Opeth - Hjärtat Vet Vad Handen Gör Lyrics

"Det är för bedrövligt! Usch!"
"Vem fan är du?"

Ta det som ett löfte och gå
Dos av dagligt gift blev en drift
Trots allt kan du inte förstå
Tuggar slaktens kött på ditt skift

Fakta flödar ut och du tror
Slavar lyder konspiration

Men bakom min dörr
Fanns ett rike
En hemlig karta visar vägen
Till skatter av plast
Och pärlor av glas

"Usch!"

This album is growing on me. At first I was kinda "meh" when it was not the sound of the mid 00's albums but now I'm realizing more and more that the old death Opeth is not coming back and they are the kind of band that wants to keep evolving and changing the sound of the music. They are musical pioneers and can't get stuck in a specific sound.
Once I realized that it was much easier to listen and judge this album on it's own merit than comparing it to the old.

  2. T.... H....

Reading through the comments shortly after it turned into English...i then realized it's the same song in 2 languishes.... fucking epic. Love it.

  3. T.... H....

Amazing. Gonna listen to this often

  4. i.... ....

  5. i.... ....

    100x swedish version

That verse part is 25/8, or more accurately to how it sounds it's 5/4 > 4/4 > 7/8
It's so satisfying to count along

  10. E.... D....

the writing...the production...the bass!! all so great....instant classic

  11. E.... G....

The English lyrics are awkward but the Swedish version sounds very good.

  12. t.... ....

Supposedly Mendez's bass broke down during the recording of this song and it was kept on the track. Anyone know what time of the song this can be heard?

    t.... ....

someone commented below 4:56 but i didnt check

    t.... ....

    Somewhere around 5:32

  13. I.... ....

Why the album isn't on apple music rn

  14. S.... A....

Cannot wait to go see them live in Montreal!!

  15. m.... ....

The slow part at the end, man, the lyrics... they hit close home. As they probably do to anyone 40 or over.
    Fuck...
    Thanks, guys.

  16. m.... ....

Beautiful song and lyrics. Love that you made it first in Swedish, as there's rhyme, then made an English version. More bands should do this.

It makes me weep for the sad state our world is in...

  17. M.... ....

    Beautiful song, Swedish sounds nice

  18. K.... t....

    Fantastic!!!

  19. M.... R....

I don’t know how but the melody at 5:48 fits damn well my October mood

  20. m.... ....

There were a couple places there where you could have added some growls, just for old times sake. I miss stuff like Watershed. 😢

  21. J.... ....

    First Listen: 40% volume
    Second Listen: 70% volume
    Third Listen: 100% volume
More Listens: Lost 2% of my Hearing and I don't care Love this Album and song!

Was Mikael inspired from this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xpbt_JlbkI

  23. K.... W....

    My dream:
    Swedish pale communion version ♥

  24. A.... N....

What a wonderful album, thanks Opeth!
See you in Milan on November! :)

  25. u.... ....

    5:47 adorable puente..

  26. H.... O....

    Svenska version is amazing!

  27. A.... F....

The mix on the vocal tracks have that Vintage Gregg Lake John Wetton feel.

  28. L.... F....

Opeth i dont see how the accoustic follows from the initial on this one

    L.... F....

Listen to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and you will see how it follows.

  29. S.... W....

As usual, I listen to it just like any other recently released opeth album, only that the last few albums were 'just' awesome. This one is a remarkable mile stone for opeth on their new style, just as still life and blackwater park were back in the days... I'm so delighted that I got 2 tickets for Berlin in November, f*ck yeah ^^

  30. R.... J....

Fuck you Michael put Opeth to rest for once and for all...what a fuckin shame those last 3 albums

  31. D.... P....

SONG #1 ON THIS ALBUM IS THE BEST OPETH SONG EVER. I THINK IT MAY BE THE BEST SONG IN THE WORLD

  32. L.... W....

Best death metal vocalist on the planet and he won't do death metal vocals anymore. A waste. The new opeth bores me, which I'm sad about. Do another Storm Corrosion album. That was awesome. Stop making Opeth a lesser version of that

  33. L.... H....

My God what has he done!

  34. U.... N....

Yep! Same old prog rock silliness ! Such a shame. Opeth used to be my absolute favorite band in the world.

  35. D.... F....

....sounds like they keep writing the same song for the last 3-4 albums.....

  36. G.... S....

Ian Anderson Is proud of it

  37. R.... M....

The true music of our time 🤘🏼

  38. C.... R....

Heart in Hand is the perfect soundtrack for Rambo: Last Blood.
*If you know what I mean.*

  39. D.... -....

    Still ...kick ass!!!

  40. t.... ....

    Beautiful

  41. G.... M....

Looking forward to this album, how about a US tour?

  42. C.... R....

I meet this band outside of a bar in
St. Petersburg FL. I saw them live and it was epic. It was cool seeing you and the band at the time eating food near where I lived growing up

  43. A.... ....

    In swedish is fuckin' awesome!!!

  44. J.... ....

The Swedish chorus is so good @2:31 !

  45. M.... N....

Lot of fans who aren't happy with the new sound of course they blame Steven Wilson me I think this is their masterpiece forge on guy's

  46. C.... L....

The new stuff really reminds me of GR mixed with Heritage. I think they finally found their balance and I'm stoked.

  47. D.... ....

These newer albums feel like they have more of a metal edge than heritage and pale communion.

  48. J.... V....

Hahaha! The spoken intro is from Skrotnisse! 😂 https://youtu.be/1ESV9uw_Fkk

  49. S.... E....

I like their newer, more clean/proggy style. But I do wish they'd heavy it up a bit sometimes and add a sprinkling of the old growls at least. I know I can always just listen to the many great older albums and be satisfied, but I'm a spoiled little bitch.
Speaking of crying... I also don't really like the new cover art style. I like paintings, when done well, but these covers of late are a bit basic and, dare I say, amateurish. Sorry. The artwork is no "Point Of Know Return" nor is the artist Roger Dean or H.R. Giger to be sure. I mean a band as complex as Opeth deserve someone more imaginative and talented with the brush. just sayin'...
Regardless, I love Opeth. And am happy they still exist.

  50. N.... M....

I’ve made a terrible mistake. I only pre ordered the English version. 😢

  51. N.... K....

My body is ready for the crusade!!

  52. M.... L....

    Ordered both vinyls today :)

  53. U.... ....

I havent listened to much Opeth since Watershed since i'm on old school fan and the new stuff never really gripped me like the classics but this song is beautifully done \m/ Maybe this is my introduction to a period of Opeth I never gave a chance? I'm thinking it is, because there are so many albums from all kinds of bands that I didn't dig until years after their inital release. I have no idea why...Albums in the past that just disgusted me and dissapointed me when they came out are some of my favorite albums of all time nowadays. This album though I knew I liked the first time I heard it \m/

  54. J.... ....

Opeth help me concetrate on my studies!!good stuff

  55. D.... M....

New Opeth > new Tool.. I know they are very different bands.... but both had a huge impact on me in my youth.

    D.... M....

(New Opeth = new Tool = new Blind Guardian) >>>>>>> everything else

  56. M.... M....

Okay, but who did the artwork? Amazing!

  57. S.... G....

Is anyone willing to shed more info about the time signature & modes etc on this one?

  58. B.... Z....

Axe is a BEAST on this song

  59. J.... D....

    Can't understand a word

  60. C.... d....

    Holy ffffffff that ending

  61. H.... K....

Man this song makes me happy I kept the Opeth tat I got right after Watershed dropped. Death metal or not, you guys have been my favorite band in the world since I gave my older brother’s borrowed copy of Morningrise a listen in ‘97, and now I get a new album to listen to as the colors of fall begin to form :)

  62. m.... ....

I love that they made a song in their native language, they should make more like this, Swedish really fits the music I think. First Opeth song that's truly stuck in my head since Ghost Reveries era. Super catchy chorus and nice grooves!

  63. K.... Y....

    that solo was tasty.

  64. T.... ....

The Almighty God of Dark Metal commands me to learn swedish and met and mate a Sweden lady. My offsprings will then reclaim the crown of Sweden bringing peace and prosperity under a heavy ruling that will last for millennia. I get carry away so easily...nice record.😆✌

  65. J.... M....

Link to clip from old Swedish childrens tv-series where the opening sample is from. Comes at 00:10 seconds.

    https://youtu.be/1ESV9uw_Fkk

  66. J.... R....

You will probably hate me but I wish the old Opeth would return :/

    J.... R....

The old, the new - it's still Opeth - their sound is unique and it will always be :)

  67. T.... N....

This is an amazing song. I've listened to it a few ways already.

  68. d.... ....

Never listen to Opeth much. But this is really good. Hail, Skrot Nisse

  69. A.... M....

Pure perfection and balsam to my ears

  70. p.... z....

    terrible. sound

  71. m.... 6....

jag trodde dethär skulle vara ett cover på "den ena handen vet vad den andra gör" AKA "staten och kapitalet"

  72. A.... ....

This song has more power in Swedish than in English. Great job, guys:)

  73. c.... ....

Their music is timeless, but MY GOD, THIS MAN'S VOICE! Incredible.

  74. A.... F....

I love the reverb on his opening vocals...they absolutely soar..

  75. A.... F....

I'm so happy with this material. This is the catchiest music they've made since watershed, in my opinion of course.

  76. T.... M....

    Excellent return !

  77. M.... G....

Huge fan since Heritage, very happy with this direction

  78. M.... A....

What a beautiful song. The acoustic outro is something else.

  79. E.... K....

    <3 pure love

  80. T.... ....

  84. L.... F....

Opeth.. hmm. Since the first song i heard the new metal. Do you that the vocal had a folclor award from it country?. Inspiration.

    L.... F....

Yeah, I didn't get any of that.

  85. S.... R....

Is he trying to make prog rock in vogue again?

  86. B.... H....

    Black Swedish Water Park

  92. F.... M....

    Excellent

  93. V.... ....

As a "hardcore fan" of the previous albums up until Watershed, I see a return towards what made Opeth so.. Mythical, violent and overwhelmingly good. People battle over the lack of growls and the transition from metal to more "earthy" rock influences, but that's not why since 2010 I was dissapointed in what I was hearing. Sure they can change style and play what they want as a band, but it was the absence of emotion, not to say effort in the lyrics especially. No sense of mystery, too try-hard. And not to mention the lack of proper transition between riffs. Yes in some records there are some, yet not as marking as, for example, Deliverance, Face of Melinda Demon of the Fall and I pass many more. Those were immemorial because you could sense every note, sound, volume, use of instrument was thought with heart. As in a recording for an epic movie like Lord of The Rings or Braveheart. My Arms Your Ears come to mind here, with the masterfuly made scenario for the album they could easily make a film out of it. That's what made me get so inspired by them. That's what introduced me to play guitar, reconstituting every songs by ear - the tabs weren't precise enough - and play them at spectacles. I didn't find such inspiration from Sorceress and surely not the 2 albums before (hell I don't even know there names because of how indifferent I felt at listening to them). The song titles picked up on my curiosity and eagerness to hear them out, but the lyrics, there meaning and the melodies are too on-the-surface. Like the expressive artists that pretend to make a paint from splashes or by taking advantage from a toilet to make a point.

That is my hardcore fan perspective

  94. k.... ....

Welcome back Old Friend. 3 years is well-nigh an eternity, but so worth the wait :D

  95. T.... D....

So the instrumentals are back to solid form. I actually really enjoy the vocals with this. This is the first song since pale communion where I don't miss the growls.

  96. T.... E....

    vem fæn er du?

  97. a.... f....

I heard so much Pale Communion on this. And that's a good thing! Can't wait!

  98. T.... ....

Nothing against Tool but YouTube silently nudged this song right after Tool's Fear Inoculum to establish who's the boss!

  99. P.... B....

    I'll take a double double!

  100. 2.... ....

    🤘🏻🇸🇪
