Outlaws - Gunsmoke Lyrics
Some will lose their nerve tonight
Others lose their lives
A flash of fire in the fight
A cold look in my eyes
Passing judgement in the street
I deal with darkness ruthlessly
I love the way it feels
Hear the roaring of the gun
Dead before the fear
Gunsmoke on the setting sun
You know the end is near
There's a shadow on my life
That's colder than the night
To fuel this dream of light
Dancing madly from the bar room
Where whiskey blinds my eyes
Lady luck is lonely now
Her streak has been denied
Hear the roaring of the gun
Dead before the fear
Gunsmoke on the setting sun
You know the end is near
I can hear the painful cry
That lets me know you're there
You're tryin' hard to stop me
When you know I just don't care
Another moment on your own
A life shot full of holes
I like how music pulls you in
To calm your restless soul
Hear the roaring of the gun
Dead before the fear
Gunsmoke on the setting sun
You know the end is near
Know the end is near

Saw these guys 3 times back in my younger days. Nothing better than watching 2 drummers playing at once.
I believe that lynyrd skynyrd also had two drummers back in the day
Allman Brothers Band also had 2 drummers
Doobie Brothers had two drummers Grateful Dead had two
Just love Henry's vocals here. God this band was so good........
Parece metira, tengo 51 años y he escuchado grandes grupos a lo largo de mi vida como: johnny cash, crosby, still, nash and young, jethro tull, camel, kansas, etc... y jamas quizas cosas de la vida oi a OUTLAWS. Gran grupo. Alucino.
Alright!! Now we're talkin'!!!
Billy Jones was just the best & Hughie together they were the Outlaws."Heart & Soul'....come look at......"Billy Jones the Outlaws" on facebook & give Billy his well deserved respect...
Billy Jones was the best
excellent tune
R I P hughie, without you the outlaws are not the outlaws.
Great guitarist ,great man.
Point you are missing is that Hughie would have WANTED this music to live on...and it is.
@AliG1964 Not to mention the fact that this is a Henry Paul song. I truly miss Hughie, Billy, and the boys, but I agree, they would have wanted the music to live on.
Dumb asses had only 2 great records this n lady im waitimg produced excellently then unlistenable shit after that
Did you forget their 1975 self titled album? or both lp's from 1978: the studio album,Playin' To Win, and the double Bring 'Em Back Alive? or even 1980's Ghost Riders lp?
I bought "Best of the Outlaws: Green Grass And High Tides" around the time I bought their debut album as well as the video game Red Dead Redemption, 3 years ago. You have to understand. I'm in my 20's and I was getting into the whole "outlaw hero" concept because of the Outlaws' music and the video game came out at the same time. Being an avid classic rock radio listener for 13 years at the time and never hearing any Outlaws on the waves, this song was new to me. Every time I listen to Gunsmoke, it reminds me of starting a gunfight at the saloon in Armadillo, if you know what I'm talking about. Outlaws and RDR flow together so well. And no, I didn't discover the Outlaws because of Guitar Hero or Rockband. Never even played it except for in-store demo a long, long time ago. I remember downloading Hurry Sundown in my junior year (2003) of high school and that was the first song I EVER heard from them, but it didn't make me an instant fan. Time is all it took! Outlaws are sure a heck of a lot of fun to play on an American Fender Strat through a Deluxe Reverb! Sounds just like Hughie as long as all the right notes are played!
My son was the lead programer for Rockstar San Diego's "RED DEAD REVOLVER"...And I am a OUTLAWS, and Southern/Country rock fan and player from the sixties till present...I know what you're saying on all levels...
Played red dead redemtion 2 and reminded me of the lines "i can hear your painful cries, lets know your there" and "your tryin hard to stop me when, you know i just dont care"
rockband showed me green grass and hightides, now im here
I got to see them with .38 Special and Foghat in 1980; needless to say all 3 were fantastic!
love this song
great album,great song
Going to see Henry,Monte and the boys today!!!

I heard the drummer Monty and singer Henry wrote the lyrics to this. Very cool. They still rock the hell out of it.
