Opeth - In The Mist She Was Standing Lyrics
Seven milestones...
Under a watching autumn eye
Contorted trees are spreading forth
The message of the wind
With anger the wind blew
Giving wings to my stallion
Clouds gathered across the moon
Blazing the white light
Passing the lake I know so well
I am near, yet so far away
Arrival...
Awaiting me like the night
Awaits the day
Standing silent smiling at my presence
A black candle holds the only light
Darkness encloses
And the candle seem to expire
In her cold, cold hand
And as a forlorn soul
It will fade away
Touching her flesh in this night
My blood froze forever
Embraced before the dawn
A kiss brought total eclipse
And she spoke
Once and forever
I am so cold
In mist enrobed the twilight
She was standing...

me: bye mom gonna trippin'
mom: where u goin?
me: nowhere, gonna listen Orchid
5:35 bellísima atmósfera, provoca en tu mente la imagen melancolica de un bosque.
Listening to this while high is quite an experience, especially in the end. You feel like youre in another world experiencing a lot of struggle. Crazy stuff
11:36 tus besos sooooon, son como caramelo
Me hacen llegar al cielooo
1:41 arrival
This band is like my ex wife(but in a good way) Goes from 0 to 100 in an instant.
The greatest outro to a song to ever exist
Their only good album
I don't know much about this band, but I have been coming back time and time again to listen to this song for over a decade.
Their first two albums are defining examples of this sound, which I haven't be able to find anywhere else in metal. If you haven't already I recommend listening to Advent, Black Rose Immortal and To Bid You Farewell. And Forest of October. Actually, just listen to both albums in their entirety haha.
@ChiaroScuro - UK Band cool, thanks, I'll check those out! :)
Melodic Death Metal !
Progressive Death metal :)
Anders Faust melodic death metal !
This album holds up better over time. I remember lying on my floor in my room in 8th grade, blasting Opeth directly into my eardrums with whatever shitty headphones I had back then. Incredibly how each of these riffs is so seared into my memory, after so much time.
Same here my friend, the same for me. I've been there and felt elevated for 65 minutes in those yours in my room listening to this and doing nothing else.
🔥 🔥 🔥
Loads of Maiden in here, great stuff
Behave.
Holy fuck, I’d forgotten this album existed!
great song ever
It's like they are not even the same band anymore... this is so much better.
C'mon. These guys gave us so much. Haven't they deserved enough respect to follow their own paths?
11:39 my favorite moment of Opeth.
Fastest 14 minutes. What a hauntingly beautiful and epic track..
Kick ass song
Man, I simply cannot get enough of that outro!
I have heard all of Opeth's greatest songs, but for some reason I have only heard Blackwater Park and Sorceress in full form start to finish. Redeemed myself this week by starting with Orchid, and man, I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Did the same thing with Deaths a few months ago. Any suggestions for bands I should dive into after this? I know there's probably a bunch of obvious picks, but I'm to lazy to think of them.
fredsik neurosis maybe
@Caleb Not a bad suggestion! Definitely need to check out the rest of their material.
Yes, Voivod ! But start at Dimension Hatross
I HAVE SHIVERS just by listening to that outro! This is fucking masterpiece!!! Deliverance outre is genius but this... THIS IS AN ART
12:08 let the ultimate eargasm begin
Amazing transitions throughout. If you're going to make a fourteen minute song, this is how you do it. I luv it! :) Far from boring.
Anyone else not able to listen to their new stuff?
Nope. Sorceress and In Cauda Venenum are both great
@fredsik 👏👏
Damn, it must be painful. I really dig the new stuff.
Their clean vocals are great and stuff but I prefer their older and more heavier albums.
I stopped listening to Opeth after Deliverance (except Watershed, which was pretty good). Basically you can listen to all of their albums up to Deliverance. First two still my favourite, just the musical arrangements are magical, and the songs are absolutely epic. No bad songs on these albums, whatsoever.
Why in the world would you not listen to Ghost Reveries??
Ghost Reveries.
A lot of black metal, some vibes from Load/Reload era Metallica, and nice jazzy interludes, this is the pinnacle and logical conclusion of all black metal. Opeth would later go on to play prog rock. Main point: I like Opeth now.
I personally don't hear the Load/Reload resemblance, those were released after Orchid, also. It reminds me more of "Dance Of December Souls" by Katatonia or "Bergtatt" by Ulver (the acoustic interludes).
Opeth up until Heritage wasn't Prog Rock in general
@Paul Westfall Yea I know. I didn't like that album much, but I liked Pale Communion.
Dissection
You know a band is amazing when they are this good from the start.
7:26 that transition.... omg i just want to cry. my skin is melting after that following growl. Opeth is everything
best album
Same feeling!!! Their best album, and this song, their best ever!!
This is Opeth's equivalent to Metallica's "Kill em All." Basically it's very raw, shows the band is still finding it's feet but lets us know what they're all about and is a blast to listen to.
@Mark Vrahotes Yes I will compare them to Metallica. The band who's contributed the most for metal since Black Sabbath.
@W-James Too bad they stopped being metal for 2 decades. Fuckin' pussies.

One of the finest opeth masterpieces
4:41 im on seven sky when listening this riff
For me it's at 2:57...huge drum break with a nice big "urh" on top
Official Opeth youtube channel gets the name of their own song wrong
This songs are auto-generated as soon as youtube buys the rights to them so pretty much if a name of a song is wrong its not really their fault, more on the music rights group that provided it (which in this case is UMG)
@ThεMini Another example of mass production, it's very sad
@Apocalypse2612 uh what?
@ThεMini That a company as huge as UMG can make a tiny stupid mistake like this, but maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist
Title is wrong it's "In Mist She Was Standing"
How they get their own song title wrong? lol!
one of the most underrated music composition in the world
Not that well composed, new shit is better, the intro doesn't really fits the rest of the music cus it sounds like pirate music.
@BJ. Thrash lol pirate music
I agree! This album deserves a lot of attention especially from those section of the fans that had masturbated to Blackwater Park on numerous occasions -- such an overrated album, and they act like that's the only good record in their discography. Opeth's newer fanbase comprises a large bunch of prog snobs that are also into a boring and shitty band like Tool.
12:00 I think this is the best riff of Opeth's whole career.
Idk, it's great but pretty much every riff on Still Life is better. Plus those riffs were so good Mastodon "borrowed" some after touring with Opeth.
Not even close
my favorite outro from Opeth, definitely
Värmlands visan , after 12:00
@John White I love Still Life, but that's crazy talk.
orchid is such an underrated album

Thank you
Some of the creepiest lyrics I've read. I love it.
When the insomnia has me in it's grip.i play this, turn the volume up and make the glass rattle.and let the soothing sounds consume me,then I can sleep.
I,after decade's finally get to see OPETH next month! psychofest,oh and the MISFITS are filling in for Megadeth.so FUCKING ready,I'm bringing in 5 bottles of STROH 80 &a litre of almost 200%grain alcohol.HAR!!
Most first albums are terrible this is absolutely amazing!
Nah There's a reason why "sophomore slump" is used to describe a lot of second albums. A band has forever to write a first album but if they get signed there's an expectation to produce new music more quickly.
care to share what bands have a bad debute album?
Depending in what you may call "good", Orchild is a example of a bad album. Meaning, it didn't become popular.

@Ein Walroß To me Iron Maidens debut was Number of the Beast. The two previous albums were basically pre Maiden.
Where have I been my whole life ? How am I just now finding out about this band and song? I mean yeah I've known them but I just now started really listening to them. I feel stupid lol
you're the luckiest man alive! I still keep going back to the first tunes I listened to when I was younger and get the same kind of feeling (but not quite)
Same story here. I've known about this band and I've heard random songs. I decided to start from the beginning to really get to know their sound. I think I made the right decision.
@Jake Roe Same! Born 85, got into Opeth in when Blackwater Park came out. It's still my go to workout album.
@Brandon Lemon that's awesome man! hell Blackwater Park is good for almost any occasion!
We all know how that feels, such an amazing band
