@Colin Luby In my opinion, Kurt couldn't even hold a candle to Layne vocally and yet their is hardly any mention of AIC or STP which were the top grunge bands period! Nirvana had a couple of great songs, but the other two consistently put out great albums throughout their whole career! I believe that if Kurt didn't kill himself, it really would have allowed the other bands to show how overrated they really were! 

+Nevada Campbell They had a simplistic style to their work, sure. It is interesting to see how Queens of the Stone age did from the ashes of Nirvana. There are some other great grunge bands that had less coverage.

@Nevada Campbell That is probably the best assessment of the situation I've ever heard.  AiC's music was far more broody, complex, depressing (emotive), and evocative (and just plain better IMO) than the majority of Nirvana's work, and STP was just a great all around band.  I mean, I enjoy plenty of Nirvana's work (though the radio play stuff got old more than a decade ago), but Nirvana just happened to emerge as the Elvis of grunge (sort of like how I'd call NIN the Elvis of Industrial). and Kurt dying just sealed their status as the most popular and acceptable grunge band, but not necessarily "the best" grunge band.  Cheers!

Speed knots they didn't rip it off from nirvana it's a cover ...a cover doesn't need to be changed there is no rule in how it is done ...a band is allowed to do it as the original.
