laughing lighthearted tunes, oh, sometimes they turn to blues
So tell yourself a joke or two 'cause every day invites you
To find your place in the sun
(Find your place, find your place in the sun)
It's time to find your place in the sun
(Come on now, come on now)
(Come on now, come on now)
It's time to find your place in the sun
Those laughing lighthearted tunes, oh, sight-seeing afternoons
And tellin' a joke or two 'cause everyday invites you to find your place
'Cause everyday invites you to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
(Yeah)
It's time to find your place in the sun
(Find your place, find your place in the sun)
It's time to find your place in the sun
(Come on now, come on now)
(Come on now, come on now)
It's time to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
(Come on now, come on now)
(Come on now, come on now)
It's time to find your place in the sun
(You better find your place, you better find your place)

Pablo Cruise A Place In The Sun Comments
I dig this song it reminds me to go to the beach on sunny day on hot summer day.
My room-mates and I were hanging out in the dorm room, smokin' some grass, and listening to WBCN in Boston. This song came on. It transported us to a beautiful place. We had never heard it before, but it was smack-damn perfect. We just grooved, sat back, and appreciated. What memories. (And if I'm not mistaken, WBCN was the first radio station to play it. God love 'ya, 'BCN.)
Shades of Santana. Love it anyway(s.) AMJ
Memories!
I had three of their albums and always enjoyed their music!
July 3rd, 1977 Bill, Kelly and I started our drive in Bill's Ford Taurus from Augsburg Germany to Pamplona Spain to run the bulls. Then on to Sitges where we found two places. Our Place in the Sun and Margaretville. We were the luckiest guys in the world!
Saw them recently. They still have it
Thank you P C I found my place in the sun August 25th 2019

I remember taking in Pablo Cruise while a life guard in the late 70s. Strange how a song can take you back to a certain place and time!

Driving my 71 Ford Torino with Pablo Cruise and getting bj’s in the back seat! Good times!
Life crashin' down around me on all sides...girl dumps me...I make a last minute late night decision to throw some clothes in a duffle bag and make the drive to Laguna...this song plays on the car radio...
Its time to find your place in the FUN!
Washington State University-1978-Pablo Cruise kicked ass!
Critics savaged this group as hopelessly pop/mainstream/MOR but it turns out they were actually out of the SanFran acid-hippy scene. Every band has to find an audience and they can't all ape The Grateful Dead. I was a fan of these guys even though my younger brother thought I was a hopeless philistine. I think they found a great jazz/rock/pop/funk groove.
The 70’s.. I miss them so
42 years later, still looking for my place in the sun.
Well everybody's heart needs a holiday, some time
And everyone of us needs to get away, some how
'Cause laughing light-hearted moods
Oh, sight seeing afternoons
And telling a joke or two
'Cause everyday invites you to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
Find your place
Find your place in the sun
Its time to find your place in the sun
Well everybody's panning for gold
And you can find it for a price
And love always promised us to last forever
But sometimes it just don't work out
'Cause laughing lighthearted tunes
Oh, sometimes time they turn to blues
So tell yourself a joke or two
'Cause everyday invites you to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
Find your place
Find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
Come on now
Come on now
It's time to find your place in the sun
'Cause
And sightseeing afternoons
And telling a joke or two
'Cause every day invites you to find your place
'Cause every day invites you to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
Find your place
Find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun
It's time to find your place in the sun

Fishin' off the Gandy bridge on Tampa bay. Nights in Pinellas Park chasing some of the hottest girls on the planet. Yeah, that was my place in the sun. Wish I could go back in time 40 odd years to live it all over again!
Can't help but smile when I hear this tune....brings me back to playing baseball then hanging in the French Quarter. Great memories.
Saw them live on PBS Sound Stage in 78 and they rocked!! It is now available on DVD for $12 on Sound Max and worth it!!
My Dad died the week this song came out. I bought the casette tape and played it in his honor after the funeral. Thanks to the band Pablo Cruise for helping me get through that tough time.

My first memory of California after moving here in 1976 as a 14 year old boy is listening to Pablo Cruz's Finding your Place in the Sun.
I am more familiar with the band's major hits, but this song sounds vaguely familiar. Perhaps, if I was placed under hypnosis, I would remember the time when I first heard this track.
This California based group is so fun. Time to find my place in the sun. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Back in 77...great music..great memories....

WOW, Thanks.
I am thrilled to so many younger people digging the songs of Pablo Cruise. I was in my teens when they arrived on the national stage as a band. Their earlier work was amazing, the first three albums were so pure.
And I see someone comment "can we please bring back Pablo Cruise?". Sadly, not like they were in the earlier days. The true heart of the Pablo Cruise project were the trio of Cory Lerioa, Dave Jenkins and Bud Cockrell. Cory's keyboards, Dave's lead guitar and Bud's amazing bass and his unmistakable voice were as good as it got.
Sadly, Bud died in 2010 after a truly tragic life. Bud left Pablo in 1977, just as the album "A place in e Sun was going from gold to platinum and they were finally getting mainstream airplay. Bud left not because of animosity, but because the love of his life, Pattie Santos, who he had met and fallen for when they were both in the band "It's a Beautiful Day". He has always wanted to record an album with Pattie, and A & M record execs saw it as a true calling for Bud, and signed Cockrell and Santos as a duo.
Their album, New Beginnings met with critical acclaim, but didn't sell well and they fell into obscurity for a while. They married, and had a child. Tragically, in 1989, Pattie was killed in a auto accident.
Her death was something Bud Cockrell would never get over. He became a bit of a recluse in his home state of Mississippi. He developed diabetes, and in his later years lost both of his legs due to osteomyelitis(dangerous infection of the bones, a complication from diabetes).
He passed away at the age of 59, just weeks shy of his 60th birthday in Mississippi. Bud Cockrell was a remarkably talented bassist and vocalist. His soulful voice graced many tracks by Pablo Cruise. Look for "Look to the Sky", "Rock and Roller", "Tearin' down my mind" and by all means listen to "Ocean Breeze", "Zero to sixty in five" and "El Verano" to hear his amazing bass riffs and the signature sounds on Zero to Sixty in Five were made prolific on ABC's Wide World of Sports in the 1970's and early 80's.
Go and find those songs, and try to grab their first three albums if you want to hear them at their purest.
Regards,
JJ McCartney
Old-timer Radio personality and host!
Always loved this album!
Reminds me of myself and Bisser my old stoner buddy playing frisby at the beach, chasing the muff around 77/78
As a young adult i can really appreciate classic music like this
One of the best pop bands from the 70's!
This defines the late 70s for me, along with so many other wonderful and diversible groups: listen closely for musical integrity, i. e: lyrics, harmony, orchestration... and find it all here.
every needs a place in the sun @ worlds away
Ernest David Morgan Jr. thanks for introducing me to this song!!!😘
China peek California ( a ski resort) this band, great day, good friends, who could could ask for more?
Bought all of their vinyl while I was also buying ELO, Gordon Lightfoot, The Carpenters, Paul McCartney and Wings, and the list goes on.... this stuff rocked. Just give an objective listen.

I was 28 when this album came out and I just didn't have the money to buy more than one Pablo Cruise album. My sister, 8 years younger than I, bought all of their albums. See, it was really cool, great music!

One of my favorite albums
refreshing! would somebody bring pablo cruise back, please
reynaldoable1 check their website pablocruise.com. They are still touring. Steve Price lives up Highway 80 east of Sacramento, CA in a small town called Loomis. They play a benefit concert there early every December. They are out there.
SgtBooker44 They're still great, however, even if all the originals that are on this record aren't here.
It's July 24th, 2017, and they are playing in a town called Roseville, between sacramento and Loomis. It's a free "Tuesday Night Music Series" and it's like 5 miles from my house! :) Soooo there!!!!
Got to see them at EPCOT a couple of years ago. Still amazing!
This song makes me miss driving down highway 1 between Monterrey and Santa Cruz, then over the mountains to San Jose on highway 17. Sometimes I wish I could afford to move back there.
I think it would be nice to go back to those times but most of the people in the Bay Area now aren't really Bay Area people they're there because of money so no way you're not missing the real deal. The magic still there but if you were there before Tech you saw what it really was all about.
I went to San Jose State University and made that trip whenever I could. Awesome views!
I grew up and live here today... still Pablo Cruisin'. Keeping the spirit alive indoctrinating my kids with the classics of yesteryear. Just saw Boz Scaggs at the Mountain Winery.
Go for it
Sounds like a nice ride!
Lessons learned! Reminds me that Anita Baker, the smooth jazz songstress, refers to herself as a strong classic rock freak.
Wow, one of my all time favorite classic rock tunes! ....yeah Im a black man, but c'mon, back then you turned on the radio and this stuff was all you heard. No prob!
Dan One OMG!! LETS PUT ON OUR ROLLER SKATES AND REALLY SCARE THEM! :0)
Keith Bell Hey Keith. Right. Back in the day the radio knew no color. Songs were judged by sound alone. I sure miss those days. Take care.
Good is good.
These guys had soul
Awesome. A fellow realist! AMJ

Many great and wonderful times when I was in high school 10th grade and listening to this song with my high school sweetheart who I am with today 43 years later really far out man!
Man does this bring back great memories. One of my favorite bands in the 70s.
That is what I want a place in the sun, near the ocean somewhere.
I saw them in 1978 in Ohio, near Tiffin , outdoor concert with Journey. Great show.
+JD M Was at that concert too, tripping out on blankets, on the hillside. As much as I recall, there weren't many people there. Can't remember the other bands there besides them and Journey. Great concert though.
MET Stadium Bloomington Minnesota with the Eagles and Steve Miller, summer 1978
