Opeth - Chrysalis Lyrics

And on the furthest day when you lay down
Discard your disarray and your rusted crown
And face the wretched image of you and I
No trust in what you say, you are a dead poison seed
Stronger when you are away, you have nothing that I need
The rhyme has settled in the ghost of a sigh
Nothing now remains, now you will leave me be

Sunrise into the moonlight
A broken body lies in wait
Your prize won you the stark night
And you made peace with your fate
Blind eyes sensitive only to white light
Reacting just a bit too late

Preying on insecurity, a design of your schemes
A true believer of purity must tend to what it means
Or allow its gospel to turn into a lie
You forsake everything you feel in favor of despair
Immune and blind to everything that is real in your secret lair
And cast away the captive heart that was thine

And you will go and leave me be

Winter in your soul, building a wasteland
And you tread a thin ice 'neath your feet
Sneering, and everyone you would shun
Collecting flowers to your wreath
Lifeline, a river cuts deep in your cold hand
It is changing when you try to breathe

Leave it all behind you, there is comfort in giving up
A seed in a barren soil might curl up into a coil
Flourish into something new
Give back what you thought was "you"
And give way to all that is new

Leave it all behind you...

Honestly I didnt like this album at first but its become one of my favorite from them. I like that they changed their style, it keeps things fresh and prevents burnout mediocrity. When artists stick to the same format it gets old. I like Sorceress and I like Heritage, but i wasn’t too much of a fan of their newest album (too prog) but it’s grown on me. My comment was edited because after a few more listens I love post growl Opeth. I love growl Opeth as well, but I’m glad they changed it up.

  3. O.... B....

The first 2-3 seconds of this song are similar to the first 2-3 seconds of their own Hex Omega.

  4. F.... ....

Those "fans" who only want his growls are fucking fools. Does the synth remind anyone else of tarkus

  5. V.... ....

    Niiiccceee.

  6. T.... t....

Probably my favorite from the album.

my fav parts are when it gets slower like 5 min in, makes me feel like im floating

  9. R.... M....

Cool song and a beautiful final section. Can’t wait for 2019 Opeth

    R.... M....

It's like this song but not quite as godtier lol

    R.... M....

James Peterson what is? The new clip sounds great, sinister, crisp and having good dynamic range unlike Sorceress while not overproduced like GR/Watershed. I think the new clip is the best Opeth yet sound wise

    R.... M....

@James Peterson Glad I'm not the only one who spotted the similarities between Heart in Hand and this one. Almost identical songs structurally, vocal melodies all over the place, etc. I like Chrysalis more though.
