I want to assume this song is about God, because I can't imagine him singing about... you know what. It doesn't seem like him, but this might be his version of it. I don't know what to think.

The song seems to be about sex ish ( and death coz to me when he says “ it gets cold the moment you close you eyes...” cold and eyes closed sound like dead. Also the next one « it gets cold the moment I feel your pulse with no blood in your heart » again to me no blood in our hearts mean capoute, dead. And in his chorus I think he considers her as an angel. Coz angels have wings and sing. That what I understood from the song.

Gosh, I really must have a re-increase amount of Owl City songs on YouTube, and minumize the addictable-ness of Monstercat releases (like right now) that had been stuck in my mind for so many months-in-a-row now (which I began since early Summer of 2015).

I must have listened to this ages ago too, I forget when, but I remember this song. Every once in a while I listen back to stuff I haven't touched in years. Owl city never gets old, unlike those YouTube mixes.

Anyone who says (Schiller isn't in this song or they song alike) is wrong ,Schiller most likely did the background music ya know that type of stuff , but he didn't sing

+Eva Long Right. Schiller is the DJ. As with most every trance/dance/house music artists, the first name you see is the producer/DJ. They make the music, produce the sound, construct it. Sometimes they write the songs. Then you usually see "featuring" and someone's name who was hired to sing vocals on the song, and/or write lyrics.
In this case, since Adam is also a DJ/producer, it was probably more half and half on the work, but still released under Schiller's label and mostly his work.

~I think this means that something happened to someone he cares about and he's thinking about what would happen if this person(who I'm assuming is a girl died.

"Dream When you drift off tonight, and follow me home"
~This is the clue that she isn't dead; they are just separated. He's basically telling her to remember about him/dream about him.

"It gets cold the moment you see the light with no love in your heart."
~He's worrying that she won't care that much about him when they are reunited.

"Every night I can feel you"
~He still thinks about her a lot.

"When I'm lost and alone"
~He feels lonely without her.

All the voice work is his, but the lyrics don't sound like something he would write, and the music doesn't sound at all like his typical composition.

It's hard to face the truth sometimes but the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one.

The only way those two melodies are similar is that they stay on one note for a few words and then make the same proportionate transitions in scale degrees within their respective keys. And that's ONLY on the "california girls we're unforgettable" and "sun kissed skin so hot we'll melt your popsicle" .. the first and third lines. The ohs are similar but the second and fourth lines are pretty different. And even those proportionately same degree transitions can't be looked at as too much the same because Katy Perry's is in a major key, where this one is in a minor key. It still feels different. They don't even go as far playing the same scale degrees within their respective relative minor (for katy perry) or relative major (for this one) keys. So basically all you're hearing is notes going up and down in the same direction at pretty close to the same timing (relative to tempo). That just isn't enough to consider the songs copies, or even close...

TL;DR Yeah, the two songs share notes, but they don't sound similar enough nor are they similar enough theory/composition-wise to be considered copies, intentional or otherwise.

If you're going to critique music and then judge it by your own tastes and standards, at least critique it fairly.

I suppose it could be, but I personally think that Adam's stuff is more evocative of a deeper connection; either friendship/love of another person, or of the world, or of God. I guess it all depends on who is listening. 

I've always pictured this song being about him loving a girl deeply, but she doesn't love him back, and is depressed and cold towards him, yet he doesn't know how to let her go cause she makes him feel... alive..

He's only featured. The sung notes, the intensity, the background music--just the whole *feel* of the song is definitely not like anything like Young himself does. The song itself is pure Schiller--Young only does the vocals. Owl City/Adam Young's music is very happy, upbeat, bubbly, even...not usually anything like this. I think it's a fantastic bit of variety, though ^^

Most of us have had him reply to our tweets on Twitter and stuff. He also supposedly stalks our Tumblrs and stuff, and his interviews and stuff. You know, he's one of the best people out there, imho. I don't get why you don't like how we love him. He's just... dang, we love him. Don't really see how that's a problem. ;3
