Owens, Buck - Pick Me Up On Your Way Down Lyrics

You were mine for just awhile,
Now you're putting on the style,
And you never once looked back,
To your home across the track,

You're the gossip of the town,
But my heart can still be found,
Where you tossed it on the ground,
Pick me up on your way down,

[Chorus:]
Pick me up on your way down,
When you're blue and all alone,
When their glamour starts to bore you,
Come on back where you belong,

When you learn these things are true,
I'll be waiting here for you,
When you tumble to the ground
Pick me up on your way down,

[Instrumental]

They have changed your attitude,
Made you hoggie, and so rude,
Your new friends can take the blame,
Underneath you're still the same,

You may be their pride and joy,
But they'll find another toy,
When your true love can't be found
Pick me up on your way down,

[Chorus:]
Pick me up on your way down,
When you're blue and all alone,
When their glamour starts to bore you,
Come on back where you belong,

When you learn these things are true,
I'll be waiting here for you,
When you tumble to the ground
Pick me up on your way down...

Owens, Buck Pick Me Up On Your Way Down Comments
  1. J.... B....

Should NOT have put Don Rich way back behind Buck... Don MADE this group a success and Buck Owens wouldn't have been Buck Owens without him!

  2. J.... M....

When the second verse starts Don doesn't begin playing the fiddle until he hears it on the pre-recorded instrumental track.

  3. D.... D....

"Pick me up on your way down,
I still have money for you to spend around
When my wallet has dried out,
    Toss me on the ground."

Nothing quite like the real thing.

  5. J.... W....

The Buckaroo's would record the music tracks ahead of time in Buck's Bakersfield studio and sing LIVE to those tracks on HEE HAW...for the taping

  6. J.... M....

Looks like only the vocals were live.

  7. D.... ....

MAN BUCK COULD PUT SOME REAL HEART AND SOUL IN HIS MUSIC~!!

  8. D.... M....

Apparently Buck had moved Don into the background, at this place in time!

hmm, 6 people here don't know what good country music was

  12. R.... R....

Their harmony was great but I still like Charlie Walkers version the best!

    R.... R....

I just listened to his version for the first time tonight. It's a damn fine version, but I prefer Merle and Ray Price's. Jerry Lee does a good version. Hell, this is such a good song, just about anybody could make it great.

  13. M.... L....

didnt see don back there on the fiddle at first! his vocals sound great!
