Orbison, Roy - Shahdaroba Lyrics
Where the Nile flows
And the moon glows
On the silent sand
Of an ancient land
And a heart cries
Shahdaroba
Is the word they whisper alone
Shahdaroba, Shahdaroba
Means the future is much better than the past
Shahdaroba, Shahdaroba
In the future you will find a love that lasts
So when tears flow
What on earth to do
And your world is blue
When your dream dies
And your heart cries
Shahdaroba
Fate knows what's best for you
Shahdaroba, Shahdaroba
Face the future and forget about the past
Shahdaroba, Shahdaroba
In the future you will find a love that lasts
Shahdaroba

Don Draper brought me here
Mad men brought me here
January 2020, watching Mad Men which brought me here. Great story, great song!
Mad Men, Season 3, Episode 13 One of the best, great closing song.
There's Roy Orbison and then there's everyone else. We miss you Roy, they'll never be anyone close to you.
Shut the door, have a seat.
how was your morning?
Very productive.
Roy Orbison brought me here and not Mad Men.
Same but I'm glad that Mad Men has given attention to this under rated Roy song!
Here because my heart is broken.
Hearing this song in an old antique shop brought me here
From his "In Dreams" Album - Great Album/Beautiful Song. Album is available on CD - try: < https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000002YGQ > 😎 Means the future
Is much better than the past. 10/2019
RO’s vibrato is an ethereal, sweet and smooth quiver. That’s what makes his voice so distinct and beloved: and yes, Mad Men nudged me here. It was easy. 🦋
Was lucky to see him sing this live, in Brisbane, in 1969. Just love him and the compositions of Cindy Walker. It is the B side of In Dreams, she didn't write these for him but they were perfect for him.
This man had a voice to sing anything.
End of Mad Men Season 3...
Episode 13, Shut The Door. Have a seat.
Where the Nile flows
And the moon glows
On the silent sand
Of an ancient land
When a dream dies
And the heart cries
Shahadaroba
Is the word they whisper low
Shahadaroba, Shahadaroba
Means the future
Is much better than the past
Shahadaroba, Shahadaroba
In the future
You will find a love that lasts
So when tears flow
And you don't know
What on earth to do
And your world is blue
When your dream dies
And your heart cries
Shahadaroba
Fate knows what's best for you
Shahadaroba, Shahadaroba
Face the future
And forget about the past
Shahadaroba, Shahadaroba
In the future
You will find a love that lasts

Reading the comments, I understand how important it is for new productions to include older content. Many people looked this song up, just because they watched Mad Men, which was a great series, by the way. We need to keep this stuff current, never forget. I like old things :)
Parents play a role, my mom had me into Pink Floyd in grade school
did not come here because of mad men...

Was an excellent episode..
Intro sounds like snake charmer music
I don’t know why, but this song makes me think of James Bond, especially the beginning
Finally found it! Remembered from the jukebox at the airmen's club at a USAF station in Turkey, 1963-4.
you must have great stories! How did you find service in the East?
Sir, I would like to hear your stories. Were you in Incirlik Air Base in Adana or Cigli Air Base in Izmir. I can welcome you if you have a chance to visit Turkey.
I do.... sometimes think, the BEST music has ALREADY been performed. It's all downhill from here.
Amen Roy Orbison is the greatest
This is called "leaving a "legacy""
for both Roy and Cindy Walker, who wrote the song.
It is truly a shame that tastes gravitate away from great songs such as this. I sometimes think all the great music has already been written.
In the future you will find the love that lasts.
Came here from Mad Men
OBSCURE SURE; BUT I LOVE IT.
Ditto, madmen. .....smooooth!
Bellisimo
This song makes me think of the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland
I'm a recovering alcoholic I use this song for Step 2 because it speaks of a Hower power in a very general terms

I don't remember ever hearing this song on the radio, but I had it on a LP back in the 60's. I always thought of Egypt when I listened to this song. Feelings of an ancient time would surface.
Pat Melton this has also been posted under other names!
It was written by Cindy Walker, it was on the B side of In Dreams, one of her best compositions, too; they were perfect for Roy's voice.
I love Roy Oribison and this song is one of my fav's. It is hard to find and rarely played or so it seems. He is a legend that will forever live on!!
FYI Several years ago I purchased the CD from the Album," In Dreams", which includes this song and is an excellent CD throughout. Here's a starting point for you: < https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000002YGQ > 😎 10/2019
