Orbison, Roy - If Only For Awhile Lyrics
For a while I can sing
All the world and everything is touching you
Knowing you are real a miracle beside me
For a while I can breathe
Seeing me with you keeps my soul alive now
Tomorrow, if I die
At least I'll know why I live
You're mine, if only for a while
For a while, for a while
You hold my world and you can spin it
For a while, for a while
Life is good because you're in it
Tomorrow, if I die
At least I'll know why I live
You're mine, you are mine, if only for a while

Orbison, Roy If Only For Awhile Comments
It never ceases to amaze me how one can listen to an Orbison song from years gone and still appreciate it like it was the first time listening to it...amazing talent...absolutely amazing!!!
What a song, you cant beat Roy, but what you also cant beat is this, my partner who loves Roy Orbison didn't know this song, but he learnt it, and sang it to me , and I love him for it x
Fucking ROY ORBISON. Who the fuck else. Brilliant.
Roy Orbison was the man who was involved, with me, falling in love with the man, I am now with, we have a shared love of his songs, so , thank you Roy for helping me to find the man that I truly adore xxxx
Keep being happy Sam, with the love of your life and The Big O...
A beautiful song, as always
This song would have been way out of step with the trends of the early 1970's, but really, what a versatile voice. I am not crazy about all of the orchestration, but what a great song and flawless delivery. It reminds me of a 40's standard or maybe even a song written for a Broadway musical. Fabulous!
I had to do quick look up, and as I suspected this song was written by Billy Dees, with whom Roy Orbison often collaborated) and Larry Henley.
Wow another fab song by the legend that is Roy Orbison xxx
Beautiful song❤️❤️
Half a century ago I bought the first record being a Roy Orbison record. This song is 'new' to me. But it underlines that I still adore Roy. He sure was very, very special.
+Henny Claessens I hope you took advantage of the box set they just released back in December of all his MGM songs and albums/cds.
Plus the new unreleased cd ONE OF THE LONELY ONES from 1969.
OUTSTANDING is the only way to describe it!!!
I worked in his office setting up data circuits in Nashville. His piano player was our song leader at worship and after Roy died his piano came to ATT / BELLSOUTH TO WORK for us. ELvis said that Roy had the most verstial sing he ever heard.
J'adore la musique de Roy Orbison
Life is too short to cover a big love.
Whenever anybody asks me what my favourite song is, I say - ROY ORBISON. That is as specific as I can possibly be. Of course, I could easily say this song is my favourite, but as soon as I hear the first octave in the next Big O song I play that will be my favourite too.
Mr. Orbison never made a bad song, every single one was sublime and a true gift from God to Roy, and then to us - his listeners, fans, and ultimately - the people Roy had so much love for.
The best singer in the world.
He was so special!!
