To some of the people commenting on his not being it the shots with the women, keep in mind it might very well be because of his faith. I don't know all the ins and outs of being a Mormon (obviously) but I know they do have some rules about how they conduct themselves around the opposite sex. What exactly they are, I don't know, not being Mormon myself. I just know a couple and they tend to shy away from women that are scantily clad. Especially when they're married.
I'm not saying that IS the reason for the way he did the video, I'm just saying there's likely more going on than simply what you think you know.
I know this was done when he was trying to remake his career but I'm not sure it was what he actually Wanted. I always got the impression that if it weren't for trying to stay in the fame game, he would have been happier staying the way he was with out all the fluff and tight jeans.
Do I wish he stayed as he was? Helll No. He's one of those guys that when wearing tight jeans, he makes even the most frigid gal swoon and pant. lol

I remember this on the radio in my first car. I loved it. Then found it was Donny and thought that had to be wrong. I grew up in the 70's on Donny and Marie...I couldn't believe he sounded this way. Loved. Still do today. Showed it to my woman who is a big Puppy Love / Donny fan :)

Donny's voice breaks through every now and then to be extrordinary, but the right material wasnot found for him at that time and the video is dismal. the woman are borderline grotesque, and the Osmond prudeness would not have donny actually seen with them being all sexy with the song. That makes the video seem weird and unaffective. Donny did well to go to broadway, but I would have loved to see and hear great pop work from him out of the 80's if the right people had cared.

What a comeback for Donny Osmond. I remember seeing a 60 Minutes story on him in the fall of 1988. The interviewer asked Donny what he was told on how to be popular again and Donny said (with what appeared to be tears welling up) "get busted". They replayed that segment after his surprise success the following year. This was a heady time for Donny and strangely enough, this is my favorite phase of his career. Soldier Of Love peaked at #2 on the 6-3-89 Billboard Hot 100. Up from obscurity at 31.
