A lot of people say they have a lot of Metallica influences on this album, mainly I think because of the tuning, but if you listen closely you can hear the years of decay stomping master of puppets into the ground bahahaha.

I discovered this band in the end of 80s. It was much better than most of the representatives of metal mainstream. Most underestimated group, I think

This song is part 4 of the Overkill song off of Feel The Fire in 1983. Not inspired by Metallica since they use the riffs off the original song from Feel The Fire album.

If you're looking to cite influences then you should be mentioning Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead and the Ramones (earliest stuff). The fact that Metallica also has the same influences is what makes their sounds similar at times. Also, Metallica has sucked eggs for 2 decades. Overkill continues to shred some great stuff.

As for the track, during his prime he of course could've replicated it fine but even still, the fills are way more enjoyable than whatever Lars played tbh

Either way a lot of what I said back then is not applicable to how I feel now. In his prime Lars was a totally good drummer but no one can deny that he was one of the absolutely worst drummers of any big metal band during the late 90s - mid 2010s as he stopped giving a shit as much

@Cyrekt In terms of the reputation of his band, he was definitely a sub par drummer, but there's nothing remarkable about this track's drumming that sets it above the likes of Dyers Eve which has superior drums in all aspects than this track for an eg, Damage Inc's fills are a pretty much equally if not more interesting than this Damage Inc lite version lol
