Owens, Buck - Loose Talk Lyrics

So long we've been married last burden we've carried
Though fate kept us humble and made our love true
But plans that we'd make up someone seems to break up
Oh darling what else can we do
We may have to leave here to find piece of mind dear
Some place where we can live a life of our own
Oh I know you love me and happy we could be if some folks would leave us alone

When I go out walking there's lots of loose talking
They say we're unhappy and we'll break apart
But darling it's not true because I still love you and I do it all with my heart
We may have to leave here...

They say you are leaving that you are deceiving
But you tell me they say the same about me
But we'll show them there on that loose talk and do harm
And hope that's the truth they will see
We may have to leave here...

One of the great standards so long ago! I grew up with this song and still love 60 years later!! Thanks for the post!

  4. M.... ....

    I so miss this music!

  5. O.... P....

I live in Oregon and saw Rose's brother Don, now in his 90's play at Johnny B's in Downtown Medford. Love this.

  6. U.... P....

    Sweeeeeeet!

I stood at the edge of the stage at the Huntington Park Auditorium in about  1963 and saw Rose up close singing her head off. What a babe, she hung in there a long time, loved what she did. I sort of always wished I could have been her neighbor or close friend.

Why are they all gone? RIP.

    A.... P....

    There's a few left

  9. k.... ....

Pity they put out only eight duets!
They both had the sound and natural genius!
    Thanks!!!

You word that so accurately--they were "naturals". It seems to me so many of the modern country singers just make it on their looks, or perhaps just one song. Rose lasted 60 years ands still belted them out. This music was in the bones of a few---and they are the ones we love. An example of that might be Hank Thompson--it was in his bones, it was not just a way to get rich.

    These two sound fabulous together.

Boy, sure sounds like the late steel guitar legend Ralph Mooney put his magical, nervous-energy style of playing on this one from about 1960
    .

    J.... W....

You nailed it Jim! Ralph Mooney [steel], Al Williams [bass], Pee Wee Adams [drums], Don Rich [fiddle], George French [piano]. Producer: Ken Nelson)

    J.... W....

Ralph Mooney was the personification of the 'Bakersfield Sound'

    J.... W....

Nice to give tribute to the giants of the time frame. Old Rose really had it, she sang till she died.

    J.... W....

thank you, I was just about to ask who was on the pedal steel. it sounds amazing

@GatorRock788 thank you! heard this the other day and thought "damned if that ain't moon!"

A great song by the multi-talented Freddy Heart....who also wrote a two time CMHOF 'song of the year' "Easy Lovin." Only other song to have that distinction is Bobby Bradock's "He Stopped Loving Her Today." Freddy--and other great overlooked singer/songwriter destined for the Country Music Hall of Fame.

    F.... V....

You're right. I forgot that Freddie wrote this. As I write this, Freddie is still with us ... age 89

    F.... V....

When we speak of legends, it's fitting to think of these forgotten,  to some extent,  giants. Rose Maddox had a career  that they ought to make a movie about, truly bedrock folks many of them are.

Freddie Hart sounds to me like Rose Maddox and Buck Owens
