They stand and sing with such talent and heartfelt emotion that they bring up memories from your past, the good memories along with the bad. Not everyone has the ability to appreciate their talent. Does anyone know what the little thing is Orbison wore around his neck? It looks like the 'Iron Cross' which was the highest honor medal in Nazi Germany. It may have a special meaning in US history and Southern States perhaps, just wondered why he always wore it...I would love to know!


This song was inspired or motivated by the tragic loss of his second wife in that terrible accident. You can feel the pain in his voice that's from the heart, but he was still able to hold his head up, entertain people and make people smile and bring joy to the world over. His ballads are very sad and personal but mesmerizing and beautiful at the same time. He really was a unique soul and strong spirit with an amazing gift.

This was a tribute concert to Roy, everybody respected him and wanted to be here for this special performance. k.d.lang was very toned down and did a wonderful job as backup singer, looking feminine to fit in with the surroundings--this was the Coconut Grove ballroom, in the Ambassador Hotel--it was demolished not too long after this event. This was a one-time deal, and will never be seen again. Roy died about a year after this--what a great tribute that he could participate in!
